OT: I can't wait for MLB2k7. It better be fully next-gen thru and thru though.

Well, how do we get Wii Play if we already have a full set of Wiimotes?

A well-done, full-fledged (aka not the Wii Sports) version of baseball on the Wii would contain lethal amounts of win.

Wow, 12 player multi? It'd be great at parties, though beyond that, it's quite excessive. As for Castlevania, I dunno what Koji is talking about. I'd love to be able to swing the whip around.

that's kinda messed up.. I just bought another wii-mote so that I can play with my gf but apparently if I want Wii play i'll have to fork up another 40 bucks? Can't we just use our existing receipts or somethign to obtain the game?

Well... that's kinda obvious, don't you think? ;-)

Do you think it's normal to have over 11 other people and not call it a party? haha

"I definitely don't want to make a game with gimmicky controls where you swing the controller like a whip..."

No, you'd much rather make a game with gimmicky controls where you push a button unlike a whip...

Logic really is an amazing thing.

# 7 - HAHAHAHAHA excellent comment. Although I was more thinking along the lines of "Yeah don't make a Wii version with gimmicky controls, in fact, don't make a Wii version at all, your game sucks"

God I HATE Castlevania. It's so 20 years ago, even though it's modern, it's shallow, linear and all round pathetic.

I agree with Koji! No 3d gimmicks, and no wii remote gimmicks for the castlevania formula....

Please just use the 'classic' controller...and please make a 2D wii castlevania game! More Soma!

Dude, lay off Igarashi. He's one of the good guys. He is the crown-prince of old-school at this point. Remember, that's one of the facets of the Wii that rules, it's not all about swinging the remote around.

As long as it doesn't slow down gameplay it's not a gimmick. And why not include different modes (kinda like difficulty settings) so you can whip something with a wii mote if you want or those more indoctrinated with the series can just press a button. Part of appealing to the mainstream is making the game appealing to hardcore and casual gamers

I say, bring on the TigerWoods too! We need more realism.

Besides, it would be a lot easier on the shoulders..

btw, has anyone got smoked by a wiimote yet? They need to make a padding attachment for these things! err a WiiSock

Does Wii Sports have a pass-the-Wiimote mode, or a suitable equivalent for those of us who want to wait until Wii Play and/or different colors to get more Wiimotes?

no, there is no current SKU for Wii Play without the remote. that's not to say that one couldn't show up... for example, we do have a SKU for Wii Sports in our system for some reason, and it's under a 1/1/07 release. anyways, Wii Play is only $49.99 and drops 1/15 so you can look at it as getting a game (9, rather) for $10 or getting a remote for free - either way, I know I'll be picking it up

Crazy IGA should stick to 2D Castlevania games. The last two 3D games really weren't that great. Legacy of Darkness on the N64 was more fun, and that's pretty bad. If it wasn't for the decent GBA/DS games then the franchise would be about as bland as Mega Man has become.

So if you aren't going to make a good Castlevania for the Wii then just don't make it at all. No gimmicks, no bland architechture, no tower of wtf.

Castlevania ill needs a savior such as you.

Superdotman there is a "pass-the-Wiimote mode" in Wii Sports. I used it last night with 3 other friends. But it only works with Bowling and Golf.

One reason why whips don't work well for simulation gameplay: Whips are tricky to use. Swords, you swing them, they cut stuff. Whips, about the only thing most people would know is to whip the tip at an object. It's like getting a person new to computers, and expecting them to type 60 words per minute. Do you seriously think you, or any other average person, can do crazy whipping combos at multiple enemies (using the momentum of the swing, so you don't have to stop the whip every time you use it to aim correctly), or swing the whip in such a manner that instead of hitting stuff, it grabs them?

So yes, whipping should stay as button presses, because it's too complicated for an average gamer.

There's a way to solve the dillema though, instead of simulation, use abstraction. For example, you could treat the remote as a pointer, and have the character attack the target the remote points to, and depending on button/remote status, attack differently.

What people don't really understand that even if the remote is better at simulation, it doesn't mean it's worse at abstraction. Button pressing has it's limitations, such as being usually only having two states (exception, trigger buttons), and making targetting more abstract than it should be. The remote does have it's faults, but it is hard to argue that it has less potential than a conventional game controller.

So Konami could just make a Super Castlevania style whip where it flops around unless you hit the A button. It wouldn't have to be a realistic whip. Throwing axes, holy water and knives would be awesome!

Why is Nintendo always so late with their baseball games? It's amazing that they expect them to sell with such a street date.

Well, that's just super. I only want two remotes, but I want Wii Play. I guess I'll be slumming it 1-player 'til January.

That said, I'm not liking what I hear about Wii Play. These games have so many opportunities to include complex (yet intuitive!) control schemes yet Nintendo seems to consistently dumb it down in favor of gesture-based schemes. I'd rather press a button to swing a sword if all my sword-swinging gestures result in the same on-screen action.

The MLB game should be interesting. I think finally they can make a game where people will get a realistic number of walks, since you can lay off the pitches a lot easier with the wiimote than by hitting a button (in theory)
