#31 wtf??
Of course there's going to be errors. There's errors with every system all the time. They're always blown out of proportion at system launch. Ahh well... I'll wait until a game comes out that I want :)

Nintendo: 1st rate hardware, 1st rate customer service
Microsoft: 2nd rate hardware, 1st rate customer service
Sony: 3rd rate hardware, 3rd rate customer service

Ok, look, if you said anything other than something along the lines of "This is new hardware, a complicated system, being released to a rabidly eager and critical population of consumers", then you are just wasting our time.

Everybody knew, including me, Sony, YOU, the analysts, and the press, that there would be problems. EVERY new system has problems. So what? They'll get them worked out.

It's all so obvious that they've F'd up big-time in supply, features, and possibly (but impossible to know yet) quality, that you guys whining about crap are just sucking the life out of the world. Man, just shut up. Get one when you want. Buy something else. Have fun.

Ite? Give it a shot.

Damn you ppl are lucky.
When I opened up the PS3 box it jumped at me at tried to burn me. Damn thing almost killed me too. It wasn't before I managed to disable it's blu ray of death laser than it calmed down. Now I have it chained up in the basement from where it still screames obscenities and keep calling me names.
Oh yeah, true story too, damn it.

My mate works for Codemasters in the UK, and he says that 3/10 of the retail units they got through did this out of the box.

It frustrates me how Sony can be so close to getting things right with all their products (mostly aesthetically), yet they ALWAYS manage to screw it up in the details.

@49

By a game you want, I take it you mean one that ISN'T going to come out on 360 either first or at the same time? (Is it just me or did I see Elder Scrolls 4 on a 'future releases' list for PS3... read into that one what you like)

Anyone had any issues with Backwards compatibility? I ask this because, you know, PS3 is supposed to be 100% compatible out of the box and all... yet not even all PS2s play all PS2 games.

And another question, anyone had bad experience talking to Sony's notoriously crap Customer Service department?

I had a bad experience. My PS2 stopped reading regular CD's, the ones with blue/purple bottoms, about a year into it's life. Sony wanted 180 bucks for fixing it and shipping even though it was a known problem with first generation PS2's and that I only live a 300 miles from their office in San Diego. I almost could have a bought a brand new console at that price. I would never buy a Sony console during early production again.

I don't know if it was intentional, but it's kind of funny and ironic how Joker's "If something can go wrong, it goes wrong" post is repeated twice. I think something went wrong there. :P

Yep, I have one of those broken Playstation 3s and customer service gave me every excuse they could so they wouldn't have to fix it. I'm waiting to get it back until then my XBOX 360 works great. Side note- when my XBOX 360 broke after two weeks, I called Microsoft customer service. After saying they were really sorry about 5 times I had a box the next day to send it back in. I was back in action in less then 5 days. I hope one day I will be able to tell someone what plays better. But I will have to always back Microsoft when asked what should I buy. That is easy buy the one that backs there product "Microsoft"

I bought a 60GB version of the PS3 and has the exact same feeder problem. Sony representative agreed to replace the malfunctioning unit... still waiting for the replacement kit.
