Flashpoint: Sony Style in Boston -- Things go wrong
63
Issues at the Sony Style store came to a head this morning as hundreds of people charged inside Boston's Copley Mall when it opened at 6AM. Following last nights storm outside from the rain and among the crowd, we warned that things would go wrong. The Boston Globe wrote up a report regarding this mornings incident. We wish we had something profound to say here, but thankfully it was dramatic, rather than tragic, like in other locations around the country. Witnesses said of the 50 units that were supposedly available, in the end there were only 20. Another video shows the scene from the other side of the gate after the break.

I agree with MojoFilter, I feel dirty for seeing this side of a hardware launch.
I convinced my GF to go to the last ditch Fred Meyer's raffle this morning. They had 2 PS3s and about 100 people show up for the 645am drawing. No one was sore, people were happy and cracking jokes for the crowd. It was the happy side of a hardware launch.
360 was a great launch, all the 24+ hour campers were gamers and there to play the crappy launch games. It was hectic, but there wasn't the dirty undercurrent of resellers till the evening of launch.

Wow, this just reminds me of how cruel and revolting the human race in general is. I mean, not to ramble, but we hunt animals, living creatures for fun, yet we feel no remorse because we assert to the fact that these animal don't have feelings or lives in the conventional way, that they live to survive and survive by murder. It's just the same as this launch. There are idiot employees who manipulate customers behavior, for amusement if I may say. There are greedy buggers who would shoot someone in the face for a new console to sell for a quick buck. It's horrendous, yet unfortunately, not surprising.

For those who say that it was Americans, let me clarify; That situation was a mix of people who think they're American but obviously aren't. No American would be dumb enough to partake. Those pathetic suckers are foreigners or 1st generation retards who claim to be American, but really have no clue.

I would say that purposely delaying your launch until an acceptable number of units (4 million?) was available would be much better P.R.

Most annoying SONY FANBOY discussion ever was on the merits of it being a SUPERCOMPUTER occurred in a line waiting for a SONY STYLE...
Actual quotes:
FANBOY #1 : "IT'S A SUPERCOMPUTER I tell you!!!"
FANBOY #2 : "Once you put that LEXUS on it....you can do anything"
FANBOY #3 : "YEAH...you don't need your PC anymore. PS3 Rules"
At this point....I said screw waiting in line lest I get stupider via Osmosis....My sister would have to wait for one from the 2nd shipment.
2 hours later I walked quietly into my GAMESTOP where there was no line, no crowd, and all pre-orders were filled. Kudos to EB/GAMESTOP for running an excellent PS3 Launch.

The exact same happened to us waiting for the Sony Store at Lime Ridge Mall in Hamilton, Ontario. The line up that was there for 12-14 hours were the last ones in. Doors opened at 7:00am to get in the mall, we weren't let in until every other door was opened, we were finally in at 7:10am, after everyone else.

#'s 6 and 28, couldn't have said it better myself.
That aside, this whole situation reminded me of a great show called LOST.
Two groups of survivors on different sides of the island, each not knowing the other exists. Then the two groups come together and eventually everything turns up a total mess. Some people even get killed or seriously injured for the stupidest reasons.
Thanks Sony, for proving me right when I say that everything in the world can relate to LOST.

This has nothing to do with being American or not. Frankly, I think the comments on this board telling people what they should be doing with their time are un-American. If someone wants to waste their time waiting for a console they are free to do so. Last I checked it was the land of the free and home of the brave willing to face the masses for their PS3.
BTW got my Wii on Friday, what a blast. Nintendo is doing a great job of focusing on the core of video games: fun.
