Bungie had it weapon balance right with halo one; the problem with halo 2 is not the actual idea of dual weilding or the starting weapons...the problem with halo 2 is the LACK OF SKILL that is required with dual weilding and starting weapons. Not only was the pistol much more difficult to 3 shot with than a br is, the sniper, rockets, and ar all took significantly more skill. Grenades are another factor... In halo 2, they blow up in the vicinity they are thrown, one bounce gives an explosion. with halo 1, they could be thrown to explode longer, or with skill, made to blow up instantly. No doubt halo 2 is very fun, but it seems to be capped by its skill requirements. Reliance on a team is a fun aspect but it is not only more entertaining to be able to outskill many players to regain control of a map, but it lengthens the replay value, that is, makes the game more fun each time it is played. Lastly Halo 3 needs to have good maps to play on. Maps that are made larger like coagulation and sidewinder are really there for lesser skilled players. Higher skilled players like quicker action from levels like lockout and warlock. I think halo one had by far the best maps with prisoner(no real way to hide) and chill out. again the main problem with halo 2 is not that there was only 1 sniper on the map, its that sniping was made too easy. Skill should be the issue, not the weapon you hold.

I think that bungie needs to kepp gamertags and symbols. It shows originality and is just fun to customize. In matches if a player has a long name you just shorten it and you don't speak to someone by what their symbol looks like. I believe Bungie should keep gamertags and symbols and make them customizable so there is more variety. Thanks

everything sounds good, spawning the snipers/rockets/sword in different places is good so that everyone could get there hand on it, limiting the nads sucks, cause the way certain people play is toss the nads to the other side to control where the other people go. i toss nads like no other, i guess if you limit the amount held, make them spawn all over the place so you can always have them in stock. super jumping needs to be stopped cause its lame when one person gets a sniper jumps out of the level and justs picks everyone off it SUCKS!!! host is something that should still be if you have a good connection than your going to have a better game, IE if you have cox/dsl you should be better than AOL and the lesser companies. just my two cents, everything should be worked out in halo 3 i hope.

Less Lag, Auto-Aim amount of the original halo (I don't care what you say that game had it as well as every other console FPS does), Lunging with melee and sword should be gone, more consistency in what kills people is needed badly.

radar should only be existent in SP. Headshot accuracy and other weapon efficiencies are the skills in video games (the physical ones) I will never be able to hold my head up high in a video game because I outsmarted someone and had a better strategy. Dont get me wrong I believe strat is important, but when someone says dont take the skill out of the game because weapon whoring is something that you have to be good to dO...BULLSHIT! It is never a skilled shot with the rocket unless you hit someone mid air while moving at an expedited pace. The sword is a no skill weapon as well. Accuracy and quick reflexes show true PHYSICAL skill. Like that of a basketball player shooting a 3 pointer and making them 90% of the time. Remember that a game can be won without the strategist on the team (the coach), but without the players (the skill behind everything) then the game cant even be played...so make the game a quickly responsive headshot efficient game with very little auto aim for the people with controllers and no auto aim for people with mouse and keyboard if that is implimented (controller just cant compete with mouse and keyboard...nuff said) and then you have made a skill based game and one that is fair for all players!

Best,

There are many things that need to be done but before that you noobs have to understand what CAN"T be done.
1. No mouse and keyboard! That would be to accurate b/c its as simple as point and click. If you want to use a mouse get halo2 vista.

2. Halo:CE with 1080p...........can't happen nub cake b/c the 360 only supports 1080i. PS3 has 1080p but then its PS3 and it sucks!

3. Choosing your spawn point. Not cool, if you dont like spawn killing now think how bad it will be then. Once I see you spawn I know where to stay and continue to hit melee towards your back.

4. Minor penealty for quitter but not a big one. Maybe something like every 10-15 quits and you lose a level. Otherwise what would you do when you are playing and a friend sends you a party invite. Are you going to make them wait til you finish? What do you do when you have 2 suiciders on your team?

5. If people have the option to make there own game and be host no one would ever join b/c host is to powerful. Bungie did it that way for a reason b/c the best connection gives the opportunity for the best game. If u have ever played a custom game with a bad host you can understand how much it sucks when there is a bad host.

