Pimps at Sea players spotted on Xbox Live [update 1]

Several Microsoft employees have been spotted on Xbox Live playing Pimps at Sea (Alpha). When questioned, the players slyly replied, "What's a pimp?"

The obvious explanation is that Halo 3 multiplayer testing has begun, under Bungie's oft-used moniker. In fact, 1UP is "totally 100%" sure of it. As for Joystiq, we're a reserved 99.9% sure -- still holding onto some tiny inkling of hope that Pimps at Sea is indeed Bungie's long-rumored Xbox Live Arcade game.

I didn't actually recall that it was Bungie at the time, but not that long ago, a game development company announced their new game "Pimps at Sea". There was a video with interviews with the team about the game, etc etc. It was rather elaborate, given that the announcement came out April 1.

So, does that mean it's time for every magazine and website to start talking about Halo incessantly for the next two years until the game actually comes out. *sigh* Time to leave the Internets.

The chances that "Pimps at Sea" is a different project is actually very high. Bungie has made repeated outright denial that Pimps at Sea and Halo 3 are related.

Of course, outright denial doesn't mean much in this biz, so scratch that.

The protagonist is called "pimp-master chief" (say like funk master flex)

I personally think Pimps at Sea sounds more fun. Halo has always been a good(but not OMfG!Good) FPS. Its strange that it was THE FPS that console gamers finally picked up on. Played both 1 and 2, but multiplayer always felt off to me. Never quite understood the draw...I think for me its the unsatisfying weapons and the 'Virtua Fighter' floaty jumping, lol. 3 is looking good, but it SHOULD. Its MF'ing 360! I was expecting more. Look at Gears...

Pimps at Sea is one game that would make me break my 'no console over $300' rule.
