"That game's graphics suck, gamplay wise it's nothing but a 3rd person hack and slash, so how is it really worth a 9+ rating? Game rating sites shouldn't rate controllers or nostalgia factor, they should rate games on the actual game and nothing else. Sure Zelda will get a good review, but that's just because of nostalgic fanboyism."

Get over the fact the Wii doesn't have "nextgen" graphics. It wasn't built to blow your god damn mind. Get over it. No more shallow comments with the graphics please. This machine was built for a new way to play games.

Next, why do you consider Zelda just another hack and slash? Its the same shit that makes RFOM just another FPS. Oh, its got this and that, sweet weapons, great environments and whatnot. News flash buddy, Zelda may just be a 3rd person hack and slash, but its got more bells and whistles than you can count...and these aren't some bullshit gimmicky bells and whistles I'm talking about here.

Last but not least, this game is not going to get a good review because of "nostalgic fanboyism". For example, Robert Summa over at Destructoid posted and article talking about how he has never been into Zelda. At all...and this game has caused him multiple scatterblasts in the general pelvic region. In fact, I was never into Zelda until the Windwaker and apparently everyone hates that one. Damn son. If Zelda games only got good reviews because of the fanboyism, then Nintendo could churn out Zeldas yearly.

No my friend, this game will not get a good review from "nostalgic fanboyism". This game will get a good review because it is a good game.

So shucher mouth and don't be so god damn shallow next time.

OK..

1. GOW is good, in fact it's the 360's best game. However, it's not going to have the impact either of the Halos did. Its multiplayer just won't have the legs to keep it interesting for as long. It plays great, but there's nothing, NOTHING more annoying than getting killed in the first few minutes of a match and watching some shitbird on your team hide the last 4 minutes to earn a draw instead of a loss. This one facet has turned 2 of my friends away from its multiplayer (I, on the other hand have more patience and am having a blast). Not to mention the only 3 game variants are all death-match-derivitaves.

Resistance is solid, there's absolutely no question about it. Is it a system seller? Probably not. Is GOW? Not so much either. The multiplayer of Resistance sounds like it could have real potential, but is it worth the 600+? If it breaks as much ground as either of the Halos, then it could be worth shelling out the cash for the PS3.

With regards to all the "Wii needs to produce.." stuff: we seem to be comparing shooters in this case. Red Steel seems like it will fall flat of producing 9+'s accross the board. But Zelda will most likely deliver. Nintendo has almost NEVER sold consoles because of shooters (except Goldeneye), so for the purposes of making it successful, Zelda will probably carry the Wii. Metroid Prime on the other hand.. well, we'll have to wait and see won't we?

Wow, a lot of hate in these comments.

@ 23

It sounds like only a score lower than 9 will satisfy you for Twilight Princess. You seem convinced that it will only get rated highly because of fanboyism, but if you've read any previews of it you'd know that fanboyism has nothing to do with this new title's ratings. If anything, GoW and RFoM are on the same level of innovation of what you're accusing TP to have, and TP probably brings more to the table than either of those games. And bringing up any point about Wii graphics is kind of a moot point. Relatively, it pales in comparison to GoW, but on its own merit it looks pretty good.

"u guys are really stupid, gears of war is a 2 gen 360 game and ur comparing it to a ps3 launch game"

The 360 isn't a year old yet. How is Gears of War a second generation game? It's developer has never released a 360 title previously.

Technically the PS3 should have been released a long time ago, and was only delayed until now. Anyone releasing launch games had extra time to work on their titles.

So, based on that, CAPCOM is porting KONAMI's biggest franchise based on their Zombie's-in-a-mall shooter with the Z CERO rating in Nippon?

Gotta love the informed speculation these bloated blog sites bring. ^-^/

Too bad Resistance doesn't have real time weapon changing like Genji. The action pauses when you switch weapons, so some titles don't appear up to snuff. (End sarcasm).

what's really annoying is how a month ago, ps3 fanboys were saying how the launch games were gonna be so amazing since developers spent the entire delay time (due to hardware issues) polishing their games...

now that it's here.. we can't compare it to "2nd gen" 360 games. Why not? They've had nearly the same development time!

- Jimbo,

I’ve hated Zelda games since the first one on the NES. So playing a remake of Ocarina Of Time on a Gamecube 1.5 won’t change my opinions at all.

- Give me Stars or Give me Death!,

21, and you’re rebuttal makes no more sense than the awkward hype train the Wii’s receiving from these manchilds.

How can you rate a game without trying the multiplayer aspect on the real network? They have not had their network tested or stress tested let alone checking the multiplayer aspect. This is only 1/2 the story because if the multiplayer sucks, then the game should be re-rated to reflect that. Sounds like sucking up for their shiny new PS3s sitting in their offices. Way to be un-baised in your reviews. Thank god for Gamefly so I can garner my own impression after I pick up my PS3 on Friday.

I never realized how much this post was about the Wii, the Xbox 360, Zelda, Gears of War, CoD2, and Red Steel.

