"Can these morons stop lumping Microsoft and Sony into the same goddamn category every single time a gaming topic comes up?"

Yeah, I don't blame you. I wouldn't want to be lumped in with Sony fans either...

"After all blacks are at the epicenter of everything wrong in this country including video game launches am I rite or am I rite?"

I don't believe that at all. I actually said during my previous post that I was NOT refering to just the black community. "(don't mistake that comment as racism. I know plenty of white people like that)."

Just because someone acts "street" doesn't make them black. In fact my old (white) roommate always listened to hip-hop (including white rappers like Eminem), and always used their vernacular.

I was lucky he had a 360 but he hated it. He never played games like Dead Rising or Prey, he mostly played Madden. He said he hated it on the Xbox 360 and that he couldn't wait to play it on the PS3. I told him that it wouldn't be much different, plus besides maybe Resistance they don't really have that many other interesting games.

He didn't care. He needed to get the Playstation 3 on day one, because it was called the Playstation 3. He needed to get it because it was the cool system everyone mentioned on MTV, and during pre-game football shows. That's what I implied by "urban". The main reason that the PS2 was so successful was because it got out Madden 2001 and Grand Theft Auto before the Xbox did.

When we refer to "casual gamers" we are refering to two groups: types that play cell phone or computer games like Snood during work, and the crowd that only plays a couple of games during the year. Luckily for Microsoft, they were able to hit a bit of a combination of hardcore and casual gamers with Halo, and this is why they ended up in second place. Nintendo on the other hand never really got a handle on this crowd, and that is why the Gamecube was a distant third.

Now I don't want to be thought of as a fanboy here. There are definitely some great PS2 games out there. I'm just refering to the community who misses games like Okami or Psychonauts and instead plays the same games every year.

Now obviously the vast majority of people who play Xbox/Xbox 360 or PS2/PS3 just for Madden, GTA and Halo are not violent. But look at the other things a fair number of people in this group of many different races are into. Scarface, football, rap, MTV. Sure things like rap or Scarface were first made popular by blacks, but it has extended very far into the white community.

I knew a white kid in high school who always got into fights. You think he was into Mario? No, he was into GTA. Now I'm not gonna be Jack Thompson here, as I don't believe that violent video games cause violence in real life. However, I do believe(and I know this is a generalization) that people who are involved in a violent culture to begin with are more likely to play GTA and Madden, than Mario and Zelda.

This is why we saw a lot more violence at the PS3 launch. I promise you even if there were as many PS3's shipped on day one, there would've been more fighting and robberies than at the Wii launch. Nobody wants to say it because we live in a very politicaly correct country, but it is a different crowd for both systems. A crowd made up of many colors.
