no kid is just going to be down right "bad". a kid could be a klepto, but there's aggression involved. i say that there is bad parenting, a broken home, or other issues within the family.

Good job, using tax payer's money to discipline your kid because YOU SUCK AS A PARENT.

She should have just beat the $hit out of him. Thats what he deserves. No wonder black folks are always busting on white people. Maybe if she would whoop the kids ass he'd learn to act right.

algernon, not once did I mention that I thought the mother was good in any way. The kid is messed up, but it doesn't mean that the kid is his mother's tool, like you belive

You know, i was thinking about commenting and saying that despite the fact that the kid's obviously rotten as hell, the fact that the mom isn't actually carrying out the punishment on the kid herself and that calling the cops is a bit overkill, i really don't care. Frankly, the kid has issues, and it would be ideal that the parent(s) in a child-parent relationship to actually deal with the kid properly and drive in sense of integrity into the kid, but considering how a lot of people nowadays (or for that matter, for the past 4 decades, and i'm not just talking about America, either) don't really know how to raise children, that its really inevitable for things like this to happen. I really don't know who to pity more: the kid, the mom, the authorities, or taxpayers.

Calling the police for your own child stealing his Christmas present is completely asinine. Maybe if you weren't a dumbass, you'd realize your child who steals is probably going to open his present early since he figures he can just take what he wants. How about you just keep the presents hidden until Christmas eve/day? Oh wait, I guess there's just too few hiding spots in a single wide trailer. My bad.

Calling the cops is too far, she should just throwq him in the car and drive him to Juvie.. Juvie was made for kids like this, but the police weren't.

The kid needs spanked. I think there is a difference between child abuse and corporal punishment. Even more though, kids needto be brought up properly from the beginning, filled with good morals, taught how to act, taught what is right and wrong. If the kid had so many prior problems, she obviously dropped the ball in the beginning.

On a complete side note, using a random picture of a kid in handcuffs (which I'm assuming is random, since I didn't see it anywhere else) to illustrate the story isn't exactly the height of ethical journalism.

How is a 27 year old mother supposed to discipline a child who tried to punch a cop. COPS CARRY GUNS. THe poor woman is probably scared of her own child. Think about this people. Until you are a 27 year old single mother to a child with a behavioral problem please don't pretend like you know what to do. Sure the lady probably wasn't the best mother, but were your parents perfect? I HIGHLY doubt it, and it seems like you came out okay
