GameStop employees fake PS3 theft, face charges
Two GameStop employees were arrested earlier this week in connection with the theft of four PlayStation 3 units. Tauryn Robert Hodge and Gerald Anthony Keys, both 19, face charges of suspected embezzlement, burglary, and conspiracy. Hodge has also been slapped with a charge for filing a false police report.Last Thursday, on the eve of the PlayStation 3 launch, Hodge told police that two armed gunmen robbed his GameStop and made off with four of the coveted consoles. Despite not yet recovering the stolen PS3s, detectives have determined that Hodge and at least one other accomplice were actually the ones responsible for the theft. Both Hodge and Keys have posted bail and are no longer in police custody.

UnmaskedHero @ Nov 24th 2006 3:07PM
Haha! The worst part? The PS3 isn't worth getting put in jail... much less $600.

Maybe your just bad at poetry j, but you ruined a perfectly good poem with an awful ending. All you had to do was make it rhyme.
Roses are Red
Violets and Blue
That kid got pwned
And his little friend too
See was that so hard? :P

When you think you heard it all, you realize you didn't! Stupid kids!
JJ @ Nov 24th 2006 3:19PM
Well hey unmasked... i knew of people who got arrested for stealing jordans...shoes of all things.
So its not hard to see why someone would try to steal a six hundred dollar console, let alone 4 of em.
FuzzyPickles @ Nov 24th 2006 3:22PM
Spike:
it's called a joke. Replacing an expected rhyme with one of its synonyms must be one of the oldest in the book.
William @ Nov 24th 2006 3:24PM
How could the police EVER determine that no one did indeed steal them? I mean like, if there's no proof they did, and no proof they didn't, how can you arrest someone? Guilty beyond a resonable doubt.. lets hope that holds up.
Pal @ Nov 24th 2006 3:25PM
Spike: Maybe "your" bad at grammar, but we won't pick on ya :)
Xiath @ Nov 24th 2006 3:29PM
Unmasked: I know one person who got arrested after attempting to steal condoms. You know, the things you can get for FREE if you go to a health clinic.
halobreaker @ Nov 27th 2006 2:28PM
Did you hear about the guy that got put in jail for 3 years for killing himself?
killploki @ Nov 24th 2006 3:44PM
i know for a fact this type of thing happens all the time in big box stores.....sure maybe not the fake story, but the employee theft. you think those punks that they hire to work shipping arent going to be tempted by all the electronics around them when they are making $7/hour? i used to be one of those punks, i know. now that i am older i realize it wasnt the smartest thing to do but since i was never sloppy and never got caught it was well worth it at the time.
Xavier @ Nov 24th 2006 3:50PM
The only reason they posted bail was from selling the PS3s LOL MIRITE?
Retrofied @ Nov 24th 2006 3:50PM
They posted bail with the thousands of dollars they got for selling the PS3's on ebay lolololool
Xavier @ Nov 24th 2006 3:58PM
I beat you to the punch!
UnmaskedHero @ Nov 24th 2006 4:19PM
Ummm, Xiath and JJ... I know people steal things... condoms, shoes, whatever. I never said this was the first time I've heard of people taking things that don't belong to them. All I said was the PS3 isn't worth getting thrown in jail for, much less $600. That's all. Nothing about my inability to believe someone would actually steal... shoot, I stole my fair share of candy when I was a kid.

All these guys at Gamestop, EB Games and Game Crazy are all bastards. They can all go to hell for all I am concerned. Those mf ers in the Akron, Ohio area basically did the same thing. I have confirmation that one of the guys who work at a Wooster, OH Game Crazy kept a PS3 for himself, I think he paid, but he called a friend of mine and asked him if he wanted to play it the day it came out. I was told by 3 Game Crazy stores that one got 0 PS3 and the other two told me they each got 1, but that guy told my friend all 3 stores got at least 8. These guys are pieces of stuff I won't print, but I hate them and hope they find cement shoes and fall off a cliff!!!! I didn't get 1 PS3 when I preordered at 4 different stores to ensure I got at least one for me and my 3 friends!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HA! #3. that was awsome.
Greg @ Nov 24th 2006 5:29PM
I love your math, Jeremy.
Employees buying systems = as bad as theft
Akron, OH = the entire country
Game Crazy = Gamestop/EB
ninja @ Nov 24th 2006 6:17PM
LOL!
kellzea @ Nov 24th 2006 6:19PM
employies buying consols is theft? u retard. oh dear god. a butcher bought some bacon. hang the bastard.
his poem wasnt suposed to make sence
theft is wrong, its against the law. if you dont get paid a lot for a job, you shouldnt steal the produce. you should ask for a raise.
and what you you mean they cant prove it. they quite obviously can or they wouldnt have arrested them. convictions requre evidence. they probably left a paper trail (and i dont mean like crumbs) or sold them on their OWN ebay acounts.
lol but its funny whatching people rant about shit they dont understand (and yes i have bad spelling, im dislexic, so dont get the "you cant spell blah blah blah" comeback against me if i manage to upset anyone insensitive enough to get rieled up froma forum post)
=P

The threshold for felony grand theft in CA is $400, whoops.
mywhitenoise @ Nov 24th 2006 7:55PM
Are you serious!? Is this the Elk Grove one that was robbed? Because I reserved one from there, and didnt get it because of this shit, and I've been saying from the beginning that it was an inside job! Holy shit.
Jeremy @ Nov 24th 2006 9:03PM
Haha.. yea, I get what you were saying. My point wasn't that the people who work at all the game stores were buying all the systems and it was as bad as stealing, but I think it is BS that they bought all the systems and didn't even sell to the customers. I was number 2 at 3 different Game Crazy stores and they told me they only got ONE PS3. Whatever. Then, even at Gamestop, my friend was number 8 on the preorder list, but on launch day, they said he was 12, but they were only taking 8 preorders and told him he was the last one on October 10, the day they took preorders.
J-MoNeY @ Nov 26th 2006 7:25PM
HAHA, That store is like 10 minutes away from my house. What idiots.
