Berlin hotel offers cel-shaded room to guests

The Arte Luise Kunsthotel has to be one of the coolest hotels on the planet. Each room was designed by a different artist, and the prices won't require you to sell your PS3 for an overnight stay.
The room "Comic" looks like something out of Jet Set Radio Future, or maybe an A-Ha video. That's an actual photo of the room above. You can just imagine losing your depth perception and sense of realism there, and we can't think of a more perfect place to set up a game console. Preferably a Wii, because anything with more horsepower would overpower the room.
Check out some of the other rooms in the place, it's a real trip. Next time we're in Berlin, Joystiq calls dibs on this room and "Future Comfort". That shower looks like something out of Terry Gilliam's Brazil.

Wow... At first it didn't click that the pic was of a real room - only the duvets etc. give it away.
I'm not sure if I would love to stay there or if it would freak me out!

Sweet, I'm hopefully going to Germany to visit my godparents for a while, so I'll be sure to check it out.
Some of the single rooms are really awesome as well.

Wow. Imagine tripping in that cel shaded looking room. I'd go there just to experience that!
Dennis @ Nov 15th 2006 8:26PM
Yes, the PS3 is expensive. We get it. That doesn't mean, however, that any story involving money must involve yet another puerile dig at the price tag.
Paulcardo @ Nov 15th 2006 8:32PM
It looks kind of cool and if i don't have to pay the price of PS3 to stay one night i could stay.

Your kid would be so messed up.

Playing Wind Waker on a black-lined Wii there would make my day.

OMG MORE LIKE CELDA M I RITE??????
That's awesome. I might have to repaint my office.
chickensnack @ Nov 15th 2006 9:33PM
Just being picky... but cel shading =/= cartoon outlines.
I think real life cel-shading would be rather difficult to pull off. Cool room, though.
James @ Nov 15th 2006 9:59PM
Won't be so cel-shaded after I'm through with it
otakucode @ Nov 15th 2006 10:03PM
Holy hell my house is getting a makeover.
Hal @ Nov 15th 2006 10:07PM
They have a room with levels! just like Kramer from Seinfeld!
mountain_rage @ Nov 15th 2006 10:51PM
All you need to do to make a room cell shaded is to remove all rounded furniture to sharp corners(perfect 90) then paint on a small black line on either side of the edge. Oh and make sure you have allot of bright solid colors.
Track @ Nov 15th 2006 11:25PM
You'd think that shading a certain side of those bright colors might help also...no?
rocko @ Nov 15th 2006 11:43PM
A Wii? If only you want to play the excellent gamecube game killer7, i'd leave the wii at home and just bring the gamecube. IT HAS A FREAKIN HANDLE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!! THAT THING WAS BUILT FOR TRAVEL LIKE A MOTHER F**KER!!!
or that oh-so-mediocre FPS XIII (wasn't adam west in that?)
mountain_rage @ Nov 16th 2006 1:06AM
thats a great idea for a kids room
NoHitHair @ Nov 16th 2006 2:54AM
God, someone shut that baby up, I'm sick of hearing it whine and cry. Oh wait, that's just poster #5.
Sorry, my mistake.
fraxyl @ Nov 16th 2006 4:19AM
Awesome. The pink wardrobe looks like it's watching you though. That's the creepiest aspect. Also, is that two shots side by side? I thought the perspective looked a bit odd, that might be why... maybe put a line down the middle to divide the shots.
livefromphiladelphia @ Nov 16th 2006 8:04AM
Cool.
JoeP @ Nov 16th 2006 3:17PM
That is one of the coolest hotels I've ever seen
Shay @ Nov 17th 2006 1:40AM
