That movie was featured on the front page of YouTube, no wonder it got that much attention... :)

Many movies are featured on the front page of YouTube every day... but they don't beat out stripteases. Must be part of that "buzz" we're all hearing about.

Anyway, it's far from the best commercial in the world, but at least it doesn't insult my intelligence like the PS3 spots do. It shows game clips and shows people using the controller, having fun. The one sentence of speech is simply "we would like to play" or whatever he said. No pretentious dribble about the next generation or new generation or revolution or anything. No puzzling imagery. Just games.

The Cell can solve a Rubik's cube in a second. The JVM on my old-ass PC can print out the solution to any cube instantly with the right program (spoiler: JVMs slow everything down A LOT). Wow, good job of showing your superiority.

I think it's pretty cute, nice music too. Why didn't the girl get to play though? :(

some interesting items:

-all the games being played seemed to be one player, with one guy playing the game and the others standing around him (emotional support?)

-all the games being played (red steel, zelda, metroid prime 3) were of the "hardcore" veriety. No wii sports or raving rabbids or monkey balls here.

So I guess this is more of a 'hardcore' commercial? Though still done in the spirit of fun and community, no solitary guys jumping over thier couches in dark rooms playing red steel :)

I like the ps3 commercials too, at least the rubix and the crow ones. They're strange and arty, but present an entirely different image than the 360's "jump in" set, despite both systems' similar game line-ups. PS3 is being marketed for sophisticated technophiles, 360 for 20-something cool kids looking for large scale rucus with strangers and friends, and Wii for a more intimate, real time fun with a small group of friends. Amazing how while only one out of three of the launch commercial sets actually features games, each one is carefully tailored to it's target audience.

It's the unique music & the interactions of different cultures. As well as Nintendo not fronting about who they are & what they're about.

Oh & the fun of course.

Wii rules the world in 3, 2, 1...

Only way to improve this campaign would be to hire Hiro and Ando from "Heroes" to be the guys who go around sharing the Wii joy.

Check about 13-14 seconds into the video: does Nintendo *really* need to be pushing the console on someone who's already got fire flower wallpaper? I'm surprised he wasn't waiting in line outside a Circuit City somewhere... :-)

Nintendo has posted their OWN version of the two-minute long video, much cleaner, no laughing, etc. I think the article writer just linked to the wrong video:

Great Add...Wii.Experience a new way to play was really great.
Haven't seen that guy with the Afro in any other commercials.
Thought he did pretty good!
It makes you want and go out to buy the game.
