Yes, I do have a sense of humor, and I realize that there's no malicious intent behind the wording of this post, but mocking a drive by shooting by calling it part of some "console" war, seems to be especially mean spirited to the victims (who are probably your readers).

They have to settle for a shitty console instead of the awsome Ps3.

@Storm9

Actually, this act of violence is more than likely committed by a Sony fanboy pissed about getting is own PS3. Any 360 or Wii fan would likely stand outside the crowd and mock, only someone pissed about NOT getting the system would turn violent. If you're looking for someone to point fingers to, look around at the pissed off Sony fans who missed out!

Reporting on this incident is fine, making fun of an assault is appaling, especially when your image alt tag is "duck bitches!!!" Would teh editing staff of Joystiq want people to make similar remarks about their wife, mother, girlfriend being assaulted in a similar manner. Joystiq has really sunk to an all time low....is this just another example of the wonderful journalistic standards Joystiq keeps?

Getting shot by a BB gun is probably less painful than spending $600.00 on a PS3.

Geez, you could get a XBOX 360 and a Nintendo Wii for less than that price. In addition, not get shot while waiting for them.

devi8i - What else could you do in a situation like so, send out your regards to those people who may have a bruise on there shoulder from a freakin BB. Them campers should have whipped out there 'Battle Rifles' and 'Torque Bows' and taken care of that car. Wait a minute - there PS3 fans, they don't know about those types of weapons!

This is sick. Going to jail over a console that you will not take home. This is just the beginning. How many folks will get robbed tonight before this horrible launch is over. Is it that serious that people are willing to hurt people on the first day of a new toy? Sony will produce more. Don't hate!

Anyone who supports this kind of action is an absolute moron. That's assault, possibly with a dangerous weapon. It's also brandishing a firearm in public, as the use of airsoft guns in public carry the same consequences as regular firearms. I assume these were indeed airsoft guns, because otherwise the injruies would have been significantly worse. This is the kind of stuff that's going to get airsoft banned so legitimate players of the sport such as myself will be out of luck.

And don't think just because the crappy airsoft guns you've used that they are all like that. My 280FPS (feet per second) P90TR shoots 9RPS (rounds per second) with .2g ammo. That leaves some really nasty welts. My 380FPS Desert Eagle .50AE shoots a whopping 380FPS and is run off propane, semi-auto blowback. That thing can draw blood. At my friend's 430FPS Sniper Rifle is bolt-action, but believe me when I say you DON'T want that hitting you.

Politically incorrect & offensive?!?

Jesus, grow a pair would you guys? What a bunch of nancies. Joystiq isn't advocating this behavior. They are informing us that it happened. Then you "I'm too sensitive to violence" types start pointing fingers as though they are somehow responsible or perpetuating the incidents.

Politically incorrect?

That's so gay.

DWells55, no one is impressed with your gun collection. Way to write an introductory paragraph for your real intent, which was to "show off" how cool you think you are.

Haha people need to chill it's just BB guns, in my opinion if you were never shot with a BB gun you didn't have a childhood. Haha actually the other day I was drive-by BB'd right in the arm on my way to a party. Did I cry assault like a faggot? No, I pulled it out, and got a bandaid at the party to stop the bleeding.

The problem with people today is we all gate ourselves in our own little perfect house and perfect world and then anytime we actually have to deal with the real world we all just cry and get offended. The world would be a much better place if people stopped taking shit so seriously.

I know it's supposed to be all fun and jokes in the aftermath ... spin some silly twist on dangers of video games ... but this could have turned out badly. I'm glad everyone is alright. As for motive, I doubt the person responsible had any video game leanings ... probably just your typical a*hole.

Anyone camping out days in advance for a game console can't possibly have an actual job or any real responsibility.

Second. Guys... No one was hurt. That makes it ok to laugh. Didn't you get your playground rule book? I mean honestly it's a BB gun. It coulda-It coulda-It coulda. But it didn't. Therefore we can laugh.

(And I've been shot more than once due to teens and family members goofing off with BB guns. It's not bad)

Something similar happened last night in Mishawaka IN. Everyone that was in line was held up and all their money and cell phones and other exspensive items were taken.

Oh yeah it sounds to me like some people here are kind of jealous they arent standing in line to get one right now.
