Halo 3 tune finishes the fight on iTunes, not Zune

Bungie has announced that Marty O'Donell's score from the Halo 3 E3 trailer (not the "starry night" commercial ... or its remixes) titled "Finish the Fight" is now available on Apple's iTunes Music Store for the going rate of $0.99 (with free DRM!). What's interesting is that there's no mention -- and no sign -- of the song's availability on Microsoft's recently launched (and much ballyhooed) Zune

Most likely just an oversight or delay.
I deem this a mole hill.

I'll buy that for a dollar!
(or 99¢ as it were)

bungie was originally a mac development studio for many years before microsoft snapped it up. some habits are tough to kick!

DRM. Sweet.

a small price to pay to not be a part of the ipod/itunes crowd. zune ftw

Awesome song!
But Cortana... she sounds... EVIL
maybe that's some of the plot in the third game? Cortana turns on you?

So instead of not being apart of the iPod/iTunes crowd, you're apart of the anti-iPod/iTunes crowd?
You're not a rebel, you're dickriding a bandwagon one way or another. Your bandwagon just has the ability to "squirt" songs if you can find another person with a Zune in your state.

who ever said i was a rebel??? its as simple as this: i pick the mp3 player i like and i buy it. so i dont like ipods and itunes, so what? you sound like you work for apple the way you seem to be so offended lol. geeze, settle down there guy.

Why is it that some people insult and distance themselves from iPod/itunes and people that use them? What, it isn't "cool" to have what's popular with other people? You know the truth. It's the same with bands like punk bands as well. For example: Green Day was a smaller, non-mainstream back in the late 80's-1996, but as soon as they became popular, many "fans" started to hate the band and the newer fans, just because they didn't think they were "special" or "unique" anymore.

you are greatly misunderstanding the issue if you are commenting on the previous comments. sure, that is sometimes the case with some people, but not here. i never liked the ipod and i am now greatful for a player that i truly like. i have never owned an ipod and didnt like it when it was first introduced. its not that the ipod "isnt special or unique anymore", i never liked it to begin with. your comment does have validity, just not towards mine if that is what you are referring to.
samfish @ Dec 16th 2006 12:45AM
This is probably because Zune is a total hunk of shit.
Christ, even Bill Gates admitted it wasn't as good as the iPod...
ill trooper @ Dec 16th 2006 1:47AM
Turo, you're the one checking the comments hours later and replying like a defensive guy... Maybe you can join CTG when you tell him to 'settle down.' If he sounds like he works for Apple, you sound like you work for Microsoft - posting fake blog entries.
The logic you use is nuts: Not having the Halo song on Zune's Store is a win for Zune because iTunes and the iPod have it, and that's the 'small price' you will gladly pay to 'not be part of the iTunes/iPod crowd?' "Thank God we can avoid being like the iPod by not offering that song, the one people likely associate with us." You are simply a HATER with that one. That's called "Cutting off the nose to spite the face."
What sort of ignorant hater says they can't stand iPods but types 'ZUNE FTW?'
Special Late Pass Just For You™: The iPod and the Zune are the exact same thing: 30gigs, enclosed battery, DRM'd music store, $250.
Except you can get smaller, cheaper, lower-capacity iPods if you want. Or pay more and get a larger capacity 80 gig iPod. Well, you do have me on 'Brown;' the Zune does come in brown. And the Zune's WiFi could be cool, if you could buy music over it, or if you find someone else that owns a Zune, which only lets you play the 'squirted' song 3 times, even if it's your own creation with no DRM at all. Cool idea, but stunted by the mothership. Stepped in the ring weak against iTyson; Zune loses round one.
As for Joystiq and some of the other comments here, please don't forget that DRM is not unique to iPods and iTunes, all online music stores use it.

@ill trooper:
i post an hour later becuase i dont sit here all day checking what is new every 5 minutes. and hrrm..fake blog entries...yeah...im sorry if speaking my mind is wrong to you. and oh yes, zune and ipod are not the same obviously...sure they both have a music store, but i greatly favor the former's software over the latter. the differences are there even if they are very similar. and as for being defense...i merely try to clear up misperceptions about what i say becuase its not my fault that some dont seem to understand.
and "ignorant hater"? what the fuck is wrong with you??? you cant say that seeing as you dont know me and have no idea how much i do or dont know about both products. i know no less that yourself and i did my homework and for that reason never bought an ipod and picked the zune.
and as far as my "logic", you make no sense your self. when did i say that not having the song was a win for zune??? you for some odd reason connected to separate statements into a lie that you put in my mouth.
Turo @ Dec 16th 2006 3:05AM
correction: "two* separate statements"
RainbowFrankenstein @ Dec 16th 2006 4:43AM
well im with you turo, in the sense that i think the zune appeals more to me than an ipod. i think the ipod's a great mp3 player and certainly wouldnt turn it down if it were given to me, but for some strange reason i feel more fitted to the zune.
but i dont care really, people like what they like. we have to all deal with that and just enjoy having our own tastes.
ipod and zune can co-exist in peace, if you sat them by eachother and waited for hours. they would never fight once.
amen

For those of you who hate the DRM, if you don't know already, here are some programs to convert it.
Get QTFairUse to convert the m4p to m4a (it's unprotected at that point), then use JHymn to convert that to Wav, and then to Mp3 if you like. :)
Turo @ Dec 16th 2006 1:57PM
@rainbowfrankenstein:
lol come to think of it, a pc vs. mac type commercial would be pretty funny :D
