One PS3 bundle to rule them all

You know those brainless console bundles that some retailers force sell? You know, the kind that exploit scarcity for a cheap couple of bucks? Well said retailers have been missing the boat all along as Ebay reseller tim_carlson_rules offers one PS3 bundle auction to rule them all:
"This is the most unique auction currently on Ebay because not only do you get the hottest holiday item that you won't see in stores until late 2006 at the earliest, but you also will get a FREE SNICKERS BAR ... oh and there is also this game called Resistance: Fall of Man which I'm including as well. I'll say this again ... FREE SNICKERS BAR!!!"
[Thanks, naughtylovetub]

LOL
SNICKERS FTW!!
crono141 @ Nov 17th 2006 3:00PM
In a side note, I think I'm gonna start watching the auctions, waiting for the market to flood, then buy one off ebay, to flip later on on ebay.
Joker @ Nov 17th 2006 3:01PM
Best Bundle Eva!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe Sony missed this Golden idea. The only thing that would make it better is if it came bundled with a Recliner and an endless supply of Mountaing Dew.
MSaccarello @ Nov 17th 2006 3:01PM
that's sales promotion if i ever saw it.
snickers? brilliant!
Abhinav @ Nov 17th 2006 3:02PM
That snickers bar better have 4d graphics, 90 FPS and a cell processor or i'm gonna mad as hell. That or i'll be filled with peanut caramel goodness. Ether one will do honestly.

BlindsideDork @ Nov 17th 2006 3:08PM
If it was a Crunch of 3 Musketeer bar I would be sold!!!
Do you think the winner will eat it?
The candy bar, not the game or system.
Pete C @ Nov 17th 2006 3:08PM
I love stuff like this...hilarious!
jron @ Nov 17th 2006 3:09PM
Yeah! I have enough change in my desk for a snickers bar! I can skip this auction.
DiahrreaMan @ Nov 17th 2006 3:10PM
Awesome bundle! Would have been hilarious (for me) had he included a free Game Boy with Super Mario Land. (Batteries sold separately). =D
STILL WAITING FOR GOLDEN SUN 3 DAMMIT!
Yoshi Likes Boys @ Nov 17th 2006 3:12PM
Unwrap the candy bar and bite into the nougat for MASSIVE DAMAGE to your appetite.
carg0 @ Nov 17th 2006 3:19PM
dammit, now I'm in the mood for a snickers bar...
Richard Neal @ Nov 17th 2006 3:12PM
Giving free publicity to the scalpers isn't cool, though.
Paul @ Nov 17th 2006 3:15PM
12... brilliant man... absotlutely BRILLIANT
crono141 @ Nov 17th 2006 3:21PM
Its only scalping if its tickets and its at the event. This is capitalism.

Capitalism FTW!
32_Footsteps @ Nov 17th 2006 3:23PM
Well, shit.
I was going to skip over the launch of the PS3 - all that hassle for crappy launch titles? No thanks.
But you just know I have to go with the guy throwing in a Snickers bar.
All told, its positively brilliant. Even before getting his auction on Joystiq, how much extra attention you think he got because of the Snickers bar? I'd love it if the description included "If the auction goes over $5000, I'll upgrade to a KING-SIZE Snickers bar!!!!"
Nij @ Nov 17th 2006 3:25PM
Awesome; thanks, Joystiq, for giving this idiot scalper the publicity he wanted while at the same time not posting anything newsworthy.
primetime @ Nov 17th 2006 3:31PM
Let me help you enjoy that PS3...
"Happy peanuts soar, over chocolate covered mountain tops and waterfalls of caramel...prancing nuggets in the medow sing a song of satisfaction to the world."
blank @ Nov 17th 2006 3:34PM
How long till eBay cancels the auction? Seeing as how you are not technically allowed sell food or drink's on eBay, it should be interesting.
crono141 @ Nov 17th 2006 3:39PM
Nij,
See my post #16.
