One hardcore gamer to rule them all
Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the most hardcore gamer of them all? This guy with a slight fetish for Nintendo. Just listen to these choice quotes during his wait in line to get a Wii:
- When asked why he hasn't slept in five days, camper replies: "Sleep is babies, gamers play all night."
- When asked if he waited in line to buy a PS3: "Heeelllll no!!!!"
- When asked how much Sony would have to drop the PS3 price before he would consider buying one: "At least $400, at least."
[Thanks, Pedro]

Was this post really needed? I feel kind of bad for the guy, no need to make fun of him anymore.
burn @ Nov 29th 2006 8:24PM
dude.. that guy needs his own show. 8 hours of him a day on g4tv would be exponentially more entertaining then the crap they've replaced their game/tech format with
silkylove @ Nov 29th 2006 8:25PM
Dude obviously has some mental issues. You can tell from his speech. I don't see teh funnay.
oz0ne @ Nov 29th 2006 8:30PM
w/e "mental issues" who cares? I think this guy is awesome. He's so hardcore. I second #2, G4TV should give him his own show.
Kanadwen @ Nov 29th 2006 8:31PM
Man, poor guy, leave him alone! You tend to act like that if you're up for five days, and who knows, he could of been sippin' on Grandpa's old cough medicine five minutes before the interview to stay awake! Just leave him alone! Big meanies! :(
Avinash_Tyagi @ Nov 29th 2006 8:35PM
Actually he's probably just sleep deprived
Morgan @ Nov 29th 2006 8:42PM
"Was this post really needed?"
HELL YEA!
artist-illustrator @ Nov 29th 2006 8:46PM
I heard that he froze himself for 3 weeks before the release because he couldn't stand the wait! so hardcore!!!
1up_clock @ Nov 29th 2006 8:50PM
"Sleep is babies, gamers play all night."
The sad thing is, I kinda' agree with that.
jon @ Nov 29th 2006 8:50PM
I agree with post #2, this guy needs his own TV show. He could host it live every night in front of a Best Buy with a sleeping bag over his head. They'd call it "Sleep is for Babies: 'Nuthin but straight talk from a true hardcore gamer."
Joe @ Nov 29th 2006 8:53PM
This guy rules. he's the ultimate gamer. He should get his own segment (if not show) on G4, or he should make a Youtube show.
Sneak @ Nov 29th 2006 9:01PM
Heeeelll No! LOL...thats gold Jerry....GOLD!
Hemisphere @ Nov 29th 2006 9:01PM
Doubt he has mental issues, he sounds like he's on speed, and judging by his claims of being up for 5 days, I think it's very likely.
Peter @ Nov 29th 2006 9:06PM
Wouldn't somebody so "hardcore" know that Sonic wasn't a launch title?
MrJeykel @ Nov 29th 2006 9:23PM
If any kids read this, take note of who you will turn out to be IF you don't stop playing video games long enough to get LAID!!
Poor, poor man...

If this guy got a show on G4, I'd start watching that channel again. That would be the coolest thing ever!
Crosswayboy @ Nov 29th 2006 9:28PM
"G4TV should give him his own show."
"He should get his own segment (if not show) on G4, or he should make a Youtube show."
Uhh... This video is from GameTrailers, (e.g. GT) not G4.
Kevin @ Nov 29th 2006 9:30PM
Gotta give him respect. He loves his video games.