6. If the same weapon spawns in multiple rotating spots then it sucks. Of course it limits weapon whoring but at the same time there is only one sniper and rocket for a reason. The whole point is to get that weapon and use it to the best of your advantage. The best way to counter weapon whoring would be put other weapons in better positions and fix the spawn weapon. Spawing with a BR can help againist a rocker and sniper more than a SMG can. Also if you spawn and the only way across the map it thorugh no man's land then your screwed. This is why bungie should try to implement more teleporters and tunnels that can be controlled as easily. Try to defend 8 tunnels or possible routes with only 4 people is harder. Not everything can be as easy as spawn sniping the noobs who spawn at banshee platform on ancension.

Thats why certain things can't happen. But there are some good things that can, should, and may happen.

1. I like the idea of #'s and letters but maybe make with a simple smybol at the same time. B/c there are only 2574 options and there are way more players.
2. Lower the tracing ability of the plasma pistol. I like how it tracks but sometimes it track way to well. Especially with host.

As for now thats all I can say.

That's impressive. I really don't have any comments that are worthwhile, because I feel those suggestions are brilliant.
I do feel, however, that the 3rd Ring jump on Sanctuary should be kept, because that not only adds another element to the game, but it's a lot of fun.

And, I have a question, if it ever gets answered by anyone: What is this new one letter, 2 number system? Is it displayed instead of your regular symbol? Lol what if someone is illiterate? [rofl that would be funny: an illiterate person that is amazing at halo 2. "Congratulations on all of your success? Will you please join us and sign this contract? You will be able to make 250,000 a year! *Um, sure! Uh... where do I sign?* "Right where it says 'sign here'! *Oh, right... So.. what exactly does this contract say?* "Right- go ahead and read it yourself. It's pretty straightfoward." *Oh... um... I can't read. WAIT! Where are you going?? My 250 grand!! NOOOO* ~gunshot~

I think bungie needs to alow us to fully customize our controls. What would be wrong with that? It would make playing the game really comfortable and fun to play for me and I'm sure allot if not all the other players. Think about that. A full color pallet for you to choose from for you character would be cool.

Oh and I read a comment a couple of posts above about making someone sit the game out if an opposing team member quits the game, man that would suck ass, having to sit out cuz some little baster has had enough of an ass whoopen. I want to play the game not set out cuz some jack ass. I don't think you can fix or stop people from quiting the game or just not playing once joined. If your truley better than the people on the other team then you will win or show that you should have.

And for me I liked the fact that you had to lead your apponent in Halo CE with the sniper or pistol or any other weapon for that matter in long rang battles, it's pretty hard to figure out how much you need to lead a person at any given distance there for it adds another degree of skill/difficalty and is more realistic. It sepperates the men from the boys...lol

For the comment on the sword above, that is what I had in mind as well, just make it the same as the campaign version and keep the rest the same.

One more thing, get rid of the lung for the melee. I can't stand it when some one lungs threw me or ten feet away from me just cuz they were trying to pistol whip me. Bring back the Halo CE melee were you can only punch as far as your reach.

well i see that a lot is goin to be done to halo 3 multiplayer...but i still doubt it will ever bee as good as halo 1 or that i will like it better than halo 2, because though i kno you are trying to make it fair and balanced the whole point of a stratigic game is to have difficulties..in halo 2 you had to learn where everythiing spawned at and around how long it took it to spawn to get it....if you mix around the spawns ur making it less balanced....the whole point of a competitive game is to make it to where players learn and fight over certain spots or weapons....its just like a war...if you make it so no one can controll anthing its just like a random fight where everyones just killing..and not tryin to defend a part of the map or weapon...like all players/teams do in mlg matches...duh...they saty in spots where they kno they will have weapons and ammo...someone has to be offense and someone has to be deffense...if you make both be offense(like with the weapons spawnin in different places, or limit power weapons) then ur making a stupid multiplayer game..thats not how it should work

i do though think the sword should run outta gas!!!!

One of the biggest problems I have seen while playing Halo 2 are the people who de-rank in the game. They will sit there and frag themselves multiple times in hopes that his team will lose. There should be a limit on how many suicides are allowed per game. If the teammate frags himself 5 times then the team should have the option to boot him out of the game.

"1. The range on granades should be higher. Throwing a grenade any sizable distance requires you to look nearly straight up. I'm not saying they should be changed all the way back to Halo: CE where, on any open map, you could sling a frag from your spawn to the other team almost immedaitely. I think everyone would like a little more distance though.

2. Toggle crouch. At the very least, it should be an option.

3. Allow sensitivity to be mapped to your controller. Why not up or down on the D-pad?

4. Bring back Damnation.

5. The sword needs to eventually run out of gas (like in the single player.)

6. Weapon whoring is certainly a problem. I heard no mention vehicular prostitution, however. In Coag the opposing team's vehicles would spawn right next to each other. You could take out their whole fleet in a matter of seconds. And I don't know what opinions people had of Ascension, but I think it's a great map when the banshee's off.

7. More focus on 4v4 maps, like lockout, ascension, and sanctuary. Hang em' would be nice as well."

Best post yet, and to end weapon whoring, just give each weapon respawn times like in Halo: CE. With just these changes alone Halo 3 will > Halo 2.

I don't know how this weapon "balancing" will turn out, but people's complaint that the rocket launcher and sniper rifle are unbeatable weapons is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. I don't play a large amount of match making on Xbox live but as far as I can tell most levels dominated by sniper control have battle rifle starts which is a perfectly suitable counter for a sniper rifle. Further more, most people don't see the rocket launcher as invincibility, It's simple a matter of being inteliget enough to position yourself in a manner that can counter a rocket launchers advantages (i.e. not rushing or staying off of walls). In my opinion these new concepts are just a way to please the large amount of unskilled players who don't have the intelligence to either hold the power weapons when they have them, or work together to take down one in the enemies possession. For instance it is quite simple to team shot a sniper with battle rifles, or to have one player take a sniper out of scope while another player uses the oppurtunity to get to a better position to take him out close range. These new aditions are likly just bungie attempting to please the vast majority of poor halo players, which completely over looking aspects of the more experienced players who are getting brushed to the side in an effort to make the average idiot happy that he doesn't get dominated by a player he had no chance against anyway, most notibly in a starting weapon that doesn't emphasize headshots because people aren't good enough to be accurate and presise with it. Not to mention this just solidfies the fact that mlg gametypes are superior to the average moronfest (slayer terminal for example). If you agree please give me a "what what"

Bungie hope you read this..............
1) stop the 2 month free online offers working on Halo, the modders use these and don't care about ban hammers.
2) If super jumps are to stay make them easier for all levels of players to even the game out
3) Disable grenades for the first 5 seconds of the game to stop the idiots that try to destroy their own vehicles
4) Design a human version of the banshee (You have human equivalents of everything else and the humans stuff is better normally)
5) Game quitters......hard one this but heres the solution......if someone quits then let an auto-bot take over their place. At least it will give you some sort of chance).
6) Team betrayers......sometimes you cannot help betraying "like in plant the bomb on terminal with the wraith".......so why not suspend the player immediately for 20 seconds rather than waiting for the player to die......this would make team members a bit more carefull and be boring for betrayers who were instantly put "on the naughty step".
7) Make it easier to recognise the person who is being offensive / betraying to leave feedback later.....like part of the statistics at the end
8) Stop bridging, disc stops, player host grabs, stand by, player lagging

Theres more, but this is enough for me to really enjoy Halo 3......Woohoo!

The weapon whoring problem could be easily fixed by looking at PC game design. In Quake the weapons respawn every 25 seconds no matter who has what or if it's empty or whatever. Just every 25 secs. This makes for much more team strategy as for if a team wants to be able to control a map better they have to be constantly watching the spawns and always grabbing the right stuff at the right times. Makes for the team to have more to concentrate on as they move through the map. If a team makes 1 small mistake and is unable to grab a armor or weapon right when it respawns it could change the outcome of the entire game.

Whoever said mouse and keyboard would be a bad idea is fucking retarded. The mouse and keyboard always has been and always will be the best control scheme for any FPS game. How many times have you gotten killed in Halo just because you were unable to turn around fast enough. Thats just terrible. The joypad limits the players control over the game far to much. If you think the mouse/keyboard would give to many people and advantage then just go away. If people think there at a disadvantage to mouse/keyboard users because there still using the joypad then they need to get a fucking clue and realize the joypad for FPS games is nothing but a complete utter joke. Of course when you are playing a game that came out years after the first onlinge games on the PC and has terribly dated game design compared to any PC shooter of the same time you are probably just too ignorant to know any better.

