Half of those I haven't even heard of, or pronounce properly. The only one I remember (been a long time since PS1) is Dino Crisis.

@8

Don't expect anytime soon, or for the low price as many of the other PS1 titles. My guess is holiday season of 2007, to help stimulate sales of both psp and ps3.

I'd only be upset if the games were actually half-way decent. It looks like most here would agree. Put FF7 or Resident Evil on to download and then we'll hear some complaints.

Is there any reason ... any GOOD reason, why Sony requires those interested in buying PS1 games to have a PS3?

Last time I checked, the PS3 has less than a million installed fan base, while the PSP has upwards of 20 million. Does Sony not want to make money? Riddle me this...

I'll riddle you that... PS1 games will eventually be available to download AND play on both/either PSP and PS3. Expect ps3 playability in a future firmware, and PSP downloads in a future firmware. Just not yet.

MISTA DRILLA!
ALL HAIL DRILLA-SAN!

HAving said that...
There kinda ISN'T a PS1 RType.

There's RTypes, which is RType and RType 2 arcade ports on one disk.
And there's RType Delta, which is a unique PS1 game.
But there's no RType.

So which is it? RTypes or RType Delta?

inspired...Here is a possibility: What if Sony thinks they will loose money by allowing PSP owners to play PS1 games directly, because Sony wants you to buy a PS3 before you can play PS1 games.

So at this moment Sony is forcing all PSP owners who want to play PS1 games to buy a PS3. Perhaps they are hopeing this will drive PS3 sales. Probably they have done the calculations that selling cheap PS1 games to PSP owners directly leads to less profit then having PSP owners buy a PS3 and then buy PS1 games...

@niels

Actually, everytime they produce a PS3, they lose money. And it doesn't help that everyone who wants a PS3 can't even have one due to shortages. It means less people are buying games from the online store.

@glitched

Yeah, that's all good and well, but why wasn't that made an option at day one? Then PS3 owners who don't have a PSP could play PS1 games, and PSP owners who don't have a PS3 could play PS1 games. Everyone wins. What are they waiting for?!?
