#41 "I sense a hint of racism in here simply because India hasn't taken up 360, just like the Japanese didn't :(

Why is it 360 fanboys dish out all the sly and racist comments when they realise a country isn't buying thier console, thats hardly fair.

When 360 was announced to not be selling well a year ago at gamespot, all the 360 fans came rushing in slagging of Japan and Japanese ppl, thenwhen Africa was reported to start having 360s imported, some said they are too poor to afford 360s. I really despise you fanboys, you let a machine get ahead of your respect for other cultures and races, I don't much appreciate that, and I agree with the reviewer, what is it worth picking up a so called Xbox 1.5 if the only things talked about are fps games, hd and live, they might as well stick with thier PS2s. Yeah PS3 will have that problem, but this article isn't about PS3 is it, its about 360, stop trying to shove PS3 infront,t ahts just childish."

Japan overall do not buy alot of American electronic brands because they want to stick to their own brands. It's just the way it is when their loyalty occasionaly comes off as xenophobic-like, kind of like with people in America that only stick to American-brand cars. Stop reading into it, because I know you want to go there.

"....they are too poor to afford 360s."

360 + Live + broadband + games...no matter your race, that's pretty expensive in Africa, regardless if it's South Africa. So again, it's true, and that's just the way it is.

"Yeah PS3 will have that problem, but this article isn't about PS3 is it, its about 360, stop trying to shove PS3 infront,t ahts just childish."

Yeah, I agree with you there.

"Remove what must be considered Xbox 360's two strongest selling points (HD gaming and Xbox Live) and really, what is the difference between Microsoft's console and PS2?"

With ports? Not much, but I game on an SDTV, and I have to say that those who don't notice a graphical difference (as far as first-party titles go) are blind. No Xbox Live sucks for India, but Gears of War would look good on a B & W TV. :P

For all those Microsoft asswipes, out there.

I am an Indian Gamer and beleive me, people can afford to buy a fucking 360. Well, most of my friends have a iPod 80, PSP, Sony Bravias and a PS2 and we do know that PS2 has a lot of life in it, most Indians buy original games. And mostly the gaming scene is Dominated by PC, PS2, PS1, SNES (beleive me!!).

Nvidia's 8800 sold like hot cakes here and a full gaming rig costs around Rs.45,000 ~ USD1000. And for those who keep yapping that India is behind in Technology know that Nokia releases their products here even before releasing in the U.S. Why the fuck do you think 360 was launched in India.

Know that Hotmail was made by an Indian and VoodooPC was also started by an Indian.

In all honesty, and without any fan boy bias, we'll probably see a similar review of the PS3 coming out of India.

Seriously, take away the online features of the Wii, 360 and PS3 (and the HD features of the latter two systems) and the 7th Generation experience becomes a lot less interesting.

It would probably also be useful/interesting to note that just yesterday MS announced a new deal for the 360 in India, allowing folks to walk home with the console for 899 INR. Which is about $20.00. Sure they still have to pay the rest via credit, but it's a very interesting move...

I'd also say that amongst folks in the market for 360's here in India, most of those people DO have HD capable equipment.

:S Does it matter if the PS3 isn't selling, if the PSP and the PS2 does well there, thats enough, 360 is about as usful as a pig on a stick over there without live connection and HD, which are two of the 3 things 360 gamers repeat themselves about, as for gaming, well, what can I say? DOA? Blast PS2 out of the water? Yeah right, DOA is just pr0n, you can get that on PC if you look hard enough, why would we need it for our consoles, besides, with the PSP and PS3 able to go online and put pr0n on your hardrive, why less would we need DOA? Lol, Ninja Gaiden and Halo were about the best examples original Xbox had to proove its power over PS2, and although 360 has some good games, they lack depth which I why I am not interested in them, I like a game with a reason as to why I am playing, thus the reason I'd rather stick to PS2 and pick up 4 PS2 games for half the price of 4 360 games, plus I wouldn't be playing the same thing, one man army routine where the main character saves the world, meh, boring..

I know a lot of people from India that are hardcore console gamers, with HDTV's and waiting for the Ps3 and Wii, and already have an X360 as Microsoft has officialy launched the product over the there, and they also regularly surf sites like Joystiq.

Boy they're not gonna' be pleased.

You guys have any idea what is going on here in India??
M$ launched the xbox premium at Rs.27500. Now i will convert it for you. Thats freakin US$610. OK still i am one who can afford it as a long term investment for gaming. Then i go out to buy games. I have over 2000 titles to select from at store for PS2, and how many Xbox titles?? just 3-4. And one of them is cheesy tennis. Go figure.
Some guy above talked about how good COD2 looked on SDTV. Well how the hell we will know?? i know how it looks on my PC with X1900XT but where can i buy games that will make me feel the xbox effect??
Microsoft launched console but where are the damn games??

I'm an American living in Chennai. Chennai's formerly called Madras. It's the biggest city in South India, which includes Bangalore and Hyderabad. Those two cities are the ones you call when you call tech support. nVidia does almost all its research there. Google does a ton of it there too. Chennai, not a complete slouch, it is the home of Red Octane, which makes Guitar Hero. And by 2007 every Dell laptop and desktop will be built here in Chennai. My job puts me in contact with the biggest tech firms of the region.

While the article is clueless, don't blame it on Indians. First off, many, many people down here have broadband. So XBox Live is not an issue. Also, the biggest ads in the paper for Diwali (like Hindu Christmas -- or Halloween, according to The Office) were for HD sets. The cluelessness of that article has nothing to do with India, just of that guy. I've seen demo consoles a lot in the last couple of months since the 360 launched here, and somebody's always playing them. Simply put, console gaming isn't all that big here. While admittedly you don't find a lot of software stores, the stores mainly have PC games, not consoles.

I'd be playing my 360, but the latest update (over XBox Live, no less) killed it. Mine's now between here and Texas, waiting for a repair/replacement.

Saying the you cant tell the difference between a ps2 and a 360 just because its on a SDTV is like say you cant tell the difference between an Honda accord and a Ferrari Enzo Ferrari just because you have to drive them on public streets.

Good to know the technological stupidity that is the India people is greater than I thought. Saying the PS2 is equal to the 360 is like saying the NES is equal to the PS2. In fact, since this country is still in the dark ages, they should remake the NES for this region and keep their upgrading to a minimum.

"This is a perfectly valid argument, not all countries have adopted HDTV yet. Both 360 and PS3 look marginally better on a SDTV."

That's funny. While 360's look like crap on most cheap SDTV's, if I runt through my 27" CRT flat via component, it looks really good. Sure, the HDTV looks better, but not as much better from a low-quality, non-component SDTV.

Xbox 360's are for gamers...not-so-much for the occasional gamer-player. After playing a 360 for a little over a year now, going back to PS2 is annoying as hell. Not just for graphics, but the lack of a guide, streaming music/custom soundtracks, no achievements, crap online support, horrible controller....

But to someone who doesn't care about all of that, the PS3 and 360's offerings aren't going to matter much.

Xbox 360 is way better than the PS2 but the PS3 is better than all of them, well maybe not the Wii. Got to love the classics!
