Guild Wars beta testing to begin in China
As if Chinese gamers didn't have enough online gaming to occupy their leisure (and work) time, The9 has announced Guild Wars China will begin closed beta testing on Nov. 29. One of the most anticipated games on the mainland, Guild Wars attracted 200,000 applicants on the first day of beta registration last week. Maybe an aspiring Chinese clan will unseat South Korea's reigning Guild Wars champs The Last Pride at the next world tournament.The9 also hosts World of Warcraft and Webzen's Soul of the Ultimate Nation, but it is unknown if the Shanghai-based developer's Guild Wars deal with NCsoft also includes the Factions and Nightfall expansions.

Are there no comments for a lack of flame worthy material? It seems so...
I always find China to be an enigma when it comes to media, what they filter, what they let in freely... especially when so much counterfeit comes out of that nation. But of course, china will become the greatest game market ever seen, there is an eligable gaming populus equivalent in number to the whole US of A

The only "beta" thing about this is the translation.
I hope that this doesn't end up with spam in-game about buying gold. Its bad enough you can buy 100 plat (100k gold) on ebay for $7 now. Gold farming for real world profit is wrong. Real-money-trade contributes to terrorism I expect will be the next thing out of the DHS.

Is it just me, or does the girl on the side look like she's giving us the finger?
Mank @ Nov 21st 2006 5:08AM
@Spoit: The evil INDEX finger!

The reigning champions are not actually EviL, but Idiot Savants (iQ) from America.
Gen Etixx @ Nov 28th 2006 4:19PM
@Spoit: That is actually Eve, the Necromancer Character that develops throughout the campaigns.
