"If buying crap is how you let your son know you love him, you don't really love him all that much."

"Yeah, because not being at home and being a father for 2 days is pure love."

"Father thinks standing in line for a game console shows better parenting and "love" than setting an example by GOING TO WORK or, I don't know, SPENDING TIME WITH HIS KID....."

•TYPICAL kneejerk internet reactions... You hear about ONE thing a guy does and assume he doesn's spend time with his kid, he can't express love for his kid without spending money, he's neglegent... SHUT UP, you sound like a bunch of uninformed jerks. Maybe the guy works at home or planned properly to take time off to do this.

My quick internet assessment of you guys is that your parents never did anything cool for you like take you to Disneyland, took you snowboarding, or hooked you up with something you wanted when you were stuck in school.

Sad life for you guys, and it shows in your comments...

@34 - You're going to be spending about $1,000 for the system if you DON'T buy it off eBay, unless all you do is buy it and sit there and stare at it. A 60gb PS3, plus a few games and a couple controllers (and of course, tax) will run you about $900-1,000 pretty easily.

Not a small price to pay for what you're getting. An arguably more powerful system than the 360 and a video player that plays $30-40 discs.

C'mon people, do a bit of research, that store *is* getting at least 100 PS3's...as are 5 other Circuit City's doing midnight launches...

Just came back from local Richardson, TX BestBuy who has 7 tents and another 7-10 people ALREADY since last night. BestBuy claims they will get 20 x 60GB and 6 x 20GB so if you want one you'll have to run and camp out now. CircuitCity just up the road on US75 will be getting 6 or 7 (no details on what) and already 4 tents there. Target also in the vicinity has NO IDEA how many..
I just find it hilarious that none of the above stores are doing midnight launch yet people are happy to camp out at 45oF right now and shit loads of wind just to get one...

the last frontier is probably Walmart for midnight launch, but I don't get my hopes up..!

I love the hope that eBay auctions will mysteriously fail. Fact is a lot of people, me included, are going to make HUGE bank off of these things. My consoles won't be going up until close to Xmas like I did with the 360's last year. If I was getting $2000 and up for 360's, I'll be getting the same for the PS3's easy, to think otherwise is just sour grapes hoping against reality. Auction griefers be damned too, anybody who puts these on eBay and doesn't use the pre approved bidder list option is asking for idiots to ruin their auction. Bottom line, is pay a scalper or no console for you unless you want to camp out for it. Deal wit h it, sure it's not fair, but neither is life.

The funny thing is that all of them think they are actually all leaving the store with one.

+1 Kudos points for irony!

Too bad they don't have theirs reserved @ Gamestop! A couple of my buddies in Chicago and Seattle said their stores called them and told them to bring in his trades b/c they're offering a 20% bonus on all trade-ins. Sure gonna help them out on paying off that hefty PS3 price tag!

"53. I'll be livebloging from Columbia, MD Best Buy!"

Nobody cares that you're waiting in a line. Nobody wants to read about you waiting in a line.

I have to go grocery shopping. It'll be pretty busy I'll liveblog from the checkout line.

"Someone in front of me is buying groceries. They're taking a while."

@59: the 20% bonus would be great if the starting value of most games wasn't like 50 cents -- I'm not making that number up; call them and ask about any game from 2+ years ago (PS2/XBOX/GC) that isn't "rare", and you're likely to hear a value under $2.00. Add 20 percent and you get a whopping $2.40... wow, if I just trade in 250 games I can get my PS3! Thanks, Gamestop!

I wonder if these people even know the price of this thing. I heard somewhere (here maybe?) that most people thought the PS3 was going for only $300.

So you are posting here telling everybody that YOU are going to make a huge profit. Good luck, since a lot of people are solely buying a PS3 for ebay purposes, like someone said:who's gonna buy one since EVERYBODY is selling their console? I cant wait to see what will happen in a few days...

Part of the reason that the PS3 is selling for more and will continue to sell for more than the 360 is because do you think people want to just throw away all of there PS2 games when they could be playing them on a next-gen console. Why would I go buy an xbox 360 and keep 2 consoles next to the the TV when i could just buy the PS3 and only keep it.

Shut your faces, you have no idea what it is like to camp. I live in Fairbanks Alaska and will be camping outside for 20 hours in -25 degree weather, and that is without the wind chill. Oh sweet PS3 how I wish I will be able to play you, but my hands will be too frostbitten.

Unless you have a Netflix account, in which case they're the same price as DVD's. (i.e. free, for all intents and purposes.)

Wonder how many people in line actually have a hi-def TV to take full advantage of the ps3's capability. Or if most of these people are going to be hooking them up to their 19" analog tv via compostise cable. Hmmmm....

Losers. The PS3 is so ghetto fabulous that EVERYBODY has to wait in line to get one, just to sell it on eBay.

I doubt any of the line-waiters are going to actually- y'know- KEEP the damned thing.