/sarcasm off

As per reviews, seems so far RFOM is living up to its small amount of hype. Personally I'm liking the spin they are taking with the history. Their website is a interesting read, and you can see how the history got distorted. I was hoping that it would be a good story, and from the reviews it looks like it will be. A good launch title, makes me want a PS3 now instead of next year when I actually go to buy one :)

What is "awkward" about the Wii hype? Shortages? Delays such as collectively giving Europe the finger? The imminent failure of Blu-Ray? Oh wait, that's Sony's launch.

I hope you get one of the fifteen PS3s coming to North America. Maybe you can play RFOM online with the eleven other people that bought it. If you can't argue with the grown-ups T-bag, then shut the fuck up.

I think everyone is comparing GoW to R:FoM simply because Sony claims the PS3 is a graphic powerhouse, therefore people are curious if the machine will prove to have far better graphics than the 360. However, to be fair, GoW is NOT a FPS game, it's a 3rd person shooter. Not only that, but it's not a "run 'n gun" type gameplay either as is R:FoM. So really, about the only thing you can compare is the graphics and gameplay quality.

That said, by only looking at screenshots on IGN and other websites, I would ahve to say that GoW looks better. The textures and lighting are simply more detailed. I haven't played Resistance (as I'm sure most of you haven't), but I do own Gears, and I must say, that after playing it (I'm still playing it consequently) it will be hard to go back to the "run 'n gun" gameplay... Even in Halo 3. The cover system just makes so much sense and is so natural. I am now spoiled for all future FPS's...

My conclusion? As stated before, Perfect Dark Zero scored over a 9.0 rating as well and that game sucked IMO. I bought it after hearing the reviews and was sadly dissapointed in just about every aspect of the game. Reviewers are going to be highly biased simply because the system is new and shiny. Resistance may be the best reason to purchase a PS3, but that doesn't mean it's a killer app just because it's the best of the launch titles. Not only that, but don't PS fans complain that FPS's aren't their games of choice? Son't they always mock the XBOX platform for having so many? Not to mention the PS1/PS2/PS3 (read: old) controller is not very well suited to this genre of game. I find these reviews speculative. Time will tell, but I'd say that right now, the visuals of the PS3 would not woo me as a consumer to fork over $200 extra. And any game labelled as a Halo killer better be dang good. As of right now, I see nothing revolutionary or innovative about Resistance: FoM. It's yet another shooter with perty graphics. But even the graphics are not above and beyond what the competition's best is showing, so I'm not too sure the consumer will agree with the high reviews, just like practically NO ONE agreed with the reviews PDZ hailed... But that's just my 2 cents.

Gears of War is good, but the control scheme kills it for me.

I played it all weekend, finished it on hardcore by myself, no co-op whatsoever, and I'm over it. Needed a control system that wouldn't let you get stuck on things as you're trying to run, and it really needed some sort of way to duck without having to be leaning against something. I'll say this: It's an amazing game, looks amazing, decent plot and progression, just the right length for me, but I wanted more 'control' of my character, not simply having a single button for running and ducking for cover, essentially telling my little guy little orders, it's a fine line you fanboys will pretend you don't understand, but it's there. It's 'Time Crisis' style was not for me, although I did enjoy it, and certainly a better game than the single player Halo 2.

Unfortunately, the 4-on-4 Call of Duty style multiplayer is not going to topple Halo2; it might do well, as soooo many people own the game, but it's limited compared to Halo2 multiplayer.

Is Resistance a 'Halo-Killer?' I don't subscribe to that logic when comparing games from different systems. I think a better question would be "Is it a Halo2 for Sony's PS3?" To which I would say 'Yes." Sony will now have a massive online brawler like Halo for the PS3. I played this game at a PS3 event a few weeks ago and it is SOLID, the big question in my mind is "Can they pull off the match-making, ranking, and website stats that Bungie has created for the Halo online community?" I hope they can, the game looks great, plays well (I played about 15 minutes on one level, so I'm no expert, but I can say the control, weapons, and physics were all great), and if the online portion is tight, everyone with a PS3 will own this, the way everyone bout CoD2 for the 360 over the last year.

So yeah, I think Sony will have their Halo2. And really, Halo2 was just Microsoft's SOCOM, so why get too specific here?

See it this way, PS3's answer to Preject Dark Zero is this, and so far its doing just as well, its answer to GOW will be Unreal Tornament 2007 made by the same company so bound to be awesome, and its answer to Halo 3 is Killzone 2 which looks good, but there has been no Gameplay pics, same with Halo 3, both just CGIs and hype.

Resistance was never going to even enter the league of GOW, its made by Epic, the creators of Unreal, they have far more experience in the FPS genre then Insomniac do, but it is still pretty damn good against the likes of Project Dark Zero.

Well...I'm not sure how long RFOM has been in development. Gears was in development before the 360 launch so depending on what you want to call first gen or 2nd gen game.... I'm sure RFOM and GoW were probably in development for the same amount of time and both company's first release on said platform. All I am saying is using the "Its a launch title" thing is not really valid. Since the Playstation 3 got pushed back basically a year, of course its launch titles 'SHOULD' look better than the 360's.