In reply to 40. Halo a skilled base game??? ROFL. Halo is terribly dated in both it's combat and team strategy. I've never owned an Xbox nor will I ever waste the money on one. I've played many games of Halo and Halo 2 and competed in a few tournaments. Every tourney I've gone to I've used the mouse/keyboard and cleaned house. It was hilarious watching the other kids that spend every waking hour of of there lives practicing the game whine cause they were losing to a guy with a t-shirt saying "Consoles are for Noobs". I got called a cheater many times for using the mouse/keyboard. My response to all the whiny joypad toting noobs was you have the same option to enjoy better player control that I do.

In reply to 61. It's the same thing thats happened with many once great series of PC games over the years. Each new sequel brings more noob friendly aspects to the game in order to get more people playing the game. Usually in turn this greatly reduces the level of skill involved in the game and how the overall game is played in the end. People seem to get pissy when they see a sequel with very little gameplay change, but sometimes, often times thats the best sequel. Just slight improvements and tweaks over the last game.

One suggestion me and some of my other Halo 2 buds have been wondering about is the implemation of a more defensive type of grenade, "Needle-Nade" a grenade that you set and acts as a proximity mine exploding and spraying needles at the enemies while also bouncing off of other surfaces. Although these grenades might not kill the enemies they would at least make defensive strategy a more prominent tactic.

I would like a few things done, not too many, as Halo 2 is in my mind, the greatest game ever(so far).
1) TOGGLE CROUCH!! After awhile, my thumb hurts cause I have to press down and my controller is slightly messed up from pressing it so much.

2) Sensitivity directly to the control, as it has been said before.

3) Vote-kick. In a 4v4, if 3 pp want to boot someone off their team, then it should be possible.

4) FULL COSTIMIZATION OF CONTROLLER BUTTONS. Maybe instead of using 'A' to jump, I want to 'B'. Or if Im a serious gamer(and BR glitches are still possible), maybe i want reload to be'L', then i can more easily doubleshot people. People like to custimize, so give them that chance.

I have noticed 2 things from most of these posts, first is people whining about power weapons control, and starting weapons with no headshot. I have to say that if bungie is not going to have a starting weapon that headshots then you are catering to the nubs that can't 4 3 or 2 shot in h2. And as far as controling power weapons problem thats what they have team hardcore on XBL for. If your a team of nubs that couldn't get at least one of the power weapons then you dont deserve to have them. So many times I have lead my team to Victory not controlling the PW's in the beginning but still finding a way to win. As shitty as SmG's are I can still take out people with PW's. THe only people that ever complain about PW's are nubs that just want everyone to have a SmG as the only weapon in the game. And when it comes to in game glitches those things are what make the game more competitive and harder to master. H2 has turned into argueably the best FPS game ever because of glitches( not talking about super-bouncing). All the people who play MLG gametypes will agree with me here that the game is just fine the way it is skill will always ultimately determine the outcome.

Couple quick things. I agree with a posting I read that should make the controller sensitivity an in game function. I change mine depending on the map and gametype and inevitably die once while in the menu.

Get rid of this ridiculously strong melee attack!! This is a game about shooting and I get beat down 10 time a game. Put the power back into the weapons!!! With regard to the Grenades. Can we please have 8 total nades? I am fine with having to choose two types to be carried at one time, temporarily forfeiting the use of the third. This would make team strategy more exciting as teammates can carry different nades for different uses.

I am looking forward to it.

I agree with post #38
Also on the topic about glitches or super jumps. I support it.
The first time I saw someone super-jump on ascension and snipe from above really upset me. Later, I tried super jumping myself. I realized that it is a lot harder than it looks. Most people die trying to perform it in a match and those that don't have practiced numerous hours in custom games or offline to master it. I believe that it is just another skill like headshots with a sniper rifle. It takes practice and if you work hard enough then you should be allowed to do it.

In regards to #12, you are a fool. Why should the other team be punished for you quiting? I know with anyone their kids come first, thats understandable. But making the game unranked is just a terrible idea. Then everyone would quit if they're losing so their rank wouldn't go down. If you are quitting a large number of games I think you should get punished in some way. If you have a problem that keeps occuring it is your problem and you should get punished, not the others in the game.
