Fake NiGHTS 2 trailer

With many gamers still able to freak out at trailers for titles like Halo 3 and WoW: Burning Crusade, which have nothing to do with actual gameplay, we'd like to show this fake trailer for NiGHTS 2. The video was created by 1UP blogger Jan Neves and it does whet the appetite for some more NiGHTS. Figured we'd preemptively debunk this thing before it somehow gained traction like these videos tend to do.

But i seriously think this game would do better on PS3 or Wii (NiGHTS was MADE for Motion Controls)

Lets see SEGA get some revenue (or their console industry back) and then maybe they can focus on all these sequels they need to make

If we weren't told it was fake, I might think that was real. It was made very well. Thanks for reminding me how godly Nights 2 would be! Now how am I going to get my mind off of it... Perhaps some original Nights, go Saturn!

Well, if not on the Wii....it would rock as an XBLA game. I mean, how complex can the original really be? I'm sure after almost a decade, they could optimize it for the 50mb limit.

They could probably fit the gameplay down to a size where it would work for any of the 3 downloadable services, my only concern would be FMV's, those might get problematic

Nights was MADE for Analog stick and Microsoft does provide the best controller for a game like that.
Saturn game was bundled with a analog controller.
How do you play it with sixaxis? broken wrists in 15 minutes when trying to do 10x360 loops?

360 would be the ideal pick for extremely detailed game with beautiful texturework & smooth framerate that a Nights game needs.

The game would be basically raped if played with sixaxis and limited only for people who can afford a ps3. The graphics level would suffer too =(

Please #7. You sound like MS's paid mouthpiece. It would obviously play and run better on the PS3. Even the Wii version would work. You're just being threatened because the Dreamcast 2 you invested your cash in is sinking faster than the Titanic.

but with the wii you could use the nunchuck to do 360's and the wiimote to do barrel rolls and such. This would actually be the third NiGHTS game to be released. A modified version of NiGHTS was released. It was called "Christmas NiGHTS into dreams". It was a limited edition of Nights modified into a xmas themed game. It's one of my prized possessions.

Yes, the ORIGINAL was. We're talking a sequel here. They could use tilt functionality on other the SIXAXIS or Wii remote, the more you tilt it the sharper NiGHTS turns. Or they could use the pointer functionality of the remote, that'd probably be the most accurate way...

But yeah, I dunno. I sure as hell wouldn't complain if they made a NiGHTS sequel for 360. It would be a bit of a wasted opportunity, though.

I love how everyone's jaw dropped, saying "Someone has way too much time on their hands." ...The guy who made it spliced everything with the original opening, and the only real work he had to do was create the "2" in some 3D program of sorts.

NiGHTS is one of those classics that average gamers never got to experience. It ranks up there with Ico (for PS2) and a handful of others.

While the game might have interesting play mechanics on Wii, the system doesn't have the horsepower to do the game justice in terms of graphics.

360 would make the most sense given the analogue control, though PS3 is probably the most likely home for the game since the fickle Japanese gaming crowd has something against non-Japanese consoles. PS3 has almost as much horsepower as 360 and the SixAxis' motion sensing capabilities could come in handy.

This is amazing. Strange, too, because I just saw this trailer for the first time two days ago. And to the people bickering, the console NiGHTS 2 should be on matters not. My own opinion is that it should be on the Wii. But what really matters is that, if one is ever made, it be done properly, and in the true spirit of NiGHTS Into Dreams.

Also, I should state that #15 has the right idea. If Sega ever does make a NiGHTS sequel, then keep it true to NiGHTS into dreams, and don't release it until it's perfect. I think I need to find NiGHTS for my Saturn to play it again.

I really hope Sony Plays Sega to make a Nights 2 game.
With the SixAxis the game could really turn out great and may be this way Sega could get back the old days when there games where some of the best out there.

I would buy any console system to play NiGHTS 2. Any of them. It would be fantastic on DS or Wii, but hell, I'd buy a PS3 or a 360 for it.

New consoles are not worthy of Nights, this game is too good be re/released on other systems. I feel that any version, new or old, will ruin the ambiance of the game. If you want to enjoy Nights, take out your old beautiful Satun from your closet, dust it off, and hook it up. Nights shows off the artistic style of its the time on Saturn (with compromised technology; relatively speaking). Why would you want to take that away by putting it on a non-Sega system. If a sequel has to be released, it should be either on Saturn, or Dreamcast. On an interesting side note, there are a bunch of game developers still releasing new games for the DC. I hope to God sega NEVER makes a NiGHTS 2. EVER. No, not because I don't like the game, in fact I absolutely love and adore the first one. It's just that if Sega were to be in charge of it now (specially since yuji is gone) NiGHTS would probably be flying a freakin jet fighter shooting stuff with missiles and machine guns and rocket launchers. XXXTREEEEMMME. I'll never forgive sega for mercilessly humiliating and raping its own mascot. Poor sonic.

The video was high quality, but made little sense as far as an actual trailer goes. Shows the title, watches the dude fly around a bit, then shows the title again. Where's the suspense? The mystery of what the new title will be? Showing off new gameplay mechanics? Good idea / bad execution.

Jan Neves made this video only has a tribute to the possibility of an NiGHTS 2.
I already seen anothers animations of others game icons done by him, like an MasterChief dancing.
All that i can say is: Jan Neves is a very talented Portuguese!

It's really amazing how this flew through the internets. I made this trailer just for fun and out of admiration for the 1st game. I definitely never intended for it to sturr up so much talk - nothing else I ever made did. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to watch it and comment on it!

I love Sega games, and it pains me to see them doing so badly with their latest releases. Even VF4 on PS2 didn't seem to do as well as Tekken 4, which I thought was tripe. The whole hoopla having to sell VC because of the EA thing when they incurred a loss to make the franchise profitable.. anyway, I have a radical idea. I am a true gamer and I think all of the console can succeed (With billions of people on the planet, there are enough people to support the system makers, especially since some hardcore gamers buy all of the systems their favorite games come on). Sega Sammy holdings has recently be showing profits, but not from its gaming division. If this keeps up, they may scrap it. Before this happens, I think MS should buy the gaming division from them. Sega (SElect GAmes) was started by some Americans in Japan if I remember correctly, and they have plenty of franchised Japanese gamers would love to play, as wel as the rest of us. MS has the cash to guarantee job security (I remember in the Dreamcast days my favorite studios were being combined with others it seemed almost every other month to cut costs on a sinking ship) and they can take the time to make sure that the games are FINISHED. They can also hire the original designers as consultants on the project, or bring in their team to create sequels if possible. With the amount of money they have been spending in Japan, this may actually be CHEAPER, and the other territories would benefit as well. Sony is not in the financial picture to buy SEGA's gaming division, and Nintendo doesn't need to.

Yep, brilliant trailer. And who cares what system they make it for. Why not all of them, with multiple control methods as options for each version?
