Today's hottest game video: Burning Crusade opening cinematics

Today's hottest game video by only about ... 350,000 views is the world premiere of the World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade opening cinematics. It was introduced by Brandon Routh at Spike TV's dubious Video Game Awards last Friday night (his intro didn't get captured here but trust us, it was boring), and uses a freaky culty choir with some fog effects to belt out some WoW tunage. You'll probably be able to see a high quality version of the real thing after the VGAs air on Wednesday.
How many of you have this on your holiday wishlist, even though it doesn't come out until January 15th? If you're shopping for Joystiq, it's on our list too.

Oh my god.
That was amazing.
FSK405K @ Dec 11th 2006 12:33AM
When is everyone going to realize they really are going to release this on Jan 15, 2008?
Jason W. @ Dec 11th 2006 12:49AM
I still haven't realized it my self :P
Splinter @ Dec 11th 2006 12:53AM

"I dont have an account, I have a life"
pe @ Dec 11th 2006 12:54AM
If only that refelcted what the game is really like.
Rein @ Dec 11th 2006 1:00AM
I never knew Organization XIII could sing so well...
Interesting.
Aaron @ Dec 11th 2006 1:36AM
The game is definately NOT on my list, nor will it ever be. I don't play World of Warcraft, and that sure as hell isn't going to change with Burning Crusade.
I will admit that was a pretty good intro, however.
kuri @ Dec 11th 2006 2:02AM
I don't know what all the hating comments are about regarding the video. No shit, the video doesn't represent what you'll play in the game. When has a game cinematic EVER done that?
It's a very well-done, awe-inspiring piece of work that is intended to pique interest about the game, not define it.
God forbid you enjoy the video for what it is- a video.
Kudos to Blizzard, you made my jaw drop once again.
Mitsuo @ Dec 11th 2006 2:04AM
A good intro for a crappy expansion pack for a even crappier game.
thunderleg @ Dec 11th 2006 2:08AM
I'll wait for the direct-feed video.
I couldn't last 6 seconds watching that show.
kira @ Dec 11th 2006 2:10AM
the time blizzard spent on making that cinematic couldve been better spent on actually making the dam servers work
Vaitork @ Dec 11th 2006 2:22AM
Holy. Shit.
That's awesome! Can't wait to see this in full quality. Oh, and screw the haters, really.
Chainers_edict @ Dec 11th 2006 3:14AM
@ 11
Yes, because the team that works on making a one time use cinematic is the same team that runs and feeds the little hampsters that power the Blizzard servers.
Cheezedog420 @ Dec 11th 2006 3:30AM
11. The artists make the videos, animations, and shape the things people touch in game. Programers make the servers work, and make sure what the artists make, work as intendid. So leave the artists alone about the servers... Mmmm Kay?
Azerael @ Dec 11th 2006 3:37AM
13, you are absolutely right. Except it's the StarCraft team running the wheels so they don't get in the way of Blizzard's MMO crud.
Leto @ Dec 11th 2006 4:09AM
Awesome intro.
Loque @ Dec 11th 2006 4:36AM
They seem to have left out the part with the immature playerbase and the chuck norris jokes...
Dave @ Dec 11th 2006 7:28AM
I must say F##k me. BC is gonna to blow every single warcraft players head off.
Mitsuo- get a life mate.
Muskie @ Dec 11th 2006 8:12AM
Why is it that Blizz outdo themselves on EVERY GODDAMN FMV THEY DO?
Smegging hell, I want the Direct Feed HD version of that...
Mike @ Dec 11th 2006 9:01AM
NICE INTRO
Crappy addicting game for losers who have a better life and more virtual friends than real ones.
Crappyness Expanded in this Expansion Pak Sweet!.
Maybe in 2015 WOW 2's graphics will look like that intro then I might care. Right now the blocky graphics are N64 ish.
And if I see another video of WOW characters dancing made by 12 years olds I'm gonna strangle a kitten.
Darkness @ Dec 11th 2006 9:42AM
N64ish? I think you forgot what N64 games looked like. That term is over used and definitely an exageration. Go back and play some N64 games.
Boing @ Dec 11th 2006 10:03AM
LOL
Some of you make me laugh. Yeah, it's a really shitty game. That's why there are MILLIONS of people paying a monthly fee to play it regularly.
You say we have no life because we play WoW. I suppose we'd have more of a life if we played something else such as Final, Final, Final, (really this is the final) Fantasy instead?
You say the game doesn't look nice enough or the game doesn't run smoothly? Try upgrading your dinosaur of a PC then or getting broadband. The game runs just fine for me with all of the bells and whistles settings cracked up and I really don't think that my PC is special by any means.
