LocoRoco Christmas demo arrives [update 1]
Sony has posted a Christmas-themed downloadable level of LocoRoco on its Japanese website. The demo does not require players to own a retail copy of LocoRoco, but PSPs must be updated to firmware v3.02 to play. Here's the step-by-step install guide:- Download the EBOOT.PBP file
- Connect PSP to PC (via USB)
- Open the PSP/GAME folder
- Create a folder named "NPJG90001"
- Place EBOOT.PBP file in the folder
LocoRoco Halloween demo [requires firmware v2.81 or higher]
Update: corrected required firmware version.

When I started the demo, it told me that I needed to update to 3.02.

i tried a demo of that locoroco and it plain sucked!
i have 2.80 firmware now with homebrew via eloader and xloader and thats the ways i likes it
lol!

That seems quite complicated for your typical consumer...
Shouldn't you be able to use your 600 dollar PS3 to just send the demo to your PSP? Instead of this "NPJG90001" nonsense?
Kevin @ Dec 11th 2006 6:54PM
who cares anymore about a stupid game named locoroco. geez
Matthew @ Dec 11th 2006 3:21PM
Where's the locoroco love for PS3?
Sixaxis controller?
Motion sensing tiltage?

kiwi;
You're thinking of Microsoft. They're the consumer-friendly ones.

Now my PSP and the LocoRoco demo could just hate me, but when trying to load it up on firmware 3.01 it gave me a message saying I needed to update to 3.02 (even though the Japanese PSP site does in fact say 3.01 or greater).

This is why I never turn on my PSP. It has such amazing potential but you have to do shit like 'Create a folder named "NPJG90001" ' and download firmware updates every 17 minutes.
Its really not asking alot for shit to just work, especially when its $250.
thomas_h @ Dec 11th 2006 3:07PM
seriously, have'nt the PSP had like 25 firmware upgrades since it was released ?
John @ Dec 11th 2006 3:12PM
erm it works on 2.80 lmao!
well it works on mine
*confused*
Sam @ Dec 11th 2006 3:31PM
Wow, this demo was amazing. Anyone who liked LocoRoco needs to download this demo now.
Marc @ Dec 11th 2006 5:05PM
you don't need to do all that confusing stuff. All you have to do is go on your psp web browser and go to the PSP page, already in your bookmarks, go to games and downloads, look for loco roco, find the new demo, and download it. It conveniantly downloads to PSP\Common which appears in the Games folder. Its the same thing just much much easier.

but then i hacked the xmas one to work on them all!
i think i deserve a star joystiq! come on! please??

@Matthew
I agree about the PS3 thing. I have thought numerous times how this game would be great on the PS3 with the sixaxis.
polar @ Dec 11th 2006 5:24PM
i think it would be sweet if that game came out on the wii...
Sam @ Dec 11th 2006 5:51PM
Too bad Sony makes it...
And you don't have to name the folder you put it in anything special. You can actually name it whatever you want.
AceMilo @ Dec 11th 2006 6:25PM
"but PSPs must be updated to firmware v3.02 to play."
Not really, if you have a hackable firmware (1.5, 2.71se-c, etc) just install the newest devhook and emulate 3.02 and you're good to go without giving up homebrew goodness.
Tyler @ Dec 11th 2006 8:00PM
It worked on mine! Great Fun!!!! I love the music so catchy! I have 3.02 so it worked fine.

I got this demo in the UK about a month ago - for v2.82.
It sucks compared to the other demo, but it's still fun when your fucking UMD drive is broken D:

Lets hear some shout outs for the man!
Thanks John !
Both files work fine on 2.81 thank you [didn't notice a difference]
Demo itself doesn't feel as rich and genuine as previous ones,...more slapped together and modified.
But makes for a nice little snack.
Also for those who don't own the game its a great chance to finally try out those slippery fun ice-levels
John @ Dec 12th 2006 10:43AM
lol the 2nd 1 will work from 1.0 upwards!
