Waffle irons are completely overrated. A PS3 grill you say? Now you're talking. Well a working one finally arrived care of some anti-PS3 blokes who gutted a 20GB unit and inserted a sizzling griddle turning the $500 machine into a console cooking monstrosity. The thing even slants left for proper grease drainage. Premium indeed!

I think it's funny to see what people are really doing with the PS3. I know the guy that samshes things does this with every system, but that was just awesome! To know there are thousands of people trying to obtain the PS3, and that guy did that, was amazing. Then people playing ROMs on the PS3. I went into GameStop today and the manager told me that some people that don't have internet couldn't even play their PS3 cause it needed some sort of an update to work. But, at least they have something shiny to look at! And now this guy turns a PS3 into a grill. Thank You, Sony for sucking so much that people would rather cook with your system than actually play the stupid thing!

omfg. this is so stupid! just because the god damn 'wii' (heaven forbid i take the title in vain since its like some freaking bible now) is so much 'better' than the ps3 gives people like this NO RIGHT to go around and mock the fact that some people still LIKE sony because of someother reason than the fact that the wii is popular and has zelda. this is ridiculous and unnecessary. Sony doesn't suck just because its expensive. there is a plethora more plus sides to the ps3 then there are the freaking wii. The only people who would ever like the wii are those who just mindlessly follow along with everything nintendo sells because they're nintendo and not actually think about the QUALITY of the game. But whatever its not like you stupid inconsiderate closed minded JERKS would care. i'm so sick of this stupid war but i assure you, the wii will not go far.

What are you talking about? People have EVERY 'right' to do something like this, to 'spite' others if they feel so inclined; you have EVERY right to not care what other people do, say, or think, and you have EVERY right to grow a pair. Jesus, just because you're offended that someone would do something like that to a PS3 because you've put forth value and emotion into some piece of machinery doesn't mean people shouldn't do something like this. Just for those people crying foul and whatnot.
He didn't even break the thing. He took out the guts first (helping to create a tutorial on how to open up a PS3)and just added a grill into the case.
In the end, he ended up repackaging the guts back in and ebaying the "used" PS3 system.

why'd they pick PS3? because it's so limited in supply and rather expensive. Doing something dastardly to a PS3 will incite greater emotions.
The Wii is too small to be a toaster, and over-supplied to elicit much fanboy ire.
Xbox360 is old already, doing something to it now would probably give you a "meh?" reaction.
Thus, PS3 is the best candidate.

Well another flame war between Nintendo and Sony fan boys has started. How about both companies being bashed lately? Both have been disappointing in at least a few respects, and joystiq has acknowledged that for the most part. Please, stop saying one console is receiving less flack than the other. If you don't want to do that, keep score of delights versus annoyances of each console.

People are getting mad about this? Something you guys might not understand: This grill was made through donations. They didn't waste money, some people just decided to give them a few bucks and it added up. After awhile, they had enough for parts and made it. Would be nice to turn the other consoles into something similar.

Just so you know, Sony sent out demo units like this to many many video game testers, reviewers, and developers. The person that did this had just such a ps3, and because they were the demo units, they didn't have bluetooth, Sixaxis, and many other features, and were not for re-sale. So this guy was probably a reviewer, bought himself a new ps3 and had nothing to do with this one.
As a side note, it is funny what he did with it. If it worked well then it would be even better.

I like Nintendo for the simple reason that I've always played their stuff. They've proven themselves dependable in my mind with having game that I like. I will not FORCE someone to play a Nintendo if they don't want to. If you'd rather pay $500-$600 for a PS3, go ahead, $400 for a 360? Sure. You're freakin wallet. For the record, I have not bought a Wii yet ($300 Canadian total is a little too much). I normally do not buy a console until it is $150, but these days I suppose I'll raise that to $200, as that is a little more reasonable compared to the early sprite-based and 40-polygon-per-map systems. Whatever.
Good gamers, be sensible. Unless someone takes YOUR system and turns into an oven, don't get pissed, unless YOU are a 'biased fanboy'. Besides, they cleaned it, put it back together, and sold it on eBay afterwards, so its not like they tampered with Sony's sacred honor, as if they had any.

As a closing statement, the ps2 was popular for 1 reason: It appealed to people with ADD. Tired of spending weeks trying to figure out a puzzle on a Nintendo game (IE, Link to the Past)? Try God of War, where all puzzles can be solved in 2 minutes or less! Also, lots of big BOOMs, other loud sounds, and pretty lights to distract you!
Before any flames me, I am a Nintendo fan, but not a 'fanboy'. If I play the Wii and it sucks ass, I will admit it. Don't get your nickers in a knot.