GTFO Commie!
32_Footsteps @ Nov 17th 2006 3:34PM
Sorry guys, thread over. Primetime wins.
JJ @ Nov 17th 2006 3:37PM
One funny note is that Trauma Center: Second Opinion was on his receipt. It's a scam; don't trust the Nintendo fan and his poisoned candy goodness.
funkonaut @ Nov 17th 2006 3:36PM
Way to sweeten the deal! :P
Erec @ Nov 17th 2006 3:36PM
"Its only scalping if its tickets and its at the event. This is capitalism."
Are you saying 'this is capitalism' like it's a good thing?
dixonij @ Nov 17th 2006 3:40PM
Well, I don't necessarily see any harm with them posting this since if you look at the auction, nobody has yet posted a minimum bid of $1500 in the 40 minutes this blog has been online.
SlayerRB @ Nov 17th 2006 3:40PM
The Snickers is the only thing that satisfies in that bundle.
You should point the finger at the idiots who would shell out the money for these auctions, not Joystiq. They are the one's who allow this to happen.
crono141 @ Nov 17th 2006 3:41PM
"Are you saying 'this is capitalism' like it's a good thing?"
yeah, hells yeah. Way better than the government owning everything. This is the land of Opportunity, and times like this is an opportunity to go 600 dollars in debt, turn it into 2000+ dollars, pay off your debt and half a student loan or credit card or something.
Thats what I would have done, Had I stood in line for one.
Pal @ Nov 17th 2006 3:42PM
I don't like candy :(
Erec @ Nov 17th 2006 3:46PM
Crono, I suppose if you value money more than, you know, not being a dick, then by all means keep trumpeting how the current PS3 situation is a victory for capitalism.
To be fair, I don't have much against capitalism. I think its flaws are more just a reflection of humanity's flaws. And this situation is pretty indicative of one or more of those flaws.
Eaode @ Nov 17th 2006 3:51PM
@26 JJ
In the bid description, he says 'Note that there is also a Wii game on that receipt, but it is not included in this auction.'
Joe SMith @ Nov 17th 2006 3:53PM
Mmmmmmm.... Snickers....
Alan @ Nov 17th 2006 3:56PM
Did anyone else notice that on his GameStop receipt it says he also purchased Trauma Center: Second Opinion? I guess he's going to buy a lot Wii games and accessories with the money he makes off of this.
Iscariote @ Nov 17th 2006 3:57PM
"Crono, I suppose if you value money more than, you know, not being a dick, then by all means keep trumpeting how the current PS3 situation is a victory for capitalism."
You heard it here first; everyone who is involved in the stock market or any sort of activity that they profit from is a "dick".
Keep crying that you didn't get a PS3 Erec, but this is capitalism at it's finest. The market is self-adjusting to provide a limited supply (PS3s) to the people that want it the most (people willing to pay more than you).
Erec @ Nov 17th 2006 4:14PM
Isacriote, I don't want a PS3. At all. I never even entertained the thought of buying one this year. Hell, I probably won't even entertain the thought of buying one next year.
Not surprisingly, you horribly misinterpreted my comments. I'm not necessarily against anyone being profittable. I'm against people doing next to nothing to earn a quick buck at the expense of other people. There are a lot of honest, not-filthy-rich people out there who would love to buy and play a PS3 but can't because of all the people who are buying them just to make a quick profit on eBay. You laud that as an achievement for capitalism.
Like I said, I don't have a problem with most profittable ventures. I don't have any problem with the stock market. I do have problems, though, with people like those that sell these PS3s on eBay, ticket scalpers (even licensed ones), land squatters, domain squatters, etc. In short, I have a problem with people who exploit the nature of capitalism at the expense of more honest folk in order to earn a quick buck from those willing to pay their price.
If you think that makes me an unreasonable idealist, a naive idiot, whatever.
