This is how microtransactions should work. With the ability to pay any dollar amount (no prepaid points), and microtransactions that actually make sense (unlike Lumines Live), you have to admit that Sony's been making good moves, at least in this department. Now... when the heck are my downloads going to move at something more than a snail's pace?

These are the games you get when your install base is less than 500k worldwide.

Who wants to play Sudoku on a TV. This feels like they had nothing better to give PS3 owners so they just gave them something.

RE #4 "Who wants to play Sudoku on a TV."

My Girlfriend.

I downloaded the Starter pack just to see what she thought of it, and now she wants the other packs.

Even though there is not lot on the Sony store, if they keep the prices like this, then I can se where they will make their money back on the PS3. I have bought Crash Bandicoot for my PSp already, and my wife loves Lemmings. Note to MS: abandon the points thing and go to real world money.

Yes, this is why people spent between $600 and $6000 on a games console, to play a game almost as old as I am and Sudoku!

I think Sony owns MS and Nintendo stock, I really do.

Funny use of "sporadic" in the article. Sony has a good bit of content here and with much bigger games like Tekken 5 on the way I'm pretty happy w/ the online content so far. I got Hot Shots Golf 2 on my PSP and the free version of Sudoku, as well as the excellent looking bluray trailers of Underworld 2 and Blackhawk Down. I'm looking forward more to the original ps3 specific downloads though, although the classics on psp are really nicely suited to the handheld.

Lemmings FTW. I've been playing this a lot lately and, most likely thanks solely to the lack of player base, I am sitting on the top times for the Mayhem levels. Lemmings has always been fun, but competing to shave hundredths of a second off to get a better position is a nice add.

Sudoku is fun, and works well with a couple animated guests ( standing next to the TV pointing out the next few numbers faster than I can put them in), though it feels rushed. A curious "multiplayer" mode requires someone to start a room and wait until someone anonymously joins, or a friend meets up with you. For whatever reason you can't play with two people on the same console, which makes sh*t for sense, and so I have yet to try it yet. The actual number of levels for sudoku is at 1000 i believe, with 500+ for mild, 300+ for medium and then two more difficulty levels filling the remainder

Sudoku is great. I remember there was a phase at work where 3 people play Sudoku ALL DAY and the rest of us complain... then we got addicted to it! At least the rest of us didnt play during work... Its a great numbers game and Lemmings is always good times :)

I just downloaded Crash Bandicoot but I forgot to check how much free space I had on my old 512 card. Needless to say I was ONE MB short of being able to downloading it to my PSP. Even if I got rid of everything on my card it still wouldn't fit. So be warned if you own a 512 stick don't try to download Crash. My question is how many different PSP's can you put one of the downloaded games on?

Finally! I've been waiting for the day I could play soduku on my TV instead of paying 99 cents for 1000+ puzzles in outdated print! But seriously, kudos to Sony for no price gouging (so far).

Lemmings on PS3 is great! The gameplay is somewhat like the first Lemmings game, but with a few new gameplay twists. All of the levels are completely new, and there are even online scoreboards where you can see how you compare to other players. Like MENO said, it's fun to try to improve your best times.

I had only paid $2.99 to download it. I expected to pay $5.99 (as IGN originally reported), and it is surely be worth that price anyway, but at $2.99 it is one of the greatest gaming bargains of the year. Anyone with an online-enabled PS3 really ought to try it!

I haven't tried Go! Sudoku yet, but I'll probably give that a whirl as well.

The low prices for these downloadable games (compared to typical prices for downloadable games on other consoles' online services) makes these games much more attractive as impulse purchases. I hope to see more great deals like this in the future.

it really seems to be a HUGE waste of the PS3's might to be playing Sudoku. Unless it's implemented REAL well here, there are plenty of good free versions for PC or web-based.

@ #1
I suppose you could interprete that as M$ and Nin caring about our math skills. By forcing us to convert points for DL purchase, it keeps our arithmetic skills honed so our minds don't become even soggier. Heck, it's like a free Brain Age or Brain Training game sample with each transaction

On second thought, there isn't much else to do with a PS3 for the time being, so Sudoku may be an essential time killer for until other games and DLs are released

Well I look at sudoku on PS3 like i look at Uno for 360.

only difference is sudoku is free, heck for a time being Uno was all i played on 360 and i STILL know some people who to this day, the main games they play on their 360's are XBLA games.

But hey if ya got a system why not take advantage of every little thing. Uno hardly shows the 360's might, but its still fun

2.99 lemmings is awesome! There isn't a deal on the XBLA that beats this one. Also, Joystiq should've been on this when it happened, with the correct pricing...no less.

Anyone LUCKY enough to have a Playstation 3 should go right to the online store and download Lemmings. Even if you only play it once, its too good of a bargain to pass up.

Now if only I could get into Suduko...maybe I just don't have enough time in my day for two puzzle style games.

heh.... $600+ to play lightweight games like Sudoku. This is what's going to happen now that Blu-Ray is already sliding into obscurity.
