I HOPE Sony does try to pull this this Generation, so I can watch as the attachment rate is so low thanks to the expensive technologies that will need to go into the eyetoy that will jack up the price. As soon as the Devs see that the attachment rate is so slow, they will not support it, and it will go the way of most other addons, with only a few gimmicky games being made for it.

Now if Sony would of done this before the launch and make sure every PS3 had an eyetoy, then maybe they would be on to something.

Ok so they put in motion sensors... but there is one big issue still...

The PS3 is an expensive system that has useless features. You can't play all PS1&2 game on it or continue previously saved games... You can only use Blu-Ray with it, and each game costs $60 and I am stretching it with a $50 PS2 game. Let's face it I'm an average gamer that they SHOULD be competing for my attention. I'm a male college student, what else can I dobetween classes and on weekends? And I would be even easier to win over than most since I hate Microsoft. But because Sony decided that people like me are too poor to play their new games why should they bother trying to jump on this bandwagon, when they can abandon their fans in the first place.

"36. If Sony succeeds, and at this rate it is unlikely but still, couldn't Nintendo, Immersion, Microsoft, and everyone else press charges against Sony for trying to monopolize the video game market? I think Microsoft got sued for that, so they would have some experience."

I'm sorry but this is one of the most inane things I've read in this thread (and that's saying a lot), but how can you even think about charging Sony with monopolistic tactics when there's a very healthy and competitive console gaming industry right now? This is really as stupid as it gets folks.

YOU SONY FANBOYS HAVE BEEN PUNKED!! SO IS THE WIIMOTE STILL A GIMMICK? IT'S FUNNY HOW I HEARD THAT A 1000 TIMES FROM SONY FANBOYS WHEN THE CONCEPT OF THE WIIMOTE WAS FIRST SHOWN. IT'S FUNNY HOW I'M HEARING IT LESS AND LESS NOWADAYS. CAN I GET A SONY FANBOY TO ANSWER ME? IS IT STILL A GIMMICK? SOMEONE? ANYONE? ITS FUNNY HOW A GIMMICK WILL NOW SHOW UP FOR THE PS4. IT'S TOO LATE TO BE FOR PS3. PERIPHERALS NEVER SELL WELL AND SONY HAS ALREADY MISSED THE WII TRAIN. I'M JUST SORRY TO SAY THAT BY THE TIME PS4 COMES OUT, THERE WILL ALREADY BE SOMETHING BETTER THAN MOTION SENSING CONTROL. YOU WILL SEE. AND NINTENDO WILL BE THE INNOVATORS THAT WILL UNVEIL IT. UNFORTUNATELY FOR SONY, BEING THE IMITATORS MEANS YOU WILL ALWAYS BE 2 STEPS BEHIND.....THIS IS TOO FUNNY OPTIMUS. I'M LAUGHING AT YOU.

This is no big deal. By the time Sony develops this thing, 4 years from now, all the devs will have jumped the PS3 ship and no one will be making games for it. This is true cause devs will have already made tons of games for Wii's "gimmicky" motion controls, for less money too. So let Sony have their eyetoy thing. No one will want it.
I already said there will be motion sensing on all the next gen consoles. It's not a fad, just like the analog stick, rumble...

@ 57, Yes, you are.

And the funniest thing in this whole debate has nothing to do with motion sensing tech. The funniest thing is that a person who calls themself "Optimus Prime" keeps calling others childish and telling them to grow up. Go stick a Transformer toy up your ass, sad act.

Looks like it will be for the next eyeToy... Has lots of potential but ultimately it will not be as popular as the wii-mote since its not bundled... UNLESS sony bundles it with the PS3 and gives it free to those who bought one earlier.

This will definitely be on the PS4.

You guys can argue 'who copied who?', but at least we can confirm that thanks to the wii... gameplay will continue to evolve.

Full-body motion sensing? Oh, when will the madness stop?

This kind of thing presents possibilities when holographics becomes reality. Until then, it's not very useful to map movement in a 3D world onto a 2D screen. This reminds me of playing golf on the Wii. Keep your eye on the ball -- oh, wait... no, keep your eye on the screen as you swing! Yeah.

Or, is this supposed to be another EyeToy gimick? Yeah, I like swatting UFOs with my hands, as if they were mosquitoes. It'd be more fun if I was squashing marketting execs.

Cut out this crap and give me some good strategy games. You know, the now defunct genre where you have to think, you won't get bored in 5 damn minutes, and you're not expected to think something is fun because it's based on cutting edge technology that costs about $2 to manufacture.

First off PS3 is expensive enough, so what is this going to bring the bill to? Maybe, $800.00? I don't know if anyone know this but Sony's aready losing tons of money on just the PS3. 2nd how many developer's will exactly support new motion rig. Sony's just tries too hard to be everything to everyone. I don't think people will pay the price this time around. To be honest Sony sounds desperate.

@Optimus Prime

Hey, remember this post you made?

Source: http://www.joystiq.com/2006/10/13/news-flash-wii-motion-controls-doable-without-sweating/

"People are going to buy Zelda, call in sick, run home, and put in as many hours on it as possible and in as little time as possible; 6, 8, 10 hours a day ..isnt unrealstic. Thats the true test, not, this two hour experimentation with the hardware.

And, have you ever used a laser pointer for a presentation.. was that fun? ..now imagine surfing the web with that pointer for 2+ hours; every other day, ..for the next 2+ years.

And, RSIs have to do with small movements, done over and over and over, over a period of time ... this is what the Wiimote is doing with its pointing and gesture input..and its worst than with std. controllers (with button presses) becuase you are using the larger muscles in your forearms and (in some cases) the ever larger muscles in your sholder.
