The numbers need to be posted; Sony has outsold every Microsoft video game console whether it be their console or portable platforms.

Sony PS One - 102,000,000
Xbox 1 - 24 million
Sony PS2 - 111,000,000
Sony PSP - 22,000,000
Xbox 360 - 6 million (only 3 million in the US)
The Xbox 360 has been out in japan for one year and the PS3 has already outsold it in only a month!
The PSP has outsold the Xbox 1 in one year. The Xbox 1's entire lifespan in this industry has already been crushed by Sony's portable.
Clearly more people chose the PSP (18 million more)over the Xbox 360 in it's first year and first time in the market with a portable.
The PS3 already outselling the Xbox 360 in Japan and selling out everywhere here in the US is a clear indication that Microsoft has failed, is failing and will not achieve any dominance in this market.

Retailers continue to steadily sell out of the PS3 in the US and Japan.

The 360 is miserably failing against the PS3 and the Wii.

Sony has positioned itself admirably. They have a 129.00 affordable PS2 which shows no signs of slowing down at least until 2008. And they have the PS3 which has already crushed the xbox 360 sales in Japan (where microsoft had a one year head start) and the ps2 and PSP that continue to outsell the xbox 360.

To date:

Playstation 1 - 102,000,000 sold
Playstation 2 - 111,000,000 sold
PSP - (Released March 2005 in the US) 22,000,000 sold

Xbox 1 - 24 million units (released November 2001 in the US)
Xbox 360 - (Released December 05 in the US)6,000,000 Shipped

Neither the xbox 1 or the Xbox 360 are competing with Sony's PS2, PS3 or it's portable console (the psp)

Now my turn, I am not a Sony fan or a Nintendo one or for sure not a Microsoft fanboy! Last year this same time I picked up a Xbox 360 it was all for about $760 in a Bundle! First game included "King Kong" sucked, trashed it and Microwaved it to use as a Coaster and frisbe. 2nd game - Kameo - fine if your into that stuff, but no thanks. Finally I push in the game I bought the system for. Project Gotham Racing! It was good and I was impressed.

Three months go by and nothing great comes out. Racing can get very old, so I took up Geometry Wars like everyone else. X360 has froze up on me a number of times, but now with spring warmup I get my first BSOD and pulled the power brick out of entertainment center along with console etc. The center was heat damaged. I eventually set the brick in the window to keep cool, luckily though I didn't have any fires as I had gotten the new power cord from the recall (remember that? didn't think so).

Not an Oblivion game type fan, but I decided to pick it up cuz it was touted as the only NexGen title for X360. Lock ups and BSOD's going into summer. Lots of waits while it cooled down. Then it started the tree red lights and the error code. Sometimes I got it working but most times not. Oh good I thought, new updates that'll take care of it and it did. Never ran after that, I had lost my receipt after 8 months. So I was told I was shit out of luck! All I got for that money was a couple of doorstops!!!!

I have a PC to game on so that's what I did. I was in no way going to take another chance on an X360 and so I waited for a PS3, and got a pre-order on launch day! Hadn't been paying much attention to the hype, but when I pulled that thing out of the box, I was massively impressed!

It ran cool as ice and quiet as can be especially when compared to an X360. I picked up Resistance and it played incredibly well on my Sony Bravia HDTV. Ran the update and was online in just a few minutes. Now to shorten this up, I've never purchased a piece of hardware and been this impressed. I would never ever buy another Xbox 360! And as for Wii, I've played it. It's a laugh for about a second then you think about the money Nintendo is actually making for putting out this flimsy piece of trash and you are oh so glad you got that Sony PS3!

The best Playstation of all has just landed in the U.S. and I'm excited to have one to play no matter what you moronic Xbots and WeeWiis have to say! In the end it'll be Sony PS3-Peat time when the flood of "A" games come out through 2007 and 2008! Still the largest base of Developers of any console out. And as for the Exclusives, it just can't be matched and contrary to common belief PS3 is gaining exclusives from X360! That the true! So just stuff it and why aren't you playin your junk consoles if there so hot?????? Fools! LOL

Well, well; I was quite surprised to catch this page today and see it still going................that Dave Mendez man I tell ya! ;)

The Sony PS3 is a steal at 500 or 600.

