More LocoRoco games, confirms Sony
After spewing some mumbo jumbo, Sony's Phil Harrison moved on to a more finite announcement in his conversation with MTV. Harrison talked LocoRoco sequels: "We're going to bring LocoRoco back in a couple of new ways with some new friends in the future."A PSP sequel is the obvious direction to take, but don't rule out a downloadable PS3 game with motion controls. As for these new friends? That implies a cannibalization of the franchise. You know, enough characters to put together a 'kart racer' and 'zany sports' spin-offs -- with a LocoRoco 'puzzler' and 'mini-game collection' on deck. Hey, it works for the other guy...

Meh. Mario has nothing to worry about. A yellow blob of goo racing around in a go-kart just doesn't sound as appealing.

Yeah Loco Roco should have been a PS3 launch title that way Optimus Grime could have some merit to his Anti Wii rants cause the original sold millions and critics LOVED it!!! Oh wait, never mind...

Just let LocoRoco die. It bombed big time in Japan, and did so-so in the states. Go back to the drawing board, and have your designers come up with a new idea.

R u crazy?
Loco roco is the only reaosn i steal my friends PSP for extended priods of time. I never know a blog of goo made form toher blobs of goo could be so much fun to make roll around and bounce.

And with that spelling, Umplaut, I can see why it appeals to you.

While I liked the cuteness and originality of Loco Roco, I can forsee no good coming out of this. I mean, the sequel to Katamari was good, but Sony's push (against the developer's will, I might add) to make it a handheld game ruined the fun.
Sorry, Sony.

...that wasn't a jab at Mario-themed sports titles, was it? Let it be known that Mario Baseball was my -favorite- Gamecube game, and I will mortgage my soul (and five or six others give me time give me time please just give me time) for some MARIO AMERICAN FOOTBALL! PLEASE!!! PLEEEEAAASE!!!

I'm glad for this... I really enjoy locoroco, and you know, its a good series, people are just skeptical about it I think...
I'd give it a bit more time, and maybe by doing so-so they mean it didn't do as amazing as they expected... but I haven't actually checked on the game sales of this, so I wouldn't know.

Good to see psp owners craving those adult, grown up titles. Being 'teh kiddy' is, after all, really shameful.
Cutty @ Dec 19th 2006 3:37PM
I, for one, hope that Sony simply develop a proper LocoRoco sequel. The original title was one of the few absolutely stunning games on the PSP; there's simply no denying its innovation, level design and pure, honest fun factor.

@8: Being teh kiddy [sic] is shameful, is it?
Isn't that an accusation oft levelled at Nintendo... and how nuts are people going trying to get hold of a Wii?
(34 years old, loving LocoRoco, and a got Wii on pre-order BTW)
