This is the game I'm getting with my 360 for Christmas this year, and it's good to hear good news about it after all the "Ranked matches suck" crap I've heard. I need to be re-hyped for it, anyone have a good article or five I could read?

im an avid halo 2 player and i've gotta say that since gow came out, i've been converted. its that good. if you have a 360, get gears, if not, its worth getting a 360 for. its that good. seriously. if the worst issue people can find with it is a flaw in the matchmaking system, and not the game itself, then its a pretty damn good game.

I predict it will be #1 until Halo 3.

Multiplayer is too simple, which is good for me personally, but I don't think it will hold majority of players long enough.

I bought my 360 from my friend on Wednesday. I played halo 2 Wednesday and Thursday. I bought gears Friday and haven't taken it out of my 360 since! Really it's that good!

On a side note: The friend I bought my 360 from sold it because he bought a Wii, and he no longer played his 360. Which I understood, because honestly the Wii is a lot of fun. I let him see and play gears when I got it, and he literally was pissed! Why? Because he had just sold his 360, and saw how great gears was! He even offered to buy it back, and for a $100 profit on my end!!

Halo is way to overrated. GoW is much better.

OK, I never got into the hype of GoW, and now I have seen the gameplay, all the news of it knocking Halo off the top spot, ect....I'm still not bothered!

I would rather play CoD3 (at the moment), and R6: Vegas when its released! :)

If it is still at the top spot in a few months, then I may buy it...

I just think MS has put too much hype into GoW, knowing that Halo 3 - which will be the biggest and best selling game ever - is nearly a year behind, and PS3 and Wii would catch up..

Though GoW is an excellent game both online and off, it just doesn't "feel" as fun as Halo 2 does. I haven't sat down and played Halo 2 in months, but really I prefer playing it online over anything else.

GoW is getting stale for me, and quickly. I think the most devastating factor affecting GoW from being "THE BEST OMGZ!!11!" is the fact that it lacks the kind of support Halo had/has. Granted the game was only recently released, CliffyB stated that no adjustments or additional game types would be made available in the future, just maps.

I don't really care how many maps they throw at me, give me something other than a deviation of Team Deathmatch.

i can only see GoW holding top spot for about 3 months, thats gonna be its "Wow the grafix are great, gamplay is intuitive, so much fun, etc..." phase lifespan, then people will realize that the game has basically one gametype, 10 maps, like 5 weps, and with trueskill only benefiting people who play the most, that it really isnt worth all our time. good game, fun co-op, fun online, SHORT lifespan... :( so sad b/c i really wanted this to be that game that held me over till Halo 3, guess there are gonna need to be others (Mass Effect)

I played Halo 2 every day for 16 months or so since 11/9/04, took a break for a long time with various other games, then pikced up Gears on 11/7. After playing Gears for countless hours, I recently put Halo 2 in for the first time in oh so long, and after 1 game, put Gears right back in. Halo 2 is filled with screaming, uncooperativeness, and general discurtiousness. >_

i just got me a 360 two weeks ago and bought gow with it. it's a cool game, but i still go back and forth between halo 2 and gow. i'm not sure if halo 2's better or i just like the feel better, but i think gow is way over-hyped. i like how halo2 offers the kill-everyone slayer multiplayer, i play that when i dont feel like being on a team and talking. it's a fun, crazy free for all for a few minutes. i hate how i can't choose a custom game like gow though. i hate how gow doesn't have a slayer type game where you can just rumble against other players. you do get to choose your games though, and make public matches unlike halo2 where only friends can join your hosted matches.

I really don't understand why people continue to compare Halo 2 and Gears of War; their whole gameplay systems are completely different, as are their mulitplayers.

To be honest, I much prefer multiplayer on Gears of War as I've always wanted a decent cover system on an online game. Plus, I'm also a fan of the 'rounds' system, where you don't repeatedly respawn, get sniped, respawn, get sniped, respawn...

However, GoW will soon become repetitive unless Epic live up to their word and continue to add more content.

I enjoyed Gears, but the majority of my enjoyment came from co-op. Rainbow Six Vegas is what's been taking up most of my multiplayer time.

I played the HELL out of Gears for the first few days I had it, but lately I've been playing Halo 2 almost exclusively. I think I've gotten sick of Geow's "RUSH 4 THE GRENADES" multiplayer, and gotten back to good ol' objective games in Halo 2.

Good game. Fun for quick "pop" *Clif B's terminology not mine* gameplay.

Till Lost Planet and better yet Halo 3 are released this will pass the time, and should always be a fun "pop" in and play game, but it doesn't have what it takes to keep my attention long enough.

Sure it's fun, but not something I want to play consistently.

A good game for this generation, but in no means the be all end all game....
