Warhammer Online updated screens
Games Workshop's Warhammer franchise has provided the setting for multiple PC strategy titles over the past ten years including Shadow of the Horned Rat, Dark Omen, and the recently released Mark of Chaos. Next year, Electronic Arts plans to bring the popular fantasy realm into the MMO market with Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. Speaking with GameSpot earlier this month, lead designer Steve Marvin said Reckoning will be the "best-looking massively multiplayer RPG out there". See if you agree with him by checking out developer Mythic Entertainment's (Dark Age of Camelot) massive gallery, which was just updated with over a dozen new screen shots.

another goblin and swords mmo. yay. my enthusiasm knows no bounds.
If this were Warhammer 40,000 with big ass mechs in a post apocalyptic cyberpunk wasteland, I'd be interested. But if I want to play with swords and crap, I'll go sacrifice my life at the altar of WoW, their crack is lemon flavored.

Keeping in mind that WoW is 2 years old at this point, I'm not all that impressed by these screenshots, they are basically just on par with WoW.

Alas, this is of little interest to me. I recently got into Dawn of War, and turning the 40,000 universe into an MMO would be so awesome I'd probably never leave my computer. I'd just roll around the Warhammer world as a XV88 Broadside, with neons and some spinners.

You think this on par with WoW? Oh please, if you had eyes that could see you'd realise how much more polygons and detail is put into the character models compared to WoW.

Ah, hell, this is nothing. Check out Aion. Runs on the Crytek engine. You might have heard of it. It powered Farcry, the dark-horse award-winning FPS.
Only MMOs based on the UE3 can stand up to Aion, namely Webzen's SUN and Huxley.

Conan looks alot better than this. And it looks to have better gameplay concepts too.

Fan, maybe you haven't kept up on your Age of Conan media... The REAL look isn't anything like their "in game" screenshots on mmorpg.com.
Warhammer Online: 9.3 on gametrailers.com
Age of Conan: 7.9 on gametrailers.com
I think its pretty obvious why theres the difference: Age of Conan's gameplay actually looks like crap, lol. Just look at trailer 4 on top, eww (http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?fs=1&id=1905). It sounded good before, and some of the stuff I see is promising (the sword run-throughs, the choking, horse-riding?). And if they get it to look like the screens on mmorpg.com I'd be impressed.
Till then, Warhammer's graphics are better and the prospects of their gameplay are as well since its being made by Mythic, who made DAOC, right? I also agree Warhammer 40k would have been cooler.

The screen shots are nice, but I'd prefer WoW anyway.

"postapocalyptic cyberpunk wasteland"...
are we talking about the same wh40k?
besides, i always had the opinion that warhammer was one of the main inspirations for most of these fantasy worlds. especially the warcraft-universe was alway very close to warhammer (closer than to tolkien or moorcock...) both in style and naration.
i think its rather interesting to compare these two...

I have been keeping up with the AoC media, I visit their boards almost every day. This video is a great example of how much better AoC looks.

Of course looks are only good for a short while gameplay is king. But IMHO the gameplay concepts ive been reading about for AoC seems fresh, like more reaction based and combo based fighting or the RTS AI for hiving NPCs.
Still im not in beta yet so I dont know for sure if these concepts are as good as they sound. We will just have to wait and see.

I have never been displeased with anything out of Games Workshop. Unlike many other developers out there they know the meaning of gameplay.
