Rumor: Katamari Damacy on PS3, Wii, and 360

The latest Electronic Gaming Monthly rumor mill talks up Katamari Damacy's future on the latest generation of consoles: Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3, and Xbox Live Arcade. Sure, it makes business sense to take a successful title and exploit it for as much bottom line as possible but one shouldn't confuse logic with reality, and right now there is no confirmation from Namco.
Creator Keita Takahashi has long been done with the series every since the original and has announced his plans to move away from the video game industry. Still, the surprise hit has some life left and will probably show up on some console. Don't get your hopes up yet, though.

I'd be curious to see what they can do with the Wii motion control...

Orgasmic!

Exactly, Namco disbanded the development team that was working on Katamari, so unless somebody buys the rights from them,
I'm afraid the answer to this rumor is NO
although again, tilt or motion sensitive controls would work soooo well for this game

for as much as I hate to see one of my favorite little games get run into the ground like almost every other successful IP in video game history, I would really love to see what Katamari would be like on Wii. your two hands become the analog sticks. awesome.

Why won't this series die? It is very possible to have "too much of a good thing", especially when it's lead mind is a hypocritical whiny bitch.
Who thought Me and My Katamari was a good idea? Milk, milk, milk...

While I don't doubt Namco would try to cash in on this series once (or thrice) more, it wouldn't be the same without Takahashi. On the other hand, it owuld be interesting to see how it would play with a motion-sensitive controller, especially after spinning the Earth around on the just-dropped Wii Forecast Channel. I'd probably end up buying it anyway.
Playgrounds FTW!
