Today's hottest game video: Wii Sports 91 pin strike
Today's hottest game video comes to you courtesy of Wii Sports. In one of the bowling training stages, you have the chance to roll at 91 pins. This guy goes for the rail though, and misses every pin, yet manages to knock 'em all down. Now that's bowling. Of course, if you tried that with Walter from The Big Lebowski, you'd get a .45 in your face, so watch it. Give it a whirl and let us know how it goes, just don't punch a hole in your TV with the Wii-mote.

Yeah my friend did it twice after seeing the video.
It does a sweet replay thing when you get it.
Cool easter egg.
EGO_BRAIN @ Nov 24th 2006 12:10AM
I was unlucky and got stuck at work today/tonight until 3am...and luckily brought my Wii with me.. I watched the video earlier on YouTube and tried it for myself.... It took me a couple of tries.....but it DOES work. It makes the explosion sound and then they all fall down..... Awesome!
Stu L Tissimus @ Nov 24th 2006 12:15AM
I'd just like to be the first one to say: XDWTF?!
Eric Bostrom @ Nov 24th 2006 12:25AM
Dude: Come on Walter, it's Smokey. So his wiimote slipped over a little, it's just a game.
Walter: This is a league game. This determines who enters the next round-robin. am I wrong?
Smokey: Yeah, but--
Walter: Am I wrong!?
Ted @ Nov 24th 2006 12:23AM
It works I do it every time I get to the 91 pins
Kirby @ Nov 24th 2006 12:23AM
Ha, nice. When I get the Wii, I want to at least try it once or twice without using the rail trick.
SpexFox @ Nov 24th 2006 12:40AM
umm....ok 0.0
Paul @ Nov 24th 2006 12:43AM
Smokey if you mark that frame you're entering a world of pain
syco @ Nov 24th 2006 12:44AM
¡Dios mío man!
nitefire @ Nov 24th 2006 12:51AM
Ha Ha , My Mii is Walter from Big Lebowski. Glasses and everything.
Haven't had an open frame this game yet.
Oshi @ Nov 24th 2006 12:52AM
Odd, I just did that on the 55 pin, and it didn't work... Just went all the way down the rail and said 0 pins...
Huzzah!! @ Nov 24th 2006 1:06AM
This is the kind of thing I want to figure out on my own. Ever heard of a **SPOILER WARNING**, Kevin??? Oh well, too late now, I'm trying it next time I play.
Kenny @ Nov 24th 2006 1:39AM
@12
This is hardly the thing anybody should have to put a spoiler warning in front of. Seriously. Its only a little trick.
Dean @ Nov 24th 2006 10:48AM
Who the hell thinks of doing such things?
Don Jose @ Nov 24th 2006 3:56AM
This is not 'Nam, this is bowling. There are rules...
Ian @ Nov 24th 2006 2:02AM
LMAO @ Spoiler Warning.
vidGuy @ Nov 24th 2006 2:09AM
"Odd, I just did that on the 55 pin, and it didn't work... Just went all the way down the rail and said 0 pins..."
It only works on the 91 pin frame. If you look at the far edges in the black when your ball gets down the lane, you'll see a red light on either side. During the 91 pin frame, your rail lines up with these lights. If you put the ball all the way down the lane on top of the rail, you push the red light button, and BOOM!

Awesome trick! I just tried it for myself (it took me 16 minutes to get it) and that is awesome. There seems to be a little red button thing above each rail and that's what triggers it. Also, it apparently only works on the 91 pins, so don't bother to try the others like I did: just use them for rail-riding practice ;)
NaT @ Nov 24th 2006 2:34AM
vidGuy you beat me! grrr.....
Kevin @ Nov 24th 2006 2:38AM
Wow, thats cool. I was lucky and on my 2nd attempt i got a legit strike on the 91 pin. My total score that round was 602.
White Rose Duelist @ Nov 24th 2006 9:42AM
Best strike I've gotten so far is 55 pins. I'll need to try this when I get home.
Working the Friday after Thanksgiving FTL.
Kevin @ Nov 27th 2006 5:41PM
Why... How.... WTF?!?!?
Squeek @ Nov 24th 2006 10:04AM
91 is so annoyingly difficult, but I wouldn't want to cheat to get Gold.
Best I've done is a 78-pin strike, and that brought me up to 534 as my high score.
Power Throw Bowling training is the best game on Wii Sports.
DeShaun @ Nov 24th 2006 10:21AM
I have to try that when I get home. It's funny, I was bored one day and started trying to ride the rails, and I never thought to do it on the final frame. I've gotten a legit 91 pin strike though. Silver Medal for me though, because I usually leave one pin standing on EVERY frame.
Walter @ Nov 24th 2006 10:29AM
OVER THE LINE!!!!
Im sorry smokey, you were over the line.
Karen @ Nov 24th 2006 10:57AM
Anyone see the World of Warcraft commercial.

Not to gloat, but I got it on my first try.
Hit A to allow your character to turn, aim right 3 notches, and go all the way to the right until you can't go any further and bowl straight. Make sure to let go of B to allow the ball to get on top of the rail (duh).
Freakin' fantastic.
John Johnson @ Nov 25th 2006 9:34PM
I got it at about 5 in the morning last night. Totally awesome. Just go two notches to the right, move all the way to the right, let your Mii walk up to the rail until he stops, and throw the ball with a slight right spin, works almost everytime.
Tara @ Dec 3rd 2006 10:41PM
Well, I've been playing Wii bowling since we got it. My family and I tried beating it and just recently I did finally hit the 91 pin...and I was so excited. So my brother in law and I got online to see if we could see if they point high scores on the Power Throw. We then found the video and tried at...and as I am writing this..he just got it with the cheat...and beat my score. Now I'm off to try to cheat and win!!!
MVPDUDE @ Feb 19th 2007 10:14PM
woa!! Awesome!! does it work for lets say 20 pins. get what i mean? ok ,does it only work for the 91 pins?
