i really don't know if the shortages are as bad as they say, i think people just need to look harder (ie not just in GAME!), cause I got one and so did several others i know of on the launch day. And anyway they are still easier to get hold of in UK than PS3's!!!!!

Got my Wii at 12.10am on the 8th, the shop (gamestation) manager said it's the biggest launch they've ever had (most enquires, most people at the midnight launch, most preorders). It is truly worth it, i'm so happy with the games and Zelda is like an old friend that's been away for a while, it's so good to have him home.

In 12 hours? Really? I expected them to fly off the shelves a lot faster than that. Hrm...

Wiis are completely sold out round here, I keep seeing little groups clustered around the empty Wii displays like the apes around the monolith in 2001.

Joystiq

Slow news day?

How about some posts where the bloggers tell us about themselves. Their gaming preferences, top 3/5/10 best and worse games, consoles, gaming memories, etc etc.

Think of it as a "get to know your joystiqers ummm... thing"

Just something to break up the boredom and give us a good excuse to not do work/homework/coursework/projects.

Or even contributors can do the same.

Thanx, Kye.

That's because they are the only country in Europe that matters.

I think it is good that the Wii's are selling out but shouldn't a statement like the one David Yarnton released be held until after the Wii is readily available? Just because initial stocks of limited availability sold out doesn't mean people have completely embraced it yet.

You can't really be that stupid. The post is clearly about the UK, as in the United Kingdom. The fact that the only major city they mention is London and that 50,000 consoles is much less than the amount sent to Europe didn't clue you in. Don't a smart ass(arse for you europeans), because you'll just look like a dumbass, Jackass.

If anyone wants to know where is Wii still available in the UK?
There are 2 left on the shelf in Amersham's Woolworths. Maybe it will be gone now but it hasn’t been sold out since the launch.

I bought once after the college then realise not satisfy enough of worth. So I have to buy other 2 for eBay. Now I got the first Wii for free from profit which it is worth now.

Wii Sport, and Play are far too short game but good fun.

They can still be found though it is just where you look, I just had a rather embarressing call from my mum saying she just bought a Wii and 3 games O_O, I replied rather loudly back at her WTF!

Apparently it "looked like fun", now im jealous of my mum owning a wii before me, what has the world come to.

Is 50,000 units a great release for the UK? If they sold out so quickly shouldn't they of had more on hand?

When you are talking about shipping millions of units...50 grand seems like a little amount.

I'm not Wii hater, but don't understand why I'm not reading Sonyesque backlash over shipping so few units.

Ehm yes? He said that Europe is always about UK. And you correct him by saying the post is about UK?

Its always like this beacuse americans only care about the UK in Europe. So its not unusual to see news from UK only. I guess its beacuse they share the same language. Or something
Either way its not something I get pissed of about, but seeing an american trying to deny that statement is just silly. Like you would have any clue on how it is in Europe for countries other then from the U.K

Its not like we are going to see sales charts(/information) from any other country in Europe. Well maaaaybe France and Germany if someone cares enough.

Looks like the Wii is becoming a strong contender for the 360. The PS3 and their crappy shortage is missing out on all of the action...

Whats so impressive here? The GC sold 89,000 during launch weekend in the UK. It was at the time the biggest selling lauch weekend console ever in the UK. Maybe if Nintendo actually shipped a decent amount of units to the third single largest games market in the world the figures would have been even more impressive.

These Wii shortages are rediculous.

The PS3 is a manufacturing nightmare, it costs a fortune, and not many people want it. It's sold out. The Wii is extremely simple and cheap to make, and the hardware has been finalized for a lot longer than the PS3. It's sold out. Even official TV cables are still sold out, and you can only get them from one web site.

And then people accuse Sony of intentionally limiting supplies to make it look like a big seller. But then, this is expected when people only talk about how many systems sell on launch day.
