Play Guitar Hero with your shirt (on)
Australian scientists have sewn together a shirt capable of transforming your air guitar techniques into real music. Both elbows are equipped with motion sensors that detect chord picking and strumming movements. The data is then sent wirelessly to a computer, which outputs your fevered thrashing into sweet riffs. The applications for this new technology are practically limitless, but we'd be satisfied if it made its way into the next Guitar Hero. Did we mention there are tambourine and percussion shirts too?
[Thanks, Jose]

I can see it now ... our children will be lining up for their first band recital, but do in an empty auditorium. They'll all be wearing white t-shirts with different instrument names printed on their backs. Each will take their positions, and the virtual concerto will begin!
Who needs all those big bulky expensive instruments anyway ... they were so 20th century ;)

I saw this last night on discovery channel its really cool. You should include a video in the post they are all over the internet, gives a much better idea of the technology. I also saw some laser that follows your hand in real time space very accurately and displayed the movement perfectly back in 3d space, it was also quite interesting.

It would be cool if it worked on the free Guitar Hero clone for the PC, Frets on Fire. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post a link, but a quick look on google and you're golden. You use your keyboard as a guitar. Very fun and wrist cramping.

Forget Guitar Hero, I'm gonna buy two of these, give one to a mate and pretend to be Bill and Ted.
