For the life of me, i could never figure out why the legend of zelda always receives such high praise every iteration. I recognize that the game was the first of a genre (lets face it, it's an adventure game, not an rpg)... but every new zelda game I play, I can always think of a game that's done what zelda does better.

you can't say a zelda game is good just because it's zelda.

Project Gotham Racing 3 and The Elder Scrolls VI Oblivon - Project Gotham WAS released in 2005, but I never got it until Christmas therefore it still counts.

Both of these games take huge leaps forward in terms of gameplay, graphics and longevity etc.

I'm disappointed. Personally, Dead Rising was way more important than Gears of War. Gears was just hyped 80x more. That's probably why Gears had my attention for two days and Dead Rising had my attention for two weeks.

sorry for the double post... but on the other side of things... I'd like to nominate Test Drive Unlimited as a potential 'most important game of the year.'

now... the game wasn't perfect, but a lot of it was forgiveable for the faux massive online element... which may be a good alternative to the WOW true MMO.

and frankly... I would like to see the faux MO be transposed onto other game.

for example... imagine GTA with this feature... you're doing your thing and then suddenly some other player starts rampaging on his own... as you witness him throwing molotov coctails everywhere... how awesome would that be?

i'd say fight night round 3 really made me feel like the 'next gen' was here. there was a huge, phenomenal difference between the 360 version and the others. even though a lot of it was graphics, it was pretty immersing.

and despite the horrible reviews, i also thought rumble roses xx was great. it's nice to see that some game makers aren't making a half-ass attempt at perverted games for consoles. i'm a guy, i'll stare at fake chicks all day. it's not like the great looking chicks of today don't get boob jobs anyway. rrxx also features ridiculous violence between females that you just don't see on TV wrestling. honestly, i wouldn't want to see it happen to real females. but it being a video game, it's pretty entertaining.

it's also cool to see you guys thought gow was comparable to contra. i honestly hadn't had much co-op fun since contra when it comes to running and gunning, but gow brought it.

The Co-op in Gears of War is the bread and butter of the game. Playing with a friend is hours of fun, and I imagine Co-op over live is probably even better, yelling through the headset for backup and such. This game is one of the reasons I WILL own a 360 soon. The likes of Lost Planet, Assassin's Creed, and Halo 3 will probably make me a true convert. Wii60 never looked so tasty.
