When the PS3 launches in Australia, will it be too late? There were concerns that it would be too expensive and too late, following well after the 360 and the Wii (which launches Wednesday at midnight). Sony casually brushed such arrows away with its Cloak of Indomitable Ego +3, a pretty powerful accessory indeed. Nic Foster, GM for Sony Australia and New Zealand, or SCEA&NZ (not really), said this about the competition... well, the Wii: "The Wii-type functionality is more just a sub-element of what the PlayStation 3 offers...Wii is a core gaming device. It's a more fun, intuitive sort of product to pick up, where the PS3 is a broader entertainment solution; so you can have your fun, enjoyable gaming ... but then you have a whole suite of other applications ... such as Blu-ray media playback, the ability to access your music, access your photos and the interoperability with the PlayStation Portable." He also said that gamers know what they want and they'll probably end up with both a Wii and a PS3.
So, what'll the system retail for? I feel bad for you Aussie's (is that appropriate?)... you'll be put back either $829 or $999 -- the Wii is "only" $400. The 360 is $650. That's rough. Any readers from Australia? What's your take on this? Will you get both the Wii and the PS3, or will you get one or the other? None of the above is also an option. You may begin.
