John Lennon + Halo 3 ad = instant karma
59
Following hot on the heels of the Gears of War remix phenomenon comes a stellar entry in new Halo 3 "Starry Night" remix/mashup arena. It's surprising how well John Lennon's "Instant Karma" works with this ad, and it just plain trumps the Halo music, sorry Marty. Please don't go all Yoko on our ass.
[Thanks, Eric]

what the hell?
anyways...
are considered to represent war...now I do believe Lennon would be greatly against it, it's still a nice tribute to him, and it does fit.(I hate Halo anyways)
God bless Lennon.

I love John Lennon, but this remix of the commercial isn't that great. There were only two timed spots, when the song started, and when it ended. Still, it's John Lennon.

After seeing this post, I went ahead and added a song of my choice to the video. John Lennon is a good artist...But I feel the song that was added does not really fit the trailer. Here are the ones I edited. I made 2 versions.

Oh Eric what have you done.
As it turns out, anyone who gives joystiq a reason to post anything just ends up being an unintentional flame baiter...because that is all you seem to get around here anymore. But I admire your bravery in bringing this before the illogically harsh joystiq populace. Combine that with the fact that 50% of people in general can't talk about their music tastes without sounding arrogant, patronizing, or elitist (and I really don't think I am exaggerating); you walk dangerous ground.
As for the video, it synched up real well with the song I thought, but, as many have said before, it doesn't really fit content-wise, unless you were going for the irony.

Most of you are confusing (or at least over-attaching) the myth of the man (J.L.) with the word-by-word playback of the song. Melodic and suprisingly intense; you cant deny that it makes a good commercial. At any rate, instant karma is not anti-war. It's simply being rewarded or punished according to your deeds; perhaps being too curious even? Bringing upon oneself invetible results.
Air that during the new season of "24" or even something as absurd as "next top model" and you've got yourself several K 360's off the shelf.
I suppose we'll never know. Still, fifty-odd posts of heart-felt anger and pleasantry for a draped MP3 don't seem wrong to me. It tickles my spine to watch that thing over and over agian.
Shine on, Eric.

crono,
The Beatles were great because there has never been art that reflected society as well as they did in the 60s. They embodied the change of America through the decade, beginning with their early pop-iness to their antiwar and psychadelia in the late 60s. They were basically the symbols of a generation, and on top of it, they made AMAZINGLY good rock and roll music.
How the hell do you not worship The Beatles?
