World of Warcraft adds new spell: TPS reports
15
A new World of Warcraft commercial started airing on Monday, and it features everyone's favorite anti-cubicle movie, Office Space. It seems that Peter is too busy to talk to Lumbergh, because he's currently pwning in WoW. I think they really missed the boat here, because they should have featured Milton playing the game. Plus that would let them do a South Park-esque tie-in where the Red Stapler becomes a new weapon in the game. Either that or burning down the building as a pretty sweet paladin spell.
Ah, yeah. Mmmkay?

*Maybe* Blizzard got the idea from this: http://hellopeter.ytmnd.com/

stolen from a ytmnd. Amazing that they actually thought WOW players or anyone with the interweb for that matter wouldn't notice.

Cool. BTW, #5... YTMND's don't make it on TV usually.
Not hating on YTMND... love the site... but whoever thought of this should get mass props. Maybe whoever thought of it got credit?

#6, he's saying that a guy from YTMND thought of the idea (http://hellopeter.ytmnd.com/), and Blizzard just altered it to make their commercial.
Which is probably the case.

In cool commercial guy voice: "Play it at work, instead of working."

Incredible. Pardon me, Joystiq bloggers, but I found no problem with it and think it might tempt a few non-gamers of our generation to look at the website where the demo is available. Even without the red stapler. Whether more people will play, well hey, it's advertising.

What the heck do you think this has to do with YTMND? They're nothing alike, other than they feature the same clip from Office Space. IIRC, Peter was playing a game in the movie, so this is more similar to the original than it is to YTMND.
Damn awesome commercial. :)

bravo Blizzard, for making something funny, different, and culturally relevant. They could have so easily gone with some lame X-TREME AWESOMENESS commercial, but they did it right. and yes, now it's just a matter of time before the red Swingline becomes an epic drop. sweet.
btw, I can't wait to see what anti-gaming types say about this...
