I would throw in a racing game (NFS Carbon or whatever), and rechargeable batteries.

i was at the TRU in times square around noon and they still had a ton of wii's. They were so efficient at getting it to the customer. I just stood in line, an employee with a stack of wii handed to me, another asked if i need a controller and gave me one then i paid. in and out in 15 minutes, like an assembly line. Best. Launch. Ever

It's funny, I would think Resistance deserved a nod, but whatever. This guy has apparently never played excite truck, because their is nothing exciting about that glorified tech demo. I played it yesterday and it felt more like a demonstration of a control scheme than a full featured game in its own right.

I agree with Zelda (just because I dont want to enrage the fanboys), Gears, and Guitar Hero. But the rest of the list is kinda old, Oblivion still? I wouldve rather seen Dead Rising in its place.

As for the PSP, there are alot of good games that couldve been included, (especially since brain age and a mario remake happened to make the list). Tekken: Dark Ressurection is quite an achievement on a Handheld, and very fun. Lumines 2, Killzone: Liberation, and Daxter could all have been worthy in my mind. The list is a bit slim, but then again, who reads CNNmoney for gaming gift ideas?

No ps3! 'stiq is so biased.

What does CNNmoney know about games anyway. At least my ps3 doesnt break my tv when i smash my controller into it. The controller gives way first! I tried throwing my ps3 at my tv, but i threw out my back instead!

Flit - Joystiq didn't write the list. Read the article, lol.

From what I've read excite truck isn't actually that good...which is why launch day I'll be buying Zelda only...

*sigh* more 'stiq bashing about the PS3. They're just reporting what's out there, Flit (and other trolls/PS3 fanboys). I just played the Wii yesterday too, and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Still get the sense that the Wii-mote is more of a diversion from gamepad-based games, rather than a replacement.

PSP users ARE out in the cold: the PSP is not doing well.

Also, I'm not sure Excite Truck should be on there in the first place, but you can count that as sports title.

obviously to some people flit stating "/troll sarcasm" means "100% sincere"

anyway, although I am glad to see wii games on there (wii is awesome btw) the thing I like seeing on that list the most is Okami.

most beautiful game I have ever played (well, maybe tied with Zelda: Wind Waker)

anyway, that list needs Tetris DS! Best version of tetris I've played.

"....(especially since brain age and a mario remake happened to make the list). ....Lumines 2, "

um, Mairo isn't a remake, just for your information, and Lumines 2 is the exact same game as Lumines except for weird new music. Lumines would be a better choice than Lumines 2 because it's cheaper.

some old ones on there need to replaced...like Brain Age and Oblivion and KHII? those have been out for a long time! definitely need some FFXII, Resistance (for all 10 people out there with a PS3...), and how about the new consoles themselves? and yeah, Excite Truck = not exciting.

I woudl say Final Fantasy III or Elite Beat Agents for the DS-owner on your list.

And who the hell doesn't /already/ have Gears? ;) I'm asking the girlfriend for Viva Pinata.

@John, comments 2 & 3:
There's no point to a petition on Sony's prices.
The prices are figured by demand in a region. If you think the price is too high (it is) then vote with your wallet and don't get one till it is at a price you think is fair. People not buying a PS3 will drive down projected demand which will lower prices. It's economics, stupid.

I think that's a rather complete list, honestly. A little something for everyone except, as you say, the sports fans. Yeah, perhaps ExciteTruck should have been swapped out with a good sports game.

I'm glad Okami made the list. It's easily the best game I've played all year, and the late Clover Studios deserves more recognition.

Nothing wrong with Excite Truck being on the list -- it's a perfectly good arcade racer, the kind of game where you just want to go balls-out fast without worrying about hitting the best turn lines or tuning your ride. If it had more buildings and hills, it'd be San Francisco Rush (and wouldn't that be a blast on the Wii?).

"...nd PSP owners are also left out in the cold."

They were already out in the cold, mourning the death of the PSP since almost a year or so.