What else can the PS3 do that the xbox 360 can't do without all these expensive Microsoft Accesories called "CHOICES"?

It can browse the internet with ease. All you have to do is hook up any usb keyboard and launch the browser.

Microsoft is up against the very wall they cemented! If they release a browser for the xbox 360 and word got out how cheap it was they'd have a tough time explaining things to companies like Dell, HP, Gateway, Alienware etc....who make high and low end pc's with Windows Media Center, Xp and soon Vista.

Let's take a look at how this can play out; a move like that will end Microsoft; it will allow Apple to come in with OSX and ease the pain that Microsoft will cause Dell, HP, Gateway and every other computer company who hopes to sell expensive high and low end pc's with Windows Media Center or Vista installed.

Dave, there's something I've been meaning to tell you. In many of your posts you refer to yourself in the third person, usually to brag about how those you're debating with have been "pwned by Mendez" or something to that effect. Even if everything you say is completely correct and you've soundly defeated their arguments (which in my opinion isn't the case, but that's besides the point), bragging about it afterwards just makes you come off as a jerk. This is just some friendly advice for you, with no malicious intent whatsoever. People will like you better for it.

Also, please don't copy and paste stuff that you've posted elsewhere. Particularly in the same thread, but this also applies to what you've posted just now. You can claim that it's important and people need to hear what you have to say, but in all likelihood people will already have read over it once, so there's simply no need for it.

Well big exclusives don't seem to be the norm anymore and an several early price drops didn't help the original Xbox so maybe Sony has truly shot themselves in the foot.

Exclusives will come and go; Especially since the developers haven't come up with anything innovative in the past 3, 4 or 5 versions of the same game with an added character or two.

Developers have become complacent and lack innovation; therefore they look to take the easy road and offer games non exclusively or exclusivley to Sonys competitors.

Proof! A particular horror game by capcom was released on a competing console and sold over 1,000,000 copies. This game offers nothing new; nor does the Grand Theft Auto Clone. Yet they were able to sell it to a competitor struggling to gain legitamacy along with it's gamers who were desperate for a new game that wasn't a FPS.

I do hope to see more exclusives disappear. This will allow the unknown game developer to introduce new and innovative games and gameplay that may have been overlooked in the past due to the monopolization of these other software companies and the exclusive/non exclusive deals to cover up a lack of innovation and getting a fast buck for the same repackaged games!

So go ahead and toot that Exclusive/Non Exclusivity horn! Let the other developers sneak in from behind and dismantle the Monopoly with new games and gameplay!

There are two sides to every story!

First, There will always be 2-3 companies fighting the console wars... THIS IS GOOD, we DONT want only one.. Competition creates advancement, it creates GOOD games, it lowers prices.... Stop trying to kill the "other guy"

Second, PS3 will not fail

Third, PS3's are available at stores because of the cost and game-lineup..... Wii's are being sold because of the hype, give it a year and people will realize its a old-gen system with finicky controls... and the remotes are about 20% more expensive then 360/PS3

Forth, It takes a year+ for a console to showcase "gem" games. 360 just came out with Gears and its killer, PS3 wont have anything like this until mid/late 2007. Before you go claiming PS3 sucks, wait for the games

Fifth, Stop thinking your console is the best console (whichever one it may be)

Sixth, The Blueray vs. HDDVD thing is void until we have a clear winner, until then, stop using it as a argument because your "HighDef-Player" means nothing in a year if that format fails

*Disclaimer - I own a 360 and i love it. I hate microsoft as a company but their system is pretty solid.... Im not going to discredit PS3 yet... although the price sucks

Here’s why the ps3 sucks:

-Too expensive, I work at a video game store, I tell people it has blue-ray and 80% of them have no idea what I’m talking about. They want the ps3 to play GAMES, not watch movies
-No titles! I know it’s a launch system, but 360’s were flying off shelves until at least early march. Around early march/late February we actually started having them in stock regularly. Their launch lineup was far from spectacular, but they sold systems like nuts regardless.

