Disney Toontown out for Macs
Disney Online announced the Mac release -- and an update for PC players -- of its Toontown Online MMO cartoon game. The game lets players create their own cartoon characters to propagate the world; over 15 million Toon characters have been created by PC players. Both Mac and PC users can access a handful of new "gags," including the old wedding-cake-in-the-face trick. The Mac release runs on PowerPC and Intel chips and is available now. Both versions have a monthly rate of $9.95 and can be downloaded from the Toontown site. A free, three-day trial is also available.

Good to see the big hitters land on the Mac.
... Come on. TOONTOWN? Is there really any demand for this game at all? Why bother?

Not that I play it, but just because you dont like it, does not mean its not profitable. It seems like a perfect Mac game to me. It's just at the right level for most Mac users.

Ok, laugh all you want but Toontown rocks. I bought the subscription for my 3rd grade son but when he asked me for help I was hooked. You will find that mostly adults play Toontown and it is actually very addictive and challenging. However, just to put it all in perspective the only other online game I have ever been “addicted” to was The Sims Online. Wow… I swear I am not as pathetic as I sound! hehe

To Omega2K3:
There are two kinds of software on a computer. You have your system software and your application software. System software (OS, drivers, etc.) makes up the essential part of the system -- the bridge between hardware and applications -- that allows application software to work.
Games are application software. The main task they help users accomplish is that of entertainment.
Look down in this Wikipedia entry a bit. You'll see games prominently listed amongst the other types of application software:
