With the upcoming launch of the Wii and the steady sales of the DS Lite in Japan, Nintendo is looking good going into the launch. It's no wonder that Nintendo shares have hit a record high and, in their infinite wisdom, Nintendo is planning on ramping up production to meet the insatiable demand the company has received as of late.
Given that, Nintendo is planning on shipping 1.5 million DS Lites to the country for the critical end-of-year shopping season. This figure, which more or less doubles previous shipping numbers, is the result of a gradual raise in shipping output from the company. Just last month, Nintendo raised their DS sales target by 18 percent to 20 million units for the year to March.
