Did you know?: You Don't Know Jack is back
Since the 2004 release of the relatively small You Don't Know Jack 6: The Lost Gold, our favorite fast-paced, irreverent, slightly-adult PC quiz show series has unfortunately lay dormant. No more! This month saw the premiere of YouDontKnowJack.com, and the Daily DisOrDat -- a two-minute, Flash-based matching quiz updated every weekday with You Don't Know Jack's trademark voice acting and comic pacing.Being online means the questions can be a little more topical than the dated references in the classic disc games. Today's quiz is about Donald Rumsfeld, for instance, and gamers might find this quiz oddly familiar. What's more, the setups are genuinely funny, and there are quite a few laugh-out-loud moments to be found in the archives.
We're not one to look a gift horse in the mouth or anything, but we can't help but imagine the possibilities for online versions of other Jack favorites like Gibberish Questions or even the Jack Attack. And would some multiplayer modes have killed them? I mean Jack ain't jack without a friend. We'd even be willing to pay or look at ads or something if it comes to that. Just, please, give us more Jack!

You have no idea how much i am dying for Jack on wii (wow, i won't hit the puns here). obviously there would have to be a little more time for the gibberish questions, but now that we have wireless controllers and on board disc space, YDKJ would really fit well (as opposed to the earlier console versions for the PS)
Frankly all of the new consoles could accomplish this well, with leaderboards and tournaments, but YDKJ was definately a game that thrived on having multiple people crammed together around a desk with a strategically placed finger on the shared keyboard.
fun fun fun!

Man, I used to love it when Jack was available on the net for free, along with Acrophobia and a slew of other games from Jellyvision. Those guys are masters of media, hehe.
TravistyOJ @ Dec 21st 2006 11:44AM
All I have to say is, YDKJ on XBLA please.
Mightyhog @ Dec 21st 2006 11:48AM
It's good to see Jack after all these years, I think the last edition I bought was "Television." Now I'll definitely keep my Jack dosage up.
32_Footsteps @ Dec 21st 2006 12:06PM
You know, that's all fine and dandy, but what about the fake commercials? I lived for those. Are those back?
I'll even take classics. Like Movie Ending Phone ("Steve Buscemi ends up in a wood chipper!"). Or anything involving Chocky Bits ("The emperor's cereal is cold and impersonal.").
But most of all, I want to hear the return of Sunshine Suppositories. That was "I can't breathe because I'm laughing too much" funny. Even thinking about it makes me laugh hard enough to cry. That needs to return.

Jack, I'd like to introduce you to the Wii. I just know you guys would be great friends.
ck @ Dec 21st 2006 12:12PM
Yeah, I'm glad Jack is back...that was one game where my whole family and friends were involved. Having it on the new consoles would be gold - I'm sure the production cost and time can't be too high for this game...hell, it would work on XBLA.
Jellyvision was great with Acrophobia and Jack online. I think you can still play Acrophobia on uproar.com - but you'll have to endure mind-numbingly bad advertisements.

I agree with Marty. YDKJ and Acrophobia were a blast. They were some of the first flash games that worked really well.
Rev. Nathan Speer @ Dec 21st 2006 12:28PM
The best one was YDKJ 2. If you hadn't had that one, pick it up. It was between the time they made the first game, and they did the over-presented third game. I think all their creative juices came out in number 2. Check it out.
WatTsu @ Dec 21st 2006 12:53PM
YES. YES. A thousand times yes. This is honestly one of my all-time favorite video game series, and it's great to see it back in some form.
DjFIL @ Dec 21st 2006 1:05PM
come on 360 or Wii versions (retail or downloadable) of YDKJ! welcome back jack!
J.Goodwin @ Dec 21st 2006 1:11PM
There has been a YDKJ online for a while. I used to play quite a bit (hey, it's fun).
I really want this on Xbox Live Arcade.
Kevin @ Dec 21st 2006 1:15PM
Yay for more You Don't Know Jack. Now, what they REALLY need is a new version that runs on the Xbox 360 that supports playing with friends over Xbox Live. Probably too big for Live Arcade, but, I'd buy it! And they could use micro-transactions to buy new question packs and stuff - seems like a perfect marriage.
Mike @ Dec 21st 2006 1:34PM
I love YDKJ
My 'The Ride' CD recently got too scratched so I can't play it anymore, but this makes it all better!
MOAR JACK!!
bubbacrosbysucks @ Dec 21st 2006 2:07PM
Who was the host of the short lived syndication version of YDKJ on ABC?
A) Bubba Crosby
B) Paul Reubens
C) Tom Gottlieb
D) Your Mother
(Player 1 chooses A)
"Ooh you SUCK!!!"
32_Footsteps @ Dec 21st 2006 2:48PM
Oh, and the question nobody asked yet - is Question 4 still The Question That Cares?
White Rose Duelist @ Dec 21st 2006 3:47PM
I'd be all for a Wii version where you use the remote to point out precisely where the screws go when you force another player to answer.
Ease your way with sour cream, Mr. Footsteps.
Robby @ Dec 21st 2006 4:29PM
I don't know how well YDKJ would work on XBLA given the 50MB limit and all, unless it's all streamed...
Hmm... 600-800 questions, maybe a minute of dialog for each at some low bitrate WMA...
Pip @ Dec 21st 2006 5:15PM
WHY ISNT THIS ON XBOX LIVE ALREADY!?!?!!
Seriously, this is the ultimate online party game!
Hell, even an offline version would rule! COMEONNNNN
The ZeroCorpse @ Dec 22nd 2006 2:29AM
I'd love to see YDKJ and the games it borrowed from (Zhadnost: The People's Game, and TWISTED! for the 3DO) on the new consoles. In fact, the game show/board game genre has been absent from consoles for quite a long time now, and I think it would be quite fun to play Jeopardy on Xbox Live with people from around the country, or Wheel of Fortune with the Wiimote (I'll spin!) and your family in on the game.
I'd put money on the fact that any developer who comes up with a fun new console-based game show game NOT based on a real life game show would be sitting on a big hit. People are ready for gaming to be something for the whole family, and believe you me- You will have NO problem getting grandma to join in on a format that is familiar to her; Something that resembles The Price Is Right, for example.
People like game shows. They like trivia. They like board games. Why isn't any game developer jumping on this?
