Alex, the point is that the Wavebird is a Gamecube controller, and this is a Wii system. To ask for Wii features in a Gamecube controller is like asking for menu selection using a NES controller. Even if it had the ports, it's a controller from an 1985 system, and shouldn't even be assumed to work for a 2006 Nintendo system. As I said, those functions come packed in the box the second you fire up the remote. Wavebird? What?

For the record, I love using the Wavebird for all classic games. At the same time, I love the fact that I can use the remote to pay Sonic. Awesome indeed. I hope we see some more impressive games tomorrow, though. Still don't get why Japan get's 99 VC titles and we get 30ish.

Fanboys need to cool down.

The fact is, the Wii has gamecube controller ports. Why you can't control the Wii using a controller that is hooked up to one of the ports is the point.

I did not know that? You'd expect that to happen since they actually do have the ports built into the system.

Freaking fanboys stop complaining. These are called "annoyances" not "The Wii is the worst Console ever, PS3 FTW!!!!1! #6" This is simply annoying, but like many many products, you accept the minor annoyances in order to get to the best part. If joystiq had simply made an article like "The Wii is Super Fun" that would have just been stupid. And even if they don't like the Wii, their not insulting you, or anyone related to you, their simply listing an annoyance about a consumer product, so maybe someone will fix it.

Why would they make the main interface of their new system controllable with a Cube controller when the whole system is designed around the new controller?

Why would you want to use a more akward control system on a interface *designed* for the Wiimote?

True, I find it ironic that the site with arguably the *worst* commenting system is so busy nitpicking the Wii interface.

Why don't you fix your own interface first? The lack of a login/password is retarded and the star system is useless.

an annoyance is an annoyance...not a deal-breaker like someone else mentioned earlier...

I'm with shadow. That F'ing sucks that once wii enters "gc mode" that it won't coordinate with the wiimotes anymore, and the system has to be reset to get back to wii mode.

BTW, if you take the disk out and hit reset, it goes back to Wii menu.

I also find if very annoying that the classic controller can't control GC games. I know, analog shoulder buttons, but nobody uses the analog shoulder buttons for anything. (There are like 3 games that do, and 2 of them have the word Rogue and Squadron in their title).

Wii should have VC controller for GC games, and GC mem card emulation on the 512 flash memory. Also the remote should be able to take it out of GC mode. If those things could be fixed (maybe they can) the console would be perfect.
