A game based on The Shield was in development several years ago, but the title was eventually canceled. This is something new?

The game wasn't canceled but the game was put on hold because Sammy USA turned into High Moon Studios so they lost their publisher. They FINALLY found one a couple months ago and it's already in the next-gen era. But you gotta admit, these visuals are totally great! *snickers and rolls eyes*. Sad, I love the tv show, and I know im gonna hate the game.

I only vaguely paid attention to the game because I'm a HUGE fan of the show, but I remember the developers saying that the game would give you the ability to kick some doors in and storm the houses of various drug dealers, gang leaders, etc. Heck, it may have been THE primary game mechanic they were working on. And ... yeah ... those graphics are horrid.

lol I saw the "8-bit graphic goodness for your desktop" at the top of the RSS before clicking here.

Those graphics are so terrible, I'd go as far as comparing them to Wii!

they still make old gen games? What a waste.. Its all about next gen.

(and no you dont need to be rich to buy a next gen console, The only people complaining about price are the ones who are 14 years old and dont have jobs and the 25+ crowd whos married and their wives need another pair of shoes.)

@ 007craft

Right. So to put it another way, the only people not complaining about the price are the 15-21 year old single males. For a next-gen console looking to shift 100 million units, thats a VERY small target market.

is this the same thing I played at E3 2004? cause that game was kind of cool, but it was supposed to take place between seasons 2 and 3

the Shield is the best drama television has to offer, and I hate to see a crummy looking game like this based on it

That is actually a screenshot from a build when the game was going to come out years ago. Graphics were touched up quite a bit for the game that is actually coming out.

I love The Shield, one of the best series ever made, but do they have to be that respectless? I would prefer no game than one that, let's face it, is just going to suck.

Let's not start ripping into this game over a crappy interview. The info isn't even accurate (notice they say the fifth season is about to air, when it did last year) and the typos in the interviews. Creators/writers from the show were involved in the game, and it does have potential, not to mention those are supposedly old screenshots. I'm still waiting to see actual reviews on this one before judgement.

The Shield: The Game ... because you just couldn't get enough of Reservoir Dogs and Soprano's Road To Respect.

This is indeed a very very old screen shot the UI changed, you can tell from this screen shot:

I played a bit of the game at E3 2004 and I'm sure the Shield fans will enjoy it. The fact that Scott Rosenbaum spent more than enough time on the story I'm sure people would be happy. I trust the writers to not mess up, plus his name is on this game so it should be good.

Video footage at gamespy.com named corruption under The Shield search. Looks pretty good. A lot better than those screen shots. But of course not next-gen so don't expect normal maps or HD quality graphics guys, geez.