Most of the haters posting in this thread come across as people who joined a PVP server and had their asses handed to them and lost interest. Either that or they never even played the game and are just talking out of their anuses.
DCSimian @ Dec 11th 2006 10:29AM
Meh...lost interset in the game. Video was wicked cool though. Tried to get back into it, but just recently cancelled the account. Kudos to those who still have fun in the game...I'm not one of you.
JS @ Dec 11th 2006 11:28AM
Fukin shit,, a tear dropped my eye
mark @ Dec 11th 2006 11:36AM
"the time blizzard spent on making that cinematic couldve been better spent on actually making the dam servers work"
Yes, because we all know, network technicians and graphic / video designers are one in the same...
Stfu and THINK before you SPEAK. /rant
Dirtyboy @ Dec 11th 2006 12:05PM
If only the opening cinematics were actual gameplay...
Koji @ Dec 11th 2006 1:08PM
Why do people hate every damn popular game just to disagree with people? WoW sucks! GoW sucks! Halo SUCKS!
They were all really good games that just got a cult of haters because they sold well. Sure WoW might be the best MMO, GoW might not be the best 3rd person shooter, and Halo might now be the best FPS, But they are all still great games, If you are going to sit there on your computer trying to convince everyone on the internet that your opinion is a fact, Why don't you go out and try playing the games for more than 15 minutes.
P.S. I'm pumped about burning crusade, Nice post Joystiq.
David @ Dec 11th 2006 1:34PM
And...it's gone. I'm actually pretty surprised it was on for that long, if Blizzard didn't intend for it to be freely available.
GL @ Dec 11th 2006 1:44PM
I can understand why people don't like WoW. From just watching the game it does really look stupid. I used to watch my friends play it and wonder why they would ever play it. But i tried it on my old computer, and it ran like crap, so again, I thought it was stupid. Two months ago I upgraded my computer and decided to try it once more. Now that it runs good on my laptop, I love the game. There is always something to do, and after two months, the game hasn't gotten boring yet. It does take a lot of time and may seem like a lot of money, but in the long run, I will save money playing the game, not having to buy a new $60 game for my 360 every month.
TheDoomer @ Dec 11th 2006 4:17PM
Does anyone have a link to this video somewhere else? By the time I got around to watching, it was removed.
makesevenupyours @ Dec 11th 2006 7:43PM
seriously, i dont understand why people are getting on here and talking shit on the game.
if joystiq posts something about a game i dont like, i dont waste my time trying to tell them its not a good game. i may say i dont care for it or whatever, but more than likely i will just skip the post and read on.
and how could you expect joystiq to NOT post this? its their game video of the day, AND world of warcraft is a true gaming phenomenon(did i spell that right?). nearly 8 million people forking out 15 bucks a month to play this game is AMAZING.
and blizzard really doesnt care that much about some people on the net, because they are STILL raking in 100+ million dollars EVERY MONTH.
and i dont see why you would rip them for having ANOTHER great cinematic. blizzard has ALWAYS made good cinematics since the mid nineties...and they continue. i mean, so thats not what the gameplay graphics look like, boohoo. just enjoy it for what it is. i personally loved ALL the cinematics from Warcraft 3. they were AWESOME!!
Vaitork @ Dec 11th 2006 10:35PM
Thing is, Blizzard is one of those (very rare) gaming companies that has always loved what they do. Jeez, go check Warcraft II cinematics. Those were ground-breaking at the time. Then Starcraft, with Tassadar's self sacrifice being the most epic finale cinematic until that point, only overtrown by Illidan vs Arthas a while after.
Heck, look at them now. They are inmensely richer than they were over two years ago, before WoW came in... And still they manage to go over the top and impress us like this. That's fucking love, i'm telling ya.
Kwipper @ Dec 12th 2006 12:51AM
You know what's funny. All these disgruntled people here bashing World of Warcraft are just pissed off that they lost all of their friends to it. WAAAAHHHH! My friends don't want to play with me anymore because World of Warcraft sucked them in! Boo hoo hoo!
That is exactly what their problem is. Right there.
RogueJedi86 @ Dec 12th 2006 6:00AM

Quick before they take it off there too!!
And to all you WoW haters, must suck to know that here's a game you cant cheat at with a bot or hack. I bet you guys tried and got your account zapped.
