PSP mod shines ring of light

Modder Psyberjock has added a swanky hack to his PlayStation Portable that replaces the silver ring around the UMD tray with a circle of led lights; however, it's not for the faint of heart. If he gets enough requests, he'll post a how-to, but right now he says, "Considering the difficulty level of this mod, if you can't figure it out yourself, you'll probably just break your PSP or UMD tray."
We hope he shares the love, because that's a groovy looking mod.

Er, isn't the PSP battery life bad enough as it is?

LED light is so so so low power like about 1 watts each, it won't be much different for PSP battery life. About reduce about 5% or less of battery time.
The battery for PSP is not too bad for moment, last about 3.5 hours on GTA:VCS with headphone.

Nice mod... looking at a PSP it seems to be quite possible with some 20-22AWG wire, special resistor placing, and shaved-down 3mm LEDs, but I'd hate to see how many people would be on forums going "omgzzz I bricked my PSP with ledz!!!1 helpz meeeee!" So I wholehartedly agree with Psyberjock that this should be left only to those who have the ingenuity and experience to do the schematics and install on their own.

That's cool looking and all, but that probably lowers the battery greatly compared to how low it already is.

a black bar? The LG Chocolate? Wait, it IS a PSP!!! It shines so thieves can track it and still it easier :D
But in all seriousness, it's a neat way to customize the externals. I was concerned the next thing to "pimp" the PSP would be diamond studded case (cellphones), gold plated casing (cellphones again), or lacey cover (.... cellphones yet again)

I don't sit at my PSP all day, so the battery life is fine for me as it is.
The led lights look cool, would prefer red though :P

Someone did a pretty good job with Photoshop I guess...Oh well, it looks pretty cool though.
