Haha, I love all you haters in here repeating over and over that Maddox "stopped being relevant years ago". Yeah, I guess that's why his site still gets millions of hits, and he got a book/comic book deal, and you don't.

The majority of his fans/readers are gamers. All the stuff he said was already well known to gamers. That's more of a summary than any kind of opinion. We know Sony screwed up a lot. What else is new?

Yes, Maddox is very funny most of the time, and I do have his book, he's a cool guy (he signed me an autograph when he was in LA), but this last post is his worst post ever. He didn't come off as manly; he didn't come off as funny; neither as witty. He came off as whiny. Look at the admiration signs in that rant... "idiots!!!" ; "assholes!!". He had never used those signs to insult somebody, or hell, for anything unless he was mocking someone. He would usually call them (the mocked ones) "dipshits", and sound witty, but no, he simply criticized without having any funny bullet points. Even when his last rant is stupid, you'd know he ain't a fanboy of anything if you have ever read Maddox, especially his gaming related rants. If it was true that he was Sony's worst enemy, then he also "hated" the first Xbox, but that's not true since he got it for playing Metal Slug, among a few other games.

Too bad, Maddox could have made an anti-Sony rant funnier, considering his first Xbox rant. Then again, he probably had no factual material this time (who would?, and instead was repeating verbatim what he has heard on the net. Disappointing.

RedStar, Maddox wasn't funny until he bashed Sony. His site's quality has started decaying, not to mention he's been funnier before, he has sounded less of a whine before, and he had good points against Microsoft. What the hell did he say now? "PSP Sucks". Oh no, he seems to think that PSP has solely PS1 games. Not to mention he didn't investigate, as he usually does, on the Lik-Sang matter. All game companies wanted Lik-Sang out of the business for selling mod-chips, which allowed piracy. The "PSP import" thing was just a pretext to sue them again.

For all who don't know. Maddox is a comidian. His book (Alphabet of Manliness) is hilarious, it's not honest, it's comedy. His whole web page is to make you laugh and probably the best advertising campaign for a book ever. I mean read his "your children can't draw" or "pedo-smile" posts. They are hilarious, but ultimately far from serious, they are just made to seem serious. Maddox in this post is just really saying the truth, Sony is fucking up. The PS3 is engineering genius, but Sony is taking some bad steps.

I see the person that fits the above statement as a loser with no job or life. Or even a girlfriend. A hardcore gamer, at least in my opinion, is someone that plays the games and judges them based on legitimate merits, such as difficulty, AI performance, and the fun they have while playing it. Playing based upon time and genre does not a hardcore gamer make.

I know a ton of hardcore gamers that hate RPG's, simply cos they are, for the most part, cliche ridden pieces of trash.

Anyway, Maddox's impact on the market will not be huge, if it has any at all. Ultimately, everyone will try each system out and decide for themselves.

Also, we will all know someone with one system, so when he get a hands-on, we'll make our own decision.

I REALLY don't think many of you understand WHY he is on this crusade against sony....if you are confused, read his post. Sony has really turned into a 5-star shitfest of a company. And they really are starting to ruin home entertainment. I'd totally be into PS3...it looks fucking incredible...except for blu-ray. If sony wasnt so money hungry that they keep trying to push their OWN fucking format (read; minidisc, umd, now BD) to make royalties, the machine would be MUCH cheaper and better. They could totally have invested in HDDVD and with a unified next gen format, we could all be happy. Instead, they got power mad and thought they could overturn the industry with their own format, which as it turns out, currently sucks BAWLS when seen side by side with HDDVD (goto a fucking bestbuy and check it out for yourself). So he is trying to kill support for a company that is actively trying to fuck the industry. And that is maddox's stance...I totally agree. The less support for this now complete laughing stock and JOKE of a giant enemy crab..i mean company known as sony, the better. You dont like his view, don't read it. Seriously people, wake the fuck up. You sit here and bitch about how "it's all about the games" with the Xbox, and then when Microsoft picks up on that and says, "Golly gee, maybe those little socially retarded twits are right" and adopts a similar mentality, you start spouting about HD and all that other crap. So more or less, you're going to go with whatever console you what, and regardless of what facts are presented to say otherwise, you will blindly spout off the same crap that you're being force-fed.

It doesn't matter how much authority a source has, if it contradicts your particular viewpoint, you either dismiss it outright or label it under anti-Sony propaganda. But here's the thing folks: It's not propaganda if everyone is repeating the same thing. And Microsoft, despite being fat with cash, cannot buy every single journalistic source.
So that leaves us with either two options: 1) Sony's system is really in bad shape; or 2) Microsoft has officially surpassed GOD as the single richest entity in all of known reality. Which means that at some point, Microsoft is going to be changing the laws of the physical world so that their next system, which I hearby dub the Xbox OMG!!!1 will operate faster than light, and data will be streaming so fast you won't even know you're playing the game.

Wow. This is a new level of stupid. I can see it not affecting your want of a PS3, but by what twisted logic could it actually make you want one even more? And then of course there's the obligatory comparison of the Wii to a console that bears no resemblance to it whatsoever.

Maddox's material can't be taken all too seriously. I don't think he takes it seriously himself. He writes the outlandish, and intentionally offensive (think Borat.) His stuff isn't for everyone; it's harsh, often vulgar satire written for people who want a laugh from a current events related satirist. He's kind of got the Howard Stern thing going in that a lot of people love him, and a lot of people hate him. Either way, he has millions of people that read his site. Will his knock on the PS3 ruin it's sales? Not so much. Will it influence some of his fans who would rather buy a Wii and use his material to rant to their PS3 owning friends about what Sony doesn't make sense? Probably. The PS3 is going to be a hit, and will be sold out at least through the beginning of next year. Maddox isn't the master of the universe, but he is a fairly popular writer with a pretty loyal, albeit mostly narrow minded, fanbase. I'm going to try to get my hands on a few PS3's and hawk them on Ebay, or in the local paper. I'll take money from anyone willing to pay between 2 and 3 times the retail for a video game system. I think the PS3 will be great, but it'll be just as much fun in a few months. This was not one of Maddox's best articles, but most of his points do make sense (at least mostly.) I hope the PS3 fans enjoy their new systems in a couple of days, and I hope the haters drink a nice glass of soothing tea. Peace out.

Yeah, Maddox is so irrelevant that his book was a NY Best Seller in the self help category for about 15 weeks. For those that don't know the self help category has only half the entries of the other so his time as a best seller could have been significantly longer. But I digress. His article has nearly 400,000 hits within a week of his posting. Almost 400,000 hits in 7 days. Seems kinda relevant huh?

But yeah, he's gonna be right.

I love Maddox, and I loved that article. I am indeed planning to buy a Wii before I buy a PS3.
