480P in 16:9 is 854x480
At 60fps that is 24,595,200 pixels displayed per second.

480I in 4:3 is 640x480 (240 lines per frame)
At 60fps that is 9,216,000 pixels displayed per second.

480P on in 16:9 adds 2.66 times the clarity. This isn't even counting the horrible things that composite does to a video signal. HDTV's display some amazing pictures, but they also show you every defect in an image with unfortunate clarity. This cable is a must for anyone who has an HDTV. And if you only have an EDTV, you will notice the difference.

I ordered a cable as soon as I could. I got the first email confirming the purchase, but have yet to receive the second email about the damn thing shipping.

Really lame for Nintendo.

360 Core system does not include a component cable (only the premium has it) so you have to shell out the extra $50.00 for the cable.

To be honest, all of those who really want the Wii for what was announced, and really want the games to play, probably just want to play the games. They may as well also want the "EDTV", "Component Cables", "HDTV", or whatever the heck else you want to label it.

But as with me, I just got the console to play the really good games Nintendo always puts out, and dropping a bomb on Nintendo or fighting with someone else what is labeled or mislabeled is really just... immature.

And last I checked, Nintendo calls the cables "Component Cables". It would be Joystiq's fault for mislabeling what they actually do.

Also, it will be interesting to see if Madcatz cables can do anything better than the Nintendo Component Cables.

Please link me to sources if I am indeed wrong.