For all you ignorant Sony lovers who just complain about how the 600 is worth it, fine, I’ll agree with that. The 60gb hard drive, memory card readers, wireless internet, blue-ray makes it a worthwhile purchase from a technological standpoint. But here’s the thing - it’s not going to make people run out and spend 600 dollars. If i see a 5000 dollar car that’s usually 9000, that’s a helluva deal, but it’s not going to entice me to go out and spend 5000 dollars.

I’ve spoken with the sony rep about this, he just keeps repeating that once people see the games and see what they’re getting for the price, they will buy it. Wrong bucko, seeing a great deal will not make people go shell out tons of money.

For all you sony kids who compare prices of totals spent to make each system equal..I’ll agree the ps3 is cheaper if you had all components throw up against each other respectively. But the big thing is..with 360 you have A CHOICE. You don’t need/want wireless internet? Spend 15 dollars to buy a 50 dollar cable. Is your router right next to your 360, why do you need wireless? A 6 foot cable will suffice. Don’t care about HD-DVD’s? Don’t buy the addon! YOU HAVE A CHOICE! With PS3, blu-ray is shoved down your throat. You have no choice in the matter.

But mr.sony I don’t really care about blu-ray

Superior graphics = win, right sony lovers? Wrong, I’ll use world of warcraft as an example for the first time. Everquest 2 has beautiful graphics, as does guild wars. World of warcraft has cheesy cartoon graphics. Look who’s bringing in billions a year now. The cheesy graphics company!

Also funny how sony lovers claimed ps2 was so great because of its library etc. You’re right, the ps2 is a solid system because of all the great exclusives it had. Now you claim the ps3 is the best and will win because of it’s specs? Now all of a sudden you guys care about specs and tout that off as why your system will be the best seller? Why didn’t the xbox beat the ps2 then? Xbox had superior graphics, hard drive, but the ps2 still won because of the game selection. People don’t buy systems based entirely on their specs, they get it for their games.

With 360 having 10+ million units out there, and ps3 having under 2, why are companies going to continue making games exclusive to ps3? It makes 0 sense, why make games strictly for a console that nobody owns, and nobody is buying. Won’t be surprised to see more exclusives (tekken, devil may cry, metal gear solid) start jumping ship. Games are becoming more and more expensive to make. With the ps2’s 100+ million units out there, they could afford to make games exclusive to ps2 and not worry about losing money. Such a massive amount of systems out there means not a major portion of owners would have to buy their game for them to turn a profit. It’s quite the opposite for the ps3. Best selling game on 360 right now is gears of war, just hitting the 3 million mark. That’s around 30% of owners buying one title. If a company makes another ps3 exclusive, we’ll give them a benefit of doubt and say it sells like nuts and 30% of owners buy it. That’s only 600,000 copies sold? Quite a big difference. Make a decent 360 title, we’ll say only 10% of people buy it, that’s still 1 million copies sold.

Xbox live vs free ps3? No question I’d still take the xbox live. I’d rather pay 50 dollars for premium service then the rumored god awful ps3 online service. But hey guys, yours is still free! Heard of a little game called world of warcraft maybe? I think a handful of 8 million people play it, and pay 12.99-14.99 monthly for it. What happened to that guild wars game? Free online! Way better! Except people care more about the games and content and service. Have fun downloading your arcade games to..your psp? Xbox live is 49.99 for 13 months in stores now. That’s approx 3.85 cents a month, less then a dollar a week. Gee whiz, all that freaking money for reliable and excellent service? Unacceptable!

The bigger glaring issue is the 360’s early jump out the door. Sure their launch was awful, sure the games were bad, sure there has only been a few great games out so far..but they’ve gotten that head start they needed. Why did I buy a 360? Because 2 of my friends from work had one. Why did 2 of my friends buy them? To play with me and other friends. People continue buying 360’s because they want to play their games online with friends. And what do friends have? The 360! Why on earth would poor jimmy buy a ps3 when 7 of his friends all play 360 together? And jimmy’s mom will be even more excited to save herself 200 some dollars.