Erec @ Nov 17th 2006 4:20PM
One more thing, Isacriote. These PS3s aren't going to the people that want them the most. They are going to the people that can pay the most. There's a huge difference there.
The ironic thing is that those that can pay the most are often times in such a situation because they, too, have found exploitive ways to use capitalism to make a buck without any regards to other people they might affect. As a result, they're able to outspend anyone, which means that if others want to be able to compete with them in these situations for products they desire, they, too, often times have to find exploitive ways to make some money. It's really a disheartening cycle.
To me, that's capitalism at its worst. But like I said before, capitlism is no worse than the people who are involved in it. I think it's probably the best system given humanity's collective strengths and weaknesses. That doesn't make it, or us, infallible, though.
But I've ranted too much. I'd hate to be deported back to mother Russia.
mandarin @ Nov 17th 2006 4:27PM
By the way, do you eat your snickers bar with a fork and knife?
Raynre @ Nov 17th 2006 4:29PM
Capitalism for teh Win!
All you pinko commie bastards can just go back to your third-world countries that you obviously idolize so much. If you really want to be pointing fingers, point them at Sony for creating such a false demand for their product by releasing when they only have a fraction of the units they needed.
32_Footsteps @ Nov 17th 2006 4:51PM
"The ironic thing is that those that can pay the most are often times in such a situation because they, too, have found exploitive ways to use capitalism to make a buck without any regards to other people they might affect."
You know, if the product in question was something necessitous to life, like food or shelter, then maybe I'd be able to agree with you.
But we're talking about a freaking video game console. It's deliberately for people who want to spend large amounts of money for entertainment. If you find it grossly unfair, spend your entertainment dollars elsewhere.
I mean, I'd love to get a yacht, but I don't whine because the rich people drove up the price of boats.
A life @ Nov 17th 2006 4:54PM
I have to agree with Erec. And guess what? some PS3's arent selling like hotcakes, since everybody is selling them. Not to mention ebay has now restrictions for people with few feedback, haha. I predict this fever will end by Monday,a day after Wii's launch.
James @ Nov 17th 2006 5:30PM
You know, it's funny, I expected the Snickers jokes to come up during the week prior, not on launch day. You know... sitting in line 4 days early, camping out in your little tent... "Gonna be here for a while?"
toukie @ Nov 17th 2006 5:39PM
It's by far the bestest deal ever!!
ackmondual @ Nov 17th 2006 5:58PM
If the Snickers melts by the time the buyer gets it, can he demand a refund?
1st it's this... the next seller will include him camping and lining up at a retail store on a digitally remastered DVD as a collectible
SlayerRB @ Nov 17th 2006 6:04PM
This bundle is good, but it is filling. (Throws the PS3 out of the car window)
Me @ Nov 17th 2006 6:11PM
Anybody that sells their PS3 is an idiot. We people hate you kind of people because you sit outside in front of walmart for 5 days and end up selling the damn thing. Your ruining everything for us real gamers by taking all the available product !!! yall suck and you should proceed to light yourself on fire !!!!
Moogle @ Nov 17th 2006 6:59PM
Awesome auction. If I felt like throwing money around, I'd bid on that one. Good luck to him.
And to Erec - not so much, Ebayers don't have a monopoly on PS3 units. If you wanted one and couldn't afford e-bay prices, you could have just stood in line earlier. If you didn't, you didn't want it enough, or at least as much as someone else wanted a couple hundred in profit.
The exception being if you had to work or else lose your job - but that applies just as much to someone who is now able to buy one off of ebay if he couldn't be in line.
Ebay is just one outlet, and variety is the best thing for the consumer in general here. Capitalism wins - it gives you more options.
LordMinogue @ Nov 17th 2006 7:05PM
Poor guy, nobody has bid on his Playstation 3 yet.
Question @ Nov 17th 2006 7:42PM
I guess some people here in this page are selling PS3's for top $$$. No wonder they hail ebay.
