According to GAF, Famistu is reporting that Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection will be offered as a downloadable PlayStation 3 title. The PS3 version will be an arcade port (Dark Resurrection was also released on PSP) with new content, including a playable Jinpachi. The game will also be enhanced for high definition displays.Release date and cost have not yet been disclosed, though Dark Resurrection will almost certainly exceed Xbox Live Arcade's current peak price ($15). Still, Tekken 5 has a bit more to offer than the likes of Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat 3, no? Should Microsoft be concerned?

That would require them to release a larger HDD, but it's about damned time I say. They'll have to do it to support the TV/movie XBLM thing anyway.
There's really not much compelling on XBLA these days. Geometry Wars, Small Arms, a couple other games here and there. Way too many crappy ports of old games that cost too much. Give us original content dammit.

1) You cannot trade downloaded games you do not like for returned credit or credit towards other games. You also cannot trade them with friends or transport them from location to location (unless you're going to move the entire system).
2) Physical media provides a better format for long-term access. (I.e. unless your shelf space becomes full and you're a neat freak, you'll always have it available worry and download-free.)
3) With the downloaded material of the Xbox 360 and PS3, do you really think they're going to give you credit towards Tekken 5 (or any other game) on their successors? Physical media provides an easier method of backwards compatibility and, as such, less wasted money when systems rotate out of fashion.
I could go on, as you might imagine. If the only reasoning you have is that "it makes no sense to leave my house," I suggest you familiarize yourself with online retailers (and consider more than just that single point).

On another note: what happened to the whole BD is necessary for video game crap?
I don't want to download 20 something gigs for days...
Although downloading games does support my suggestion that Sony releases a version of the PS3 WITHOUT the Blu-Ray player. Just like the released the PS2 without the HDD slot. I would definitely buy a PS3 if it came without a BD. Two reasons: 1) price will drop by $300, at least. 2) I am not forced to pay for another proprietary format by Sony.

If Blu-Ray is needed to deliver "next-gen" games, then how on earth can these same games be downloaded?
Please, someone explain why the discs have to be 25-50 gb, yet in the same breath we can download full fledged titles? Smells like more Sony bullshit to me.

I have a feeling that Sony wants a stable fighting game for the PS3 in order to satiate fighting fans waiting for the next installment of the Tekken series. For me downloading is OK, but, some prefer a physical medium to have games.

I'm calling BS on this one. Besides, DOA4 isn't even a fighting game, so says the fighting game community and Itagaki himself. its more like rock paper scissors with boobs.

Physical media has a permanence that dowloads lack. Let's say you've got a half-dozen games on your PS3 and it breaks. Oop! I'm willing to bet Sony's not going to just GIVE you those games again for free.
If I'm paying a lot of money for a game, I was something more tangible than just harddrive space.

Haha, we all wish! If it does come out here, it will not be online. Namco loves to shaft the USA.

No, because Tekken is a piece of shit.
Concerned about Virtua Fighter 5? Hell yeah. But Tekken? Are you kidding me?

Have made themselves the biggest retards of all time.
Tekken has been around since before DOA, and being only under-parred to Virtual Fighter for the Saturn. Virtual fighter sucked nasty too for that saturn which I owned ( For those times, Killer instinct ftw Arcade and consel. ) and I'm pretty sure The people saying shit about tekken where the xbox owners stuck to their virtual fighter- too much pride to get a ps2.
As for the Blu-ray discs and downloadable Media and games. ACCEPT THE FUTURE. You're gonna end up like your parents- " Whas dis nintendo 50, I can't cope with it because you download all the games and use your brain to do it instead of a controller or physical hardware to grip, It's Madness!" Stfu and stop being such a hippie.

The fighting game argument...so funny. I wasn't a Tekken fan for a very long time. Mainly because I could take a quick glance and see how unbalanced it was. DR is a vast improvement, and it's enjoyable. I still won't pick it over Virtua Fighter (unless of course it's VF3...ugh), but it's a solid series, and 10 years of incarnations should tell you something.
Online or not, DOA *is* rock paper scissors. DOA has one of the most technical fighting engines, probably only second to VF, but it goes to waste with that counter system. It's still entirely to easy to spaz your way through things. But whatever, this isn't a fighting game discussion.
Downloading media as a regular thing? Won't catch on like that right now. Think about services like itunes and all that stuff. In spite of being able to download whole albums, and the mass popularity of ipods, people STILL buy tangible records.
What would be awesome, is if you could download the game to an external HD, and then burn the image to a DVD/BD. Cooler still would be the ability for the PS3 to play said media once it's burned. It's a legit backup.

The big labels are saying that CDs are a thing of the past. Downloading is taking over the industry - in spite of some people (myself included) still buying music on CDs (mostly at Tower records during their GOING OUT OF BUSINESS sale).
Downloadable games are fantastic. Less time with the nerds at the game stores explaining the finer details of some game engine and more time trying out a demo I just downloaded to figure if I even want to buy the game in the first place.
Funny how people get so attached to some media that is easily scratched. I had my disk player replaced twice on my PS2 and remember having my PS1 upside down in its last days. I would love everything to run off my HD - that would be prime.