That man is my hero, and #19 they didn't say it was on G4 they are saying that he SHOULD be, and have his own show on it.
Pince @ Nov 29th 2006 9:47PM
My guess is that the guy is either a drug addict (has been suggested) or that he was just playing around for the camera.
From the way he said "Hell no" and from the way his friends were laughing, I got the feeling that he was just hamming it up a bit.
Maybe he hadnt slept in a while and maybe he's just a weird guy a lot of the time, but I don't think he was being really serious/honest (5 days? really?).
TheH2s @ Nov 29th 2006 9:49PM
I gotta get a shirt that says "Helllllll no!".
That guy, FTW!
jjromz03 @ Nov 29th 2006 9:50PM
You have to admit his persistence to get something is out of this world. In this case a Wii, but I'm sure we'll react the same if it was for a PS3... Or anything for that matter.
Then again, anything in excess is bad. Somebody should tell him that although sleep is for babies, it would be much better if he could grab enough sleep and still play games. That would be a much better alternative.
davarino @ Nov 29th 2006 9:53PM
whowever said this guy was mentally challenged just because he has a lisp, obviously has no clue.
this guy is the perfect stereotype of a "gamer nerd".
but i give him much respect for it.
now all ladies will be like "omg its the youtube guy". and he will be gettin lucky tonight
Ugh. @ Nov 29th 2006 9:54PM
Flippin' Hilarious.
Kevin @ Nov 29th 2006 9:58PM
About the comments about him being on G4 with his own show:
They could have their own version of "What grinds my gears".
John @ Nov 29th 2006 10:07PM
How does that guy get the money to buy systems anyways?
Animus @ Nov 29th 2006 10:11PM
This guy should have a show on G4 starting 2:00 am and ending 7:00 am because sleep is for babies.
Judd @ Nov 29th 2006 10:12PM
I do think that this guy might have some mental problems. Although he said he hasn't slept in five days, he said that he only got on line a couple of hours before. Why would he just be up for five days if he didn't get in line until that day? I can understand having a hard time relaxing before the launch of a system, but not sleeping for five days?
I recently pulled an all nighter and after about 30 hours you start to get a little dillusional. Either he has problems because he believes he's been up for five days, or if he actually was up that long, he'd have developed mental problems. Like Peter said, he thought Sonic was a launch title.
Anyone who wants to play a Sonic game must have mental problems.
shivr @ Nov 29th 2006 10:14PM
surprisingly less fanboyish than some of the posters here... He actually encourages people to do what they want instead of encouraging people to buy the system HE likes, says he intends on purchasing all 3 systems in the future, refers to wii as a decent system (not omg best ever), "every system has a downside"...
kinda pretty crazy but you know..
Hoover @ Nov 29th 2006 10:14PM
I guess work is for babieth as well. Because this gentlemen is clearly not burdened by gainful employment.
Wii the People @ Nov 29th 2006 10:26PM
You guys are all taking this out of context. He said "Sleep is babies" not "Sleep is FOR babies".
The differences in these two apparently similar sentences is staggering to say the least and if I had the contextualizing finesse of one Vlad Cole I would no doubt be up until the wee hours of the morning composing a fitting thesis and subsequent explanantion, however, there's Zelda to be played.
Wolfrider @ Nov 29th 2006 10:29PM
He wasn't awake for five days straight. He may have gotten very little sleep in five days, but after 3 you'd be barely coherent and 72 hours later you'd end up in an emergency room. Sleep deprivation WILL kill you.
It does seem obvious that this guy is a little down on his luck and in need of some psychiatric help (either that or he's playing us). I'm not sure who to be more disgusted with though; Joystiq for posting it, or G4 for putting the interview up.
ChrisL @ Nov 29th 2006 10:30PM
PS3 fanboys eat your hearts out. If this guy isn't a 'hardcore gamer' I dunno who is, and he's all about the Wii!
Mark @ Nov 29th 2006 10:30PM
Jeezus, that guy tells it like it is.
"Everything has downsides."
Why can't there be more people like this? He's not a fanboy, he gives every system a chance! Amazing!
WamBam @ Nov 29th 2006 10:38PM
Whether or no he has any "mental problems" or is just sleep deprived, he's awesome. Let's get this guy a show on G4 or at least a decent vblog.
Judd @ Nov 29th 2006 10:38PM
I laughed a lot while watching that. I agree that if he's like this all the time that he could make a ton of money having his own show. I just want to throw out the option of him saying Sonic thinking of the VC game? Just a thought.
Lee @ Nov 29th 2006 10:39PM
No, this guy has no mental problems whatsoever. He even said towards the very first of the video that staying "hopped up on Demorall and grape soda" has helped him get through the wait.
Drug crazed, sleep deprived, from-this-point-forward rad Wii fanboys FTW.
lukii @ Nov 29th 2006 10:42PM
Forget his own show, this guy needs to be in a game!
Shagi @ Nov 29th 2006 10:46PM
Just another typical Nintendo fanboy.
cheese @ Nov 29th 2006 10:47PM
The guy has seriously flawed(if not entirely lacking)logic. So he'll wait 5 days for a Wii, but spending $500-600 is beyond the pale? Heh, whatever.
Titus Miles @ Nov 29th 2006 10:54PM
this guy is halairious, just laugh.
ChrisL @ Nov 29th 2006 10:59PM
"13. Doubt he has mental issues, he sounds like he's on speed, and judging by his claims of being up for 5 days, I think it's very likely."
He would be way skinnier.
boner @ Nov 29th 2006 11:00PM
I dont think hes mentally challenged... I think he's autistic... i know an autistic guy that has this guys same speech pattern. Listen to the tone of his voice and where it it fluxuates.. if you listen carefully it has a pattern of 3/4 the way through each sentence one word gets accented, and louder... i think thats an autistic thing....
hes probably got super powers or something...
i want one of those t-shirts!!
Nathan M @ Nov 29th 2006 11:41PM
Wait... how the fuck do you get hoped up on DEMEROL? Demerol is a sedative/painkiller isn't it? Demerol would turn him into a sleepy nut that would try to hug everything and then fall asleep. Also, I don't think he has mental issues. A lisp doesn't indicate serious mental problems, just a speech impediment. I know at least 5 people with lisps that are perfectly normal in the head. Oh, and yes, 24 hours of this guy on G4 would be awesome. :D

Watch the video from 2:40 to 2:45 when our hero points to his friends... Are those tracks from needles going down his arms?!?!?! They sure don't look like birth marks! Autistic? - I don't think so...I think I see the "fuel" that kept this space cadet up for five days!
