Quoting nexgenwars.com as 'fact' with the 'most up to date' and 'actual numbers sold' is just ludicrous. Without quoting exact methods and sources other than to say they're 'researching sales facts from dozens of sources to track the worldwide sales', their numbers are completely worthless. Especially since you can practically see the numbers update if you refresh every few minutes. What are we supposed to think, that they're polling some secret sales figure XML feed from Best Buy and other retailers and tallying the numbers up?

I cannot believe what tools B33 and ">" are. I mean, we facetiously talk about "how's the Kool-aide taste" but man, you two are the epitomy of that.

Plain and simple: prove to us that 400,000 consoles shipped to North America for the November 17th launch day. Regurgitating Sony PR will not cut it. The writing is on the wall that less than 200,000 shipped, now make us believe it isn't so.

Oh, and B33, 6 months ago you WERE proproting that the PS3 would destroy the 360/Wii. Why so somber about all three now? I am led to believe that even you are losing loyalty to Sony. Welcome to the light. Embrace it.

You can't 'prove' that 400k shipped anymore than anyone here can 'prove' the analyst's claims of 200k or less. Are they providing all the raw data and the exact methods that they used to come up with that figure? What if there was a flaw in their logic? Who's to say their method is correct? Who's to say it's not? What if Sony issued a press release next Monday and say they sold 500k units in 9 days. Would that satisfy you?

All of these numbers being touted serve nothing but to fuel the flames started by fan boys on either side. Until the November NPD sales figures come out some time mid December, this whole discussion is moot. I'd trust their numbers more than those from analysts calling up stores or the console manufacturer.

Hey Joost Schuur, how's the Kool-aide?

No one is reporting 400,000 launched, not even Sony is backing that number anymore (see article above this one). So sit down, shut up, and have a drink. It'll be bitter-sweet all too soon.

In case nobody mentioned this yet, NexGenWars has GLOBAL launch numbers.

Subtract about 100,000 from Sony's numbers for the North America launch.

Oh, and remember, Wii launches in other countries in various days during December. So that's the reason they aren't over a million yet

No no, y'all got it wrong.
Of the 400000 "planned" to ship, 200000 got stolen and are being sold in Hong Kong and some asian countries for $2000 a pop.

NexGenWars' numbers are estimates, not accurate facts. They might be good estimates, but they're just estimates.

From NexGenWars:
"These numbers are only estimates, but they are constantly monitored and upated to assure the closest estimates possible for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Wii."

They're estimates.

...

Hey guys! I saw these ESTIMATES on NexGenWars and they totally validate your points.

lol, its almost funny.
this has been going on for almost a year, WHENEVER an xbox 360 fanboy speaks it seems to involve flaming someone else.

It would not surprise me at all if Sony released lower than expected numbers, but we are going to need a slightly better source. if Sony can make 100,000 a week [which should be easy] and make weekly shipments, it will have a leg over the 360 launch in the fact that there will be a steady stream of new arrivals.

oh P.S. ps3 has a launch advantage over the 360, when the ps3 overheats, YOU DONT HAVE TO GET A NEW ONE. Infact, the ps3 produces LESS heat than the 360, this statement has come from SEVERAL sources including major newspapers. the rest of ps3's problems (no background downloading etc etc) is EASILY fixable by a simple firmware update.

"55. Posted at 10:17PM on Nov 22nd 2006 by NexGenWars numbers are estimates 2 stars"

You do realize an 'estimate' is an EDUCATED guess right? Right? ... Its not some random number they throw out there on a whim.

If you believe an estimate is an UNEDUCATED guess, i think you should stay in school and keep learning. THATS RIGHT, YOU'VE GOT THE MEANINGS OF WORDS JUMBLED UP, dumbass. lol.

Yeah, i went there, took photos, had them developed and showed everyone. /random.

Thing is EVERY time a Sony executive is asked DIRECTLY if they shipped 400 thousand unit they refuse to answer. That is NOT a answer that you can assume they sold or shipped 400k! That is a answer I disrespectful politician would give you to not trap him. I guess it works on some people because they want to believe hype and come to there 'own' conclusions. If the answer was yes they sould 400k they would not just say we couldn't be happier without also confirming the numbers. Soy has lied for over 8 months on there shipment and you are STILL believing them? Even when they will not directly answer a question that has been asked of them over 14 times, since launch? Are you THAT stupid?
