That's pretty slick. If I had known this was in the makes earlier, I wouldn't have already updated.

Awesome. I've been running emulated 2.71 for a while and had to avoid purchasing Vice City Stories. Now I can buy it and run it on my 1.50. Sick.

That's right, people who emulate firmware and hack their PSPs still buy games - don't let Sony tell you otherwise.

Hehe, It was a fairly difficult install tho. Took about 20 steps and 15 minutes to complete. Luckily there was no chance of bricking anything. It was all worth it to play Yu Gi Oh without load times... Too bad the english version doesn't play voices during cutscenes ; ; I hear there is a way to get the japanese version with english text tho..

Anyways that is off topic... Devhook .50 is greato!

And Dwells55, Devhook emulation has got me to buy Field Commander, Killzone, Yu Gi Oh, Tiger Woods, and Lumines II. Games I would have never have purchased without getting my hands on them first (Well not Lumines 2... haha I NEEEDED Lumines 2)

Enough with this homebrew bullshit. The vast majority of PSP "homebrewers" are just using Devhook to play pirate games.

Which is why the PS3 solution is so neat. The pirates and the homebrewers can be separated into two camps because the OS supports Linux and other operating systems but still keeps its copy protection. I wish Sony would do something similar on the PSP - let me run Linux from a memory stick and the shit all over the sites that produce or promote the piracy tools.

@6 If you bothered to visit the sites where Devhook is promoted you would realise it is not crap at all. The thing is a piracy tool first and foremost. "Homebrew" is just a convenient cover by many people who have no intention at all in using the PSP to run homebrew, only to run cracked games.

OK, a good part of those running 1.5/2.71SE do so to run isos, but those are generally teenagers who cant afford to pay 60$/60€ for every new thing out. I can't afford games for my PSP, so I'm stuck playing emus. Besides, ISO loading is a good way to play-test games.

What's it to you if people pirate anyway. Sony for one certainly didn't mind when they wiped out competition by encouraging it behind closed doors for the ps1 and even 2 because they made more money. They made more than lost as they sold more consoles so made a lot more money from the sale of these than they lost on in house developed games. The only people stung were 3rd party developers.

I personally know a few sony employees, some in low managerial roles and they are idiots. They have this mentality and certainly do believe the whole sony propaganda. Sony feed the market masses and their general clueless staff (high up and PR/spin people know otherwise and admit this in closed discussion) such rubbish and people swallow it. Piracy killing the market hahahahahahaha use your brain FFS. I am not anti corp, I even like good proprietry formats (and MEPIS linux too which most people of my user level hate) but sony don't provide good service for money like decent business, they are a dollarwhore and will sell anyone out for money and will screw customers over for a quick buck.

I hate these emulators, it screws the paying customers out there. Take this for example. Sony has this lame copy protection on music, why? Because people pirate, and they try to discourage it. Not saying that there isn't a way around this, it's just that the majority of people out there screw the rest of us who actually pay for games. And yes it does hurt Sony Entertainment, because if you think about it, if their sales go down, don't you think they will abandon the PSP? That is how it works, once sales plumit, companies work on something new, and you are just jewing the rest of us who buy games legally, and in the end, Sony isn't going to put up with losing money and they will scrap the PSP, and screw us, the people who pay for crap.
