Ubisoft UK boss Rob Cooper says a lot more of his marketing monies will go to online gaming sites as the medium continues to siphon readers from print outfits. Cooper cites the obvious "instant access" of information as the reason for the shift, not to mention more timely updates and a multimedia offering.
So what does an increase in online ad spend by publishers mean to gamers like you and me? Here are a few likely predictions:
- We'll see even more game ads online. Bigger, more intrusive, and Flash-ier than before.
- Exclusive game content being offered first to game-related websites in addition to magazines.
- Internet gaming journalists can now afford Ferrari Enzos just like gaming execs! Hopefully they don't sever the red beauties while driving intoxicated.
